This weeks game is apparently Aegis Wing and will set you back a cool 0 Points.

Microsoft today revealed via a hastily removed press release on it?s Gamerscore blog that Aegis Wing will be making it?s way to XBLA this wednesday for a cool 0 Microsoft Points (for a limited time anyway).

Aegis Wing is one of those old school side scrolling shmups that all you hardcore gamers love because they are just SO GOD DAMN HARD and stuff.

So remember, Aegis Wing, XBLA, This Wednesday. FOR FREE.

Sounds awesome! For those of you not in NA, you may want to consider making a gamertag based in the US. Downloading demos and (free) videos still works, so perhaps it might with this arcade title too.

Aegis Wing is out and I can confirm that it can be downloaded here in the UK if you use a US account. It's almost like they did it deliberately seeing as how they can restrict these things properly now.

Whatever the reason, it's well worth the effort. I just played through the game on normal mode with 3 other people in co-op and it's a lot of fun. Single player is basically 4x as hard though because you don't have the backup.

Awesome game. I couldn't put it down until I beat all six levels without using continues, and as of this moment, I'm #16 on the leaderboard. Go me!

Make a US account. It's worth the effort. A really great game, especially when you consider that it was a few interns at MS who made the game, not some huge studio.

heh yea, those games were great when they first came out, but having seen games progress in the years since makes those games pretty sad almost.

you're right, it is sad. makes one wonder what the stuff we're playing now will look like to the grandkids!

also, i'd like to say Aero Wing is a pretty awesome and addictive! i'd like to thank MS for putting it out there for us, it's mighty kind of them and the sort of trust-building, community-constructing gesture we hopefully will be seeing more of in the future. it came just in time as my frustration with some of their corporate mentality lately was building up.
