It won't take long. Just pop it into Excel or Word and use the Alphabetize function. If you can't figure it out, I can do it for you, just let me know...

Alright, but I'd like to see what anyone else thought first, I mean, I don't know if some people prefer the category style or not.

hahaha magik, you're really keen on this eh? i say leave the boy alone, it's fine as it is!

btw word puzzle...did anyone else get it? together with COD4 it was my one year 360 anniversary present to myself...and my electro-mechanical bride, of course.

Wow, I thought Switchball was a lot of fun! What did you guys think? I might consider buying it, I just wish it was like 600MSP instead of 800MSP

I was completely disappointed by it (the demo, at least). Marble Blast Ultra remains my favourite XBLA game to this day and from the description and screenshots it seemed like I would love Switchball too. Maybe I was expecting it to be too similar, because I just found it to be completely dull.

Gameplay-wise, the movement speed of the balls is just way too slow, the method of changing balls seems clunky (why not by pickups or using a button?) and these along with how you arrive at the level seem to greatly reduce the fun of trying to beat your best times, which is half of the point of these games. Then there's the graphics, which while pretty are marred by a painfully slow framerate and the worse screen-tearing I've seen in an Xbox game to-date - there's just no excuse for this sort of thing as we approach the 2nd birthday of the 360.

Ah well, I've already got a backlog of 4-5 XBLA games I intend to buy eventually, so at least this is one I won't be adding to the list!

I'm not saying get rid of the categories, I'm just saying alphabetize the games within the categories.

I just thought it might be helpful. I don't really care either way, just trying to help. :p

This week on Arcade: We celebrate our 100th title!

Xbox LIVE Arcade celebrates 100 Arcade titles with Screwjumper. And since we don’t have cake to celebrate, you can also get your green on with Shrek N Roll.

Both titles will be available this Wednesday for 800 points each.

gone are the days of 400 point coin op classics?! neoadorable displeased. neoadorable even angry. neodorable may do something dumb like boycott Arcade altogether, especially after neordorable got burned with Word Puzzle!

yes, i'd like to applaud them for giving us this game for free. it's the kind of thing they need to do more of. not being an ass, it's true, if we're a community apart from those other people then it's time we acted the part. and it should start with MS.

Just a reminder, Carcassonoe (sp) is free starting tomorrow until the 15th..so get it while it's hot.

I tried it out. It seems like a cool game that takes a while to learn..

And it's better 'free' game than Aegis wing or Yaris lately..but free is better anyway :)

I think Aegis Wing is awesome . But then again, I'm really missing my Gradius and R-Type. Would be nice if they just remade R-Type Final on the 360.

Right guys I still haven't purchased any Arcade games.

From listening to the 1UP podcast we are all supposedly getting 1 free game given to us soon.

What I want is the lowdown on the best/most addictive XBLA arcade games out just now.

So I can pick a good game for free, but most importantly go buy some others just now :)

I'm getting fed up waiting for Everyday Shooter to hit UK PSN.

Also i'm guessing Live doesn't allow sharing of DLC games to 5 friends like PSN?

Suppose we get demos to replace that, but it's still nice to get the games for free :p

Sorry dude, hate to break it to you but you can't choose which game you want for free. In the west we were given Carcassonne and in the East, they were given Hexic 2 (you could download both if you made a Korean account and vice versa). But unfortunetly it was only for 24hrs, so you've missed it altogether.

Titles I'd check out are Bomberman Live, Geometry Wars, Uno, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Texas Hold'em and Worms. Can't think of any more of the top of my head. Check Major Nelson's website for the top 10 played games just now and see what's popular I guess :)

Neo, I guess I'm just old skool

Speedball XBLA gets treats

by Rob Purchese

Empire has revealed plans to release a continual stream of new content for Speedball II: Brutal Deluxe on Live Arcade, a bit like a persistent nosebleed.

The first of these was a Theme Pack to decorate your Dashboard with, which will be followed this week by a bundle of new Arena locations each with three variations to keep things fresh.

Then, in order, we will be treated to a collection of Gamerpics, more superstar players, fresh team strips and a final compilation of Gamerpics. Each will cost between 100 and 150 Points (GBP 0.85 and 1.28).

Speedball II: Brutal Deluxe is a remake of the retro sports gem for Live Arcade. If you really must know, it is a futuristic sports game not too dissimilar to American Football, just with more body armour, less rules, better steroids and an metal Olympic hammer-like ball. It also costs 800 Microsoft points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.30).

We loved it back in 1991 and we heart the Live Arcade version. Pop over to our Speedball II: Brutal Deluxe review to find out why.

Alternatively you can pop into our Speedball II: Brutal Deluxe gallery for some exclusive snaps of the new content.

Asteroids on Live tomorrow

by Rob Purchese

Microsoft has told us tomorrow's Live Arcade treat will be a double pack containing Asteroids and Asteroids Deluxe.

This rocky offering could be yours for 400 Points (GBP 3.40 / 4.65), and takes you back to the olden days of vector graphics as you blast your little spaceship around and break up enormous asteroids as they hurtle towards you.

Deluxe is the sequel to Asteroids, and both will come HD visuals with a high-speed "throttle monkey" mode to make things a bit trickier - plus the usual Leaderboards to climb and 200 Gamerpoints to earn.

Look out for our review of Asteroids soon.

    • Louis Rossmann suing Samsung over "990 Pro SSD warranty scam" by Sayan Sen Back in 2023, if you recall, Neowin reviewer Robbie Khan had a dispute with Samsung over his 990 Pro SSD, which was rapidly losing its health. After significant back and forth, the tech giant had finally released firmware to "stop" the issue. Interestingly, its previous flagship at the time, the 980 Pro was also facing problems leading to two consecutive sets of firmware fixes. Three years later, it looks like a similar conflict has now broken out between tech repair entrepreneur YouTuber Louis Rossmann and Samsung, as it has escalated into a threatened lawsuit after the company allegedly refused to appropriately replace a failing 990 Pro SSD that remained under warranty. According to Rossmann, a 4TB Samsung 990 Pro NVMe SSD purchased for approximately $330 less than two years ago, began experiencing major hiccups and issues, even though he claims it had been operated under ideal cooling conditions. It was installed in a RAID 1 array and cooled by a heatsink and dual high-speed fans. However the drive reportedly started dropping out of the array, exhibiting controller-level failures that eventually became not useable in any meaningful way. Rossmann said Samsung’s support process was marked by delays and confusion from the very start. After initially contacting the wrong regional support channel, he was redirected to Samsung’s memory support division where he submitted detailed diagnostics, logs, and proof of purchase. Rossmann runs a repair company and owns an ACE Lab PC-3000 machine, which is a professional-grade data recovery equipment. As such, he had been confident in his diagnostics. Samsung even seemingly acknowledged that later. Regardless, Rossmann claims that his initial support ticket was automatically closed before a full 24-hour response window had elapsed, forcing him to reopen the case and resubmit documentation. The controversy however intensified further from here after Samsung accepted the drive for warranty evaluation but later returned it with a repair report stating that the drive had passed its testing and that the SSD had been verified as functional. Rossmann strongly disputed those claims citing that his own independent testing on PC-3000 showed write speeds reducing to as low as 40–60 MB/s before the drive failed entirely. Samsung subsequently informed him that the SSD had been reset and reflashed, passing internal stress tests. However, the company also stated that replacement units were unavailable due to an industry-wide memory shortage and suggested that a refund process could be initiated if further testing confirmed the fault. Thus, to settle, the company offered a refund of $330, the amount that was initially paid by him to make the purchase. Here, Rossmann pointed out the seeming hypocrisy of the tech giant as in how no Samsung drive was apparently allocated for warranty replacements, but they were abundantly available for retail sales especially when using business accounts. As you can see, Rossmann is indeed right, there are Samsung 990 Pro 4TB SSDs on Amazon currently for $950 (shipped and sold by first-party Amazon US itself), and they are also available on Samsung's own store too, albeit for an even higher price of $1100. Thus Rossmann argues that Samsung’s inability or unwillingness to provide a replacement while the same model remains available for purchase at significantly higher market prices reflects a failure to honor its warranty obligations. He has issued a formal 60-day notice and says he intends to file suit in Texas small claims court, asserting that companies should face greater costs for denying legitimate warranty claims than for fulfilling them. You can check out the full video titled "Samsung's 990 Pro SSD warranty policy is a scam; I'm taking them to court," at the link below. • Was it too much to ask to show the icon in this article?
    • Frankly, I blame whoever is writing such articles. "A big improvement/update and/or new feature is now available to everyone! Also, use this unofficial tweak tool to enable it because it actually isn't available to you yet officially and might not in fact even be entirely ready or whatever, hence why it is perhaps not enabled for you*. But it's great and you should enable it!" I mean there's nothing wrong with sharing info about some feature you might need to enable via unofficial means, of course. It's just that these articles tend to essentially end up being two news pieces in one, and one of them tends to be a bit misleading. (*Yes, yes, the "it's a controlled rollout!" thing. Not a fan of that one either. The argument, not the actual rollout.)
    • Thank you. Will do. I read in the release notes that editor config might be at play here.
    • Actually, I think even Microsoft doesn't know how to control it
