so MS mailed them a sheet of paper only to have them go back to their pcs and download Office? get with the times...EMAIL FTW!.

Vista i can understand, however i think it mite take longer for them to ship it then Office. anyways if ur in Pennsylvania, and im in NJ were basically really close so i will see if i got mine today.

Says DHL 2 day

Was there a reference number somewhere on the label? I would love to be able to see if I could track the item via reference number to my area (provided they are using reference numbers.)

I dont see one... unless I just dont know what to look for... DHL use to have REF next to a number, but I dont see any

OK thanks.

On a side note: Your boss must be getting a kick out of your questions or at least wanting to examine the label. I can see you running back and forth to the package and looking up the info or at least wanting to keep the package for yourself. :)

OK thanks.

Well our department is self contained... Boss sits a whole 8 ft from me :p

I've read through the forum. That's why I posted. I would like to get mine like everyone else. I'm waiting just like everyone else. I've responded to postings here. I didn't say anyone was making up anything. I simply stated that my email said in 6-8 wks from RTM. SO I've been thinking it's gonna be like late Febuary is all. I'm patient.

What part of "RTM was in early November, 2006" are you having trouble understanding?

According to one of the last posts in the Channel 9 forum, Mark there told someone that it would be shipping via USPS.

I thought it was confirmed that it was DHL based on today's earlier report, but back to the anyone's guess game I suppose. I have the next two days off from work, would be nice to get either one then so I could mess around with it on my time off, but if not, waiting teaches patience.

It is not uncommon for DHL to ship from hub to hub and then hand off to USPS for local delivery. In actuality, this software may end up being delivered by both service providers.

From some of my research on Wikipedia, DHL has a partnership with USPS called DHL@Home which hands off delivery of small packages to the USPS.

I never saw that with them myself though, I had ordered a VOIP adaptor last year and the company sent it via DHL, and they were the ones who brought it to my door, not USPS, and that was residential too.

I would not be surprised though if they hand off a large portion to the USPS to help offset the load of 30k letters/packages.

i get my microsoft expertzone stuff USPS and it is usually 1-2 weeks from when i order it, unless it is backordered. I get things DHL from the windowsmobile training program and thats like 4-6 weeks, so it seems a little backwards.

It's a free program and free shipping so I would think they go the cheapest route to ship. If they charged for shipping that would be different. You know? I don't care when I get mine and to be honest I might not install it, at least for awhile. Not microsofts fault it's the sound card makers fault on that. So don't get all mad when u don't get it the next day when your getting a $300 program free and free shipping. That's a really good deal. Look online and places charge $20 for fast shipping. Maybe they took 20000 to the post office at once and it's taking awhile to get them out. Think about things before you get mad at microsoft. It's free!

It always takes weeks for USPS for me too, why Microsoft Why?!

Who's getting mad? I would be disappointed but certainly not mad.

    • Linux 7.2's first release candidate gets off to a good start by Paul Hill Credit: Larry Ewing It has been a few weeks since the release of Linux 7.1, and in that time, the Linux 7.2 merge window has been open, where developers can submit their features and patches ready for the upcoming release. That window is now shut, and the release candidate phase has begun so that new features can be tested and further fixes applied. According to the founder of Linux, Linus Torvalds, this week’s release candidate looks “reasonably normal”. Although we are super early in the release candidates, this is a good sign as it makes it more likely that an eighth release candidate will not be needed. Torvalds even mentioned that the update’s stats are only larger than they really are because there was another AMD header drop with a third of the patch just being AMD GPU register definitions, which aren’t big changes but make the code contributed look larger overall. In addition to this, he noted that just over half the patch is drivers, even when excluding the AMD register dump. The rest of the changes are spread out over architecture updates, tooling, documentation, and core kernel updates. In the next week, Torvalds says that he will be chilling out, taking the week “mostly off”. Despite this, he will be reading emails and keeping up with things, so if he is slow responding, now you know why. He said he is hoping for a calm week, but we will just have to see if the second release candidate is actually like that. We should expect seven or eight release candidates before Linux 7.2 is released, so expect it around the end of August. If you missed it a few weeks ago, be sure to check out our coverage of Linux 7.1's release.
