I got my copy of Vista Business through MSNDAA at my school. I had two options: 5 Cds or 1 DVD. I signed up for both and d/l'd and installed the dvd. I was given two different cd keys for the two options.

Could i use the dvd i burned and install vista on my other computer and use the key from the 5 cds or am i gonna have to actually d/l and install from the cds to use the key.

Sorry for the lack of spelling and punctuation and grammar and all i'm pretty good into a botlte of everclear right now

You should be able to use either key for either media. I haven't tried this myself, so I do not know if it works for sure.

Hey when you sign up for both and complete both...but don't send a tax form, will they still send at least one of the products? (fingers crossed*)

Or you could just submit the W-9 (which is really quite a painless process) and get both of your gifts in the mail without any problems. (Assuming you are 18 or older, of course ;))

i havent recieved my copy of office yet either. i finished the online webcasts before they soldout. when i finished my second, they were sold out. but i finished all three and looked in mystuff and itsays ill be getting my copy in 6 to 8 weeks following release. i guess i should still hold tight right? by the way,im in allentown pa.

Have you received your vista yet? I just submitted my W9 recently and received an email that I would get it in 1 to 2 weeks. To my knowledge, anyone who qualified for both office and vista have not received anything yet.

I started this thread and still havnt gotten mine :(

now I don't feel nearly so bad! ...still waiting here too... hopefully tomorrow since other people in KC area got theirs :)

"

i wish i knew about this sooner, looks like ill have to buy vista"

...yeah it went fast. good news is, it's a lot cheaper than originally thought to be! check newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.....x=0&Go.y=0

...please note that those are OEM copies, meaning that they're tied to the system that you install it on...

.....waiting patiently for Vista in mail... did not sign up for office.

Everyone's talking about their Vista, but did anyone get their Office letter/license key yet?

I was too late to get on the Vista boat, but I managed to snatch a seat on the Office yacht...

I posted about getting my Office but some funny guy deleted it... so yes someone got it. Wish I got both :(

AWESOME.

I cant even install mine.

Im trying to do the UPGRADE, and after it reboots for the first time after setting up the install files, I get a bluescreen with no information besides telling me to run CHKDSK /F (WHICH IS THE DAMN DVD!)

I DONT want to have to go through a clean install but it looks like thats my option now...unless anyone has a solution for a similar problem.

The W9 is only if you ordered both since it totals to more than $600.. you have to pay taxes. :)

well not technically, you only pay taxes if your reported gifts to the IRS totals over $2,000 for a year... they just have to tell the IRS they gave you a gift over $500. Doesnt mean you have to pay taxes, only pay those if you go over the taxable threshold which is $2,000 USD

    • Linux 7.2's first release candidate gets off to a good start by Paul Hill Credit: Larry Ewing It has been a few weeks since the release of Linux 7.1, and in that time, the Linux 7.2 merge window has been open, where developers can submit their features and patches ready for the upcoming release. That window is now shut, and the release candidate phase has begun so that new features can be tested and further fixes applied. According to the founder of Linux, Linus Torvalds, this week’s release candidate looks “reasonably normal”. Although we are super early in the release candidates, this is a good sign as it makes it more likely that an eighth release candidate will not be needed. Torvalds even mentioned that the update’s stats are only larger than they really are because there was another AMD header drop with a third of the patch just being AMD GPU register definitions, which aren’t big changes but make the code contributed look larger overall. In addition to this, he noted that just over half the patch is drivers, even when excluding the AMD register dump. The rest of the changes are spread out over architecture updates, tooling, documentation, and core kernel updates. In the next week, Torvalds says that he will be chilling out, taking the week “mostly off”. Despite this, he will be reading emails and keeping up with things, so if he is slow responding, now you know why. He said he is hoping for a calm week, but we will just have to see if the second release candidate is actually like that. We should expect seven or eight release candidates before Linux 7.2 is released, so expect it around the end of August. If you missed it a few weeks ago, be sure to check out our coverage of Linux 7.1's release.
