I live outside Kansas City, MO. I've gotten mine as of an hour ago.

The Office will be a download.... period, point, blank. They said that once they've recieved your stuff for taxes, and process this, they will send out an email/letter that contains the d/l link and a key. This is a good possiblility that it's via WindowsMarketplace.

But it's Microsoft, they can do whatever.

Are you saying you got your free copy of Vista in the mail 1 hour ago? I thought they were not coming until March? Did it come in the retail box?

Where does it say that office will be a download? Cause all I did was the offer for office....I was in the beta for vista and received it as a gift. No where in the channel9 forum does Mark mention office as a download.....posts dating back as far as Jan 1.

And since I only did 1 offer I did not have to fill out a w9 form.

My friend received his DVD last night... he says:

came in envelope with a sleeve and key

funky looking disc

I have filled thru the last few pages of the channel9 forum on the offer and going back to Jan 10 and nothing is posted about Office being a download. As far as I can tell it is going to be a cd/dvd being shipped.

office 07 is a download. it says that on the power of together site where we signed up. go ahead and keep hoping though.

How cheap, (yet its free) a sleeve and a key.

let's be real here... you didn't expect Bill to deliver a retail box copy and give you a hug did you? :shifty:

I was dissappointed that it was 32bit only, I wanted to go 64bit early to avoid a reinstall later. But hey... free is free and they saved me a few hundred dollars!

Yes, that's correct. Download for Office and physical media for Vista.
However, further investigation into that thread revealed this:

well it look as though im getting office on a pysical disk. I emailed the fulfillment people a few weeks ago to see if i could get a disk instead of the download voucher and told them i would wait. Well i got my reply today and they said they would this is sweet.

Although it says on the PT site that it was a download Mark has repeatedly said that both programs were being stamped and shipped. So one could only assume that it was being shipped.

And since the vista dvd has started to arrive and no emails yet about any download for office/key, I am betting on a cd/dvd for office.

I am not saying anyone is right or wrong....but two different things are being said.

is that kind of expensive?

I could buy a separate OEM Ultimate for not too much more and re-use my Business license elsewhere...

There should be a BIG fat warning on the "Anytime Upgrade".

This is what I have read, if you have bought a retail version (ie, what everyone is supposed to be getting for this program) or you bought it from store, then you do the "Anytime Upgrade", then you just made your retail program into a OEM license.

Oh, and nothing in MI or IL yet....come on snail mail!

LOL, had to go back to December 12, 2006 on Channel9.msdn forum for a post from the Developer & Platform Marketing guy for this promotion (Mark Brown) to see his quote about the fact that Office 2007 Pro will be a download and Vista Business is on physical media.

Here is what Mark Brown had to say on Dec 12, 2006:

Yes, that's correct. Download for Office and physical media for Vista.

Here is the link to his post on Channel9 forum.
