osirisX
Looking at those screenshots, it's nice to see Apple make all the developer tools icons have the same theme. What is Xray though? And have all the other apps found in the developer tools gotten icon updates? PL_ Veteran Posted May 8, 2007 Veteran Share Posted May 8, 2007 Slightly off topic: What if the secret feature in Leopard is multi-touch? :shifty: Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/521244-mac-os-x-leopard-related-discussion/page/18/#findComment-588536946 Share on other sites

instant.human
that would be kinda cool but kinda sucky aswell since we would all need new devices to use it which sucks, since you were forced to buy one new to get in favor of the full functionality. they cant do that yet. apple might release some kind of tablet for multi-touch use but would never entirely add it to the new OS... at least i dont think they would do. ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/521244-mac-os-x-leopard-related-discussion/page/18/#findComment-588537185 Share on other sites
the evn show
that would be kinda cool but kinda sucky aswell since we would all need new devices to use it which sucks Quartz Extreme didn't run on all Macs when 10.2 it was released. 64-bit low-level libraries didn't work on all Macs running 10.3 when it was release. Some fancy eye-candy wasn't enabled for all Macs running 10.4 when it was released. LCD Cinema displays wouldn't work on all Macs when they were first released either (without the purchase of a $129 VGA -> ADC adapter, and the USB ports still wouldn't work). They do the same thing with software: If you want to run up-to-date versions of FinalCut or Aperture then you have to be running the latest edition of Mac OS X. Apple has no issues with coupling their products to new technologies. since you were forced to buy one new to get in favor of the full functionality. they cant do that yet. Why not? If Apple doesn't include that feature it'll have more to do with the technology being either incomplete or impractical, not because they want their customers to not buy new hardware. at least i dont think they would do. Stick around for a few years and you'll think otherwise. Adding multi-touch doesn't screw anyone. It's like "Hey, there's this new feature in Leopard that uses this new multi-touch thing. If you were thinking about getting a Mac, get a multi-touch one! If you have a Mac, relax, you can still use a non-touch screen" With your attitude, we wouldn't have the mouse. And let's not forget the iPhone Leopard has multi-touch, so if they port it to Mac OS X...I think it's almost certain they will. osirisX
Multi-touch on a Mac wont work. Think about it, do you REALLY want to have your arms out all day long when using a computer? Apple would only do it on a tablet Mac. But they have stated they preferred the iPhone over a full blown tablet Mac. PL_ Veteran Posted May 9, 2007 Veteran Share Posted May 9, 2007 Well they wouldn't have the screen at it's current angle. Methinks it will be tipped more. I don't see how it could be more painful than having your arms out all day on a KB/mouse. osirisX
Well, I don't know about any of you guys, but my arms are currently resting on my chairs' arms. But more importantly, you reminded me of something I saw over at Macrumors. Some guy tried designing a multi-touch iMac. So bad looking, but the comments were rather hilarious. Oh and he developed this over 3 threads and got the same comment each time. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=296711 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/521244-mac-os-x-leopard-related-discussion/page/18/#findComment-588539107 Share on other sites

osirisX
Remember Illuminous? Well, some guy decided to make some mock-ups of what he thinks it would look like. http://macthemes2.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=16779791 I always love how anything transparent is shown with no overlapping windows or 2 windows that hardly overlap. I do however like the idea of the flipping preferences like widgets have. Cool idea for preferences, though. .Neo
I don't like those mockups one bit. The flipping widget idea implemented like that is pointless IMO and it's way too Aero-ish for my taste. .Neo
I honestly don't mind if Apple incorporated some black elements here and there, but this is just over the top.
