Has anyone received a phone call?

I just got a recorded call from a male voice that said they wanted to help me with something and that I had to call a 1-800 number back between 8am and 8pm EST. It then gave me a reference number read off by a female recorded voice.

I don't get telemarketer calls normally, so this is weird.

And the worst part is I didn't have time to write down the 1-800 number!!! All I have is my reference number.

Anyone had this happen?

Let me for clarity tag my own words ....

<sarcasm>

Yup, and it will be supercool when you call all your friends and tell them, "hey dude take out the damn heathsink of your cpu so you

can see my name !!! cool ehh"

</sarcasm>

better ?

I'm sorry, I was totally agreeing with you, I just quoted your text to emphasize my words. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what the glory in having your name on a chip is. I thought maybe it was something I was overlooking or didn't know about.

Ok, a short stretch:

The baseboard is missing from the Rabbit Trail puzzle on the right side of the room (2nd video, "Don't forget the base boards")

That same puzzle is the only one with any hint of a window, the curtains are visible (2nd video, "... crawl through the window")

Thoughts?

No, this doesn't mean I've given up on the interlaced frames / hidden info quest, just that I'm looking for more clues!

Collection agency perhaps, typical modus operandi

- Hi this is Tracy I'm calling you about a very important personal matter, we would like to

help you, please call us from X am to Y pm to 1-800-ILL-SUCK-URBLOD and use this

reference number 987435032478.

If you are not you, please disregard this message.

Don't you have caller ID or a way to call back ?

Don't you have caller ID or a way to call back ?

I don't have caller ID and when I tried to use *69, it said the number could not be contacted.

The reason I immediately thought of the game is because the winner will be notified by being called on Feb 1. I've been debating how I going to get off work so that I can sit at home to claim my prize. (guess I should have entered with my cell phone).

If I'm the only one, then its probably not the game.

I took a look at this and you're right. I didn't really find much with it though. But i have a question. I CLICKED on the rabbit feet and it took me to that Live Search page(same as in the game) but it says it was updated: Last updated : 1/15/2007 11:53:51 AM. That was two days after i finished that puzzle? Any of you guys have this or can tell me what was changed?

can someone be kind enough to explain the substitution cipher on cup and balls? i got the answer from here but would love to know how it all got worked out... ( or link me to it or something) thx

GO HERE: http://vanishingpointwiki.com/wiki/Cup_and_Balls

then at the bottom of the pictures.....there are two links that say "Click to reveal the Spoiler"

Click on both to see full explanation on how that puzzle is to be solved!@ :)

Hope that helps

Something is weird, I went back to the game to check the rabbit thing, I logged in, I see my points but all the puzzles say

"unsolved" I picked some and put the correct answer but it won't take it, cleared the cache and cookies, but no effect.

Seems that something on the backend is not working, I believe is the PuzzleHandler.ashx script.

Hey e42 are you reading here ????? you got a problem:

Hey guys,

I searched on live search for a while and came up with this:

V Loki

28618 State Route 530 NE, Arlington, WA 98223

(360) 474-9565

Coincidence?

Thats interesting...Now we might want to try to do a reverse search..what else is registered at that address.

Remember, Loki is NOT a real name...so if it has a registered address...that may not be her. BUt on the other hand, what can microsoft NOT do? they cna do whatever they want. See when it was last updated (the website) ...But seems interesting. Im going to look into this...HAVE u tried calling that numbe? or do a REVERSE NUMBER LOOK UP?

FYI..just did a reverse look up on WitePages....it IS registered to Loki, V....its a LANDLINE.....and the provider is VERIZON.......lol

Hey all,

New to Neowin and Vanishing Point. I found it by looking for additional copies of the skywriting pics because some of them aren't very clear. Anyway, I've made it through a few of the pages of this forum, but there's 75 and I just wanted to throw this out in case it helps anyone. I was doing some searches on block ciphers for the last puzzle of box 2 and found out that theres one out there actually named LOKI...probably just a coincidence but who knows maybe something will come up in the future if it's not part of this one. Here's the place I first found it.

http://www2.mat.dtu.dk/people/Lars.R.Knudsen/bc.html

Sorry if it's useless or already known info. now that I've found this forum I hope to be actual help on future boxes, but from what I've read it sounded like you guys have the first 2 pretty well wrapped up. Good job to all.

Yeah so we know D&G pops up a couple times as she wears their product.

So I got to thinking - and looked over the female models currently being used by D&G. 42 of them, and not a single one is asian.

*shrugs*

I's figured, we need to find her real name - and thought hey, actresses are models too...

Speaking of fabulous prizes, does anyone think its strange that the grand prize lists:

"$50,000 cash, to be used to defray the cost of taxes"

Taxes on what? The "vista" space trip? The boatload of electronics? Or is it just a silly way to say "You get a bunch of cash too"? And "defray" as if your taxes are going to be more than that?

I'm confused.

If you win a prize, then you have to declare it on your Federal Income Taxes at the end of the year...I believe you get nailed for forty percent. So the 50k is to defer the cost of winning the trip into space and pc's. Which also means that you will still owe about 170K in taxes. Did you hear what happened to the guy from Survivor for tax evasion? He went to prison. The other thing, which I have heard but don't know is true, is that once in you life you get to one year of taxes.

By the By, thanks to all of you here for helping with this game. Couldn't have done it without you.

Looking at the next group of locations for "real world" events, the times and a hunch, you can bet that the clues will be revealed in fireworks.

Why?

The 4 Classic Elements

Water - The first set of clues revealed at the Bellagio

Air - The Second set revealed through skywriting

Fire - (Fireworks) I'm certain this will be the method used to reveal the third set of clues.

Earth- That is the one to figure out.

And...The five gross elements are: space, air, fire, water, and earth.

I have a strong feeling this plays a role in solving the game.

Reasonable thinking shame it didn't come to anything :(

    • I don't hate the new menus, I am not a fan of the lack of features and how they went live when they clearly are not complete. The menu itself presents much better than the previous - but what's lacking (IMO) is: 1) Any kind of automated manipulation such as: "this goes on the new menu because you use this feature more often on this filetype" "this is rarely used and will fall back to the old menu" 2) Any kind of user manipulation such as: "a UI to add/remove/order items to the new menu"
    • The biggest issue in this version of Win 11 context menu, from usability standpoint, is the movable row with basic commands. Think of a car analogy...if You turn the week left the infotainment screen will move right and vice versa. With how it works now Microsoft made something forbidden in designing in any UI, software or hardware. I can't grasp who were the morons within Microsoft suggesting it was a good idea and gave it a green light.
    • LibreOffice 26.2.4 by Razvan Serea LibreOffice is the free power-packed Open Source personal productivity suite for Windows, Macintosh and Linux, that gives you six feature-rich applications for all your document production and data processing needs: Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Math and Base. Support and documentation is free from our large, dedicated community of users, contributors and developers. You, too, can also get involved! Choosing Between LibreOffice Still and LibreOffice Fresh: LibreOffice Still is a good choice if you value stability, a longer support cycle, and a more conservative approach to software updates. It's suitable for businesses and organizations where reliability and compatibility are crucial. LibreOffice Fresh is ideal if you're an enthusiast or an early adopter who wants to stay on the cutting edge of LibreOffice development and is willing to accept more frequent updates and occasional minor issues. Features: Writer is the word processor inside LibreOffice. Use it for everything, from dashing off a quick letter to producing an entire book with tables of contents, embedded illustrations, bibliographies and diagrams. The while-you-type auto-completion, auto-formatting and automatic spelling checking make difficult tasks easy (but are easy to disable if you prefer). Writer is powerful enough to tackle desktop publishing tasks such as creating multi-column newsletters and brochures. The only limit is your imagination. Calc tames your numbers and helps with difficult decisions when you're weighing the alternatives. Analyze your data with Calc and then use it to present your final output. Charts and analysis tools help bring transparency to your conclusions. A fully-integrated help system makes easier work of entering complex formulas. Add data from external databases such as SQL or Oracle, then sort and filter them to produce statistical analyses. Use the graphing functions to display large number of 2D and 3D graphics from 13 categories, including line, area, bar, pie, X-Y, and net - with the dozens of variations available, you're sure to find one that suits your project. Impress is the fastest and easiest way to create effective multimedia presentations. Stunning animation and sensational special effects help you convince your audience. Create presentations that look even more professional than the standard presentations you commonly see at work. Get your collegues' and bosses' attention by creating something a little bit different. Draw lets you build diagrams and sketches from scratch. A picture is worth a thousand words, so why not try something simple with box and line diagrams? Or else go further and easily build dynamic 3D illustrations and special effects. It's as simple or as powerful as you want it to be. Base is the database front-end of the LibreOffice suite. With Base, you can seamlessly integrate into your existing database structures. Based on imported and linked tables and queries from MySQL, PostgreSQL or Microsoft Access and many other data sources, you can build powerful databases containing forms, reports, views and queries. Full integration is possible with the in-built HSQL database. Math is a simple equation editor that lets you lay-out and display your mathematical, chemical, electrical or scientific equations quickly in standard written notation. Even the most-complex calculations can be understandable when displayed correctly. E=mc2. LibreOffice also comes configured with a PDF file creator, meaning you can distribute documents that you're sure can be opened and read by users of almost any computing device or operating system. • Amazon eero Pro 6E mesh Wi-Fi system 2-pack is 27% off by Ivan Jenic The Amazon eero Pro 6E mesh Wi-Fi system is currently $239.99 on Amazon for the 2-pack, down from $329.99. That's 27% off and $90 saved for a solid Wi-Fi solution that covers your entire home (purchase link down below). The 2-pack covers up to 4,000 square feet (372 square meters) and supports 100+ connected devices, which handles the vast majority of home setups without breaking a sweat. Wi-Fi 6E brings access to the 6 GHz band for lower latency across the network, and the 2.5 Gb Ethernet port supports gigabit+ internet plans if your ISP offers them. eero's TrueMesh technology handles traffic routing automatically, so you're not manually managing which devices connect to which node. You set up the entire thing through the eero app, and the entire process takes a few minutes. The system also receives automatic security updates in the background, so once you set it up, you don't have to worry about compatibility issues. If you're covering a larger home or want more nodes, the 3-pack is $329.99 and the 4-pack is $479.98, both at similar discount levels. It's worth mentioning that a newer model exists, which is likely the reason for the discount, but the Pro 6E is still perfectly capable hardware for most homes.
