I almost lost interest watching F1 now, and might only watch if i had nothing to do, so i missed yesterday's action... grr.. my bad timing, i think lots happaned.. going to catch all today on raceday review :).

well i obviously knew alonso was going to do things like this, the way he rammed massa in previous race (on near wet track) and could not answer him after race just made it clear... more so , when there were no actions taken (are spanish ppl known to be arrogant like this? i donno) , someone rammed ralf schumaker too , i think even he was not penalised (i may be wrong. i am not following things closely.).

seeing , mclaren wont get constructors championship, i now wish, if there is god, it will be ferrari 1-2. if not , i will be atheist :p.

anyway. lets see.

BUDAPEST, Aug 5: Lewis Hamilton will replace Fernando Alonso on pole position for Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix after a stewards' investigation into a qualifying incident between the McLaren teammates.

McLaren have also been pre-emptively stripped of any constructors championship points they might earn from the race.

FIA officials were moved to investigate the chain of events which saw Alonso claim pole position after waiting in front of Hamilton in the pits for 30 seconds ahead of the pair's final qualifying runs.

"The actions of the team in the final minutes of qualifying are deemed prejudicial to the interests of the competition and to the interests of motor sport generally," said the stewards in a statement addressed to McLaren boss Ron Dennis.

(OMFG such a surprise, you didn't see this when they were stealing designs from ferrari?-kyro)

Also swept aside was Alonso's feeble excuse that he waited in front of Hamilton for a further ten seconds because he was checking whether the correct tyres had been fitted to his car.

German Nico Rosberg will now be fourth on the grid for Williams with Ralf Schumacher of Toyota fifth ahead of Alonso.

Earlier on Saturday, Dennis had blamed Hamilton for the controversy and claimed the Briton defied team orders.

Dennis had said that Alonso was held back by team engineers because of Hamilton upsetting a pre-arranged strategy. ( are there two teams now within mclaren ( and the third team working shadily with f1-engineers?) , this is all ****ed up.)- kyro

"It's extremely difficult to deal with two such competitive drivers," said Dennis.

On Saturday, it had been agreed that Alonso would make the final pit stop before Hamilton, but the 22-year-old championship leader disobeyed team orders by not letting the Spaniard pass him.

First post in this topic but I just can't help myself.

Alonso and Hamilton trying to out perform each other is thankfully making F1 a better spectator sport. Their in team rivalry may not be what Ron wants but it's certainly what the public needs. Hamilton is an amazing driver but is up against the best in the world in Alonso. Alonso is prepared to do whatever it takes to win and whether this isn't regarded as fair play then so be it. Hamilton will not win if he continues playing the nice guy. He's got to have more tenacity and grit and go for it. Just don't let Ferrari come through and pinch it.

Getting stripped of pole position is a bit unfair on Alonso's part...especially when it was Hamilton's original ###### up that started it all off.

The excuse about Hamilton ignoring orders to let Alonso past seems nothing more than an excuse for something else that went on later in the session. The strategists can switch the strategies of these cars in an instant to try and leap-frog people in the race, so why couldn't they just re-order the strategy accordingly in qualy?

It doesn't take a genious to figure out that pitting Lewis a lap early and Alonso on the planned lap would switch em round or at least give Alonso the planned strategy at the expense of Lewis doing his runs on an extra lap of fuel (but still getting the laps in). So basically someone within the team purposely screwed up the strategies without need, and this is why the stewards have punished McLaren.

Alonso's excuse for waiting 10 seconds was pathetic (asking if he had the right tyres on) - they can see what tyres go on, what with the white stripe and all. He may have very genuinely asked over the radio, but it is still unneeded.

Hamilton drove another good race and Raikkonen also did a good job. So little between them the entire race. Great to see Nick on the podium too. Dull race though. Hungary is one race I wouldn't mind losing from the calendar.

What a boring race, especially after the exciting one we saw last week. Oh, and Alonso should have started last, just like Schumacher did in Monaco last year for the same stunt. Wasn't Alonso the first to jump on Schumacher's back for pulling similar stunts? 5 spots down? That's hardly a penalty if you can get a quick jump off the start.

^bayrider,

I am not seeing any penalties for anything actually in this years F1, its like Octagon on wheels. nothing for alonso and nothing for mclaren and nothing for any other driver ramming into cars.

its kinda getting lame, just when i thought i might start getting interested after loss of Schumaker....

another sport for me to just let go from following.

5 spots was an odd penalty I must say. They usually drop them to the back, or delete the time in the session they reached (which would have put Alonso 10th).

@ Kyro - McLaren haven't been punished for the possession of Ferraris documents because of the rule it comes under. It's a very generalised rule it is under, so the FIA decided to find McLaren guilty of possessing the documents but not punish them as they didn't use them (or more precisely that there isn't any proof that they have). The FIA would have caused far less problems if they split the "charge" in two - one for possession and one for usage.

The documents are as good as useless anyway. They are for the Ferrari from the Australian GP (one that used features since clarified as illegal) and at the absolute best the McLaren could only be as fast as the Australian Ferrari - if it was a direct copy.

Another issue is that if the FIA were to ban McLaren (or give some other draconian penalty) for possession, all Ferrari (or any other team) would need to do when things get tough is to secretly mail some documents to the team making it tough, notify the FIA and have them banned.

I don't think McLaren should be penalised on the very basis Ferrari use to argue that they should be. "McLaren are a team and are responsible for their employees" - then surely Ferrari are responsible for their employees too and thus sent McLaren the documents themselves?

  • 3 weeks later...
Sooooo annoyed about hamilton's tyre... so wish it was alonso instead.. :'(

Same. :(

Both times Hamilton has been off the podium, have been down to that right front wheel...

Good job by Massa. Drove a solid race. :)

    • Most boring game ever. Repetitive, empty, predictable, and full of cliches. Total waste of time and money, IMO.
    • Mafia: The Old Country expansion Man of Honor announced, brings back Salieri from original by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe During Summer Game Fest, 2K and Hanger 13 brought out a new Mafia: The Old Country trailer, revealing the game's first expansion. Named Man of Honor, this is slated to add two new chapters to the Enzo storyline that the game follows. There is an iconic character returning to the series with this expansion, with players set to run into Ennio Salieri, the future Don of the Salieri crime family. Fans of the original Mafia, or its Definitive Edition remake, may remember that name as one of the biggest characters in the storyline. This expansion is set prior to his rise to being the kingpin in the City of Lost Heaven. "Set in Sicily during the winter of 1905, Enzo Favara has proven himself a reliable soldier of the Torrisi crime family in the months since his initiation," says the studio about the new chapters. "Now, the Don entrusts him and Cesare with a delicate assignment of assisting Ennio Salieri, a man of honor recently released from prison and intent on reclaiming what is his." Working at Salieri's side, players will be heading into fresh environments as they return to the role of Enzo as a high-ranking soldato. The studio also promises brand-new weapons, fresh vehicles, and charms to collect in this expansion. Moreover, the expansion will add new content to the updated Free Ride mode. Alongside new collectibles and locations, this will add more challenges to beat alongside Salieri, which are described as runs that will "test the skills of even the most elite mafiosi." The Mafia: The Old Country Man of Honor story expansion will release on August 14, 2026, across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. It will cost $10 for owners of the base game to jump into.

    • Telltale returns with The Wolf Among Us, re-revealing the sequel and a new remaster by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Telltale Games, the studio known for its episodic games from the 2000s, had a surprise appearance at the Summer Game Fest showcase today. The studio has gone through a collapse, an acquisition, and a revival but has largely gone silent in recent years. Today's sudden announcement was for the popular The Wolf Among Us series, with news about the sequel and a remaster dropping. Set after the events of the 2013-released title, the sequel will bring back Biby Wolf for a new adventure in Fabletown. This town of fairy tale characters is becoming unstable, with Snow White not being able to keep order as before. "When a brutal series of crimes threatens to fracture the fragile balance holding Fabletown together, Bigby Wolf, sheriff of Fabletown, finds himself drawn into a dangerous conspiracy that reaches deep into the city’s criminal underworld," says the studio. "As suspicion spreads across the city and powerful forces work against him, Bigby must uncover the truth and decide what kind of sheriff - and what kind of wolf - he is willing to become." At the same time, Telltale also announced The Wolf Among Us Remastered, bringing back the classic with a fresh coat of paint. This will include all five episodes from the original game plus over an hour of extra content that will offer behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, image galleries, and deleted scenes. The remaster will also have updated visuals and improved UI elements and accessibility features, alongside upgrades to the animations, audio, and frame rates. Telltale has been working on this project for almost a decade now, but if the new release schedule holds, fans will be able to jump into The Wolf Among Us 2 sometime in 2027. As for The Wolf Among Us Remastered, this is slated to release during this holiday season.
