beekay_
If you didn't mod your console and got banned, couldn't you just send it in to prove to them it's legit? Would probably even get some free stuff out of the deal for the false accusation. At least I know I would sure as hell demand free stuff. I'm actually quite willing to do that if it isn't resolved in the next few days. I bought my 360 about 4-5 months ago, brand new. It has never been tampered with. markwolfe Veteran Posted May 19, 2007 Veteran Share Posted May 19, 2007 Won't everyone who has put in the effort to mod a console just buy a new console at Wal-Mart and return the old one?Quite possible. And this will screw over the next person who gets the box and wonders about the error codes. They might think it is their network connection for a while. Then they will have to convince Microsoft to un-do the ban on the box.Interesting complications. Pc_Madness
Are you banning for things like fan mods, case mods and cooling mods as well? If so, I don't think that's fair at all. Poeple put a lot of work into those, and they shouldn't be banned for just making thier console look better and run better. What is "tampered" in your eyes? No, it relates to people altering the firmware on the DVD drives I think. It allows discs without copy protection to be run. Sheppard
well... all I can say is that not even one of the casualties on this war is "innocent" every one and single console that got banned was tampered in some way or another and we already know of a lot of people trying to revert the process... and you know what? you can take us to court whenever you want, we will probe you're lying and we will counter any of those lawsuits and will laugh our asses as hard as we can when you get jail time for all the stupid things you did... go ahead, make my day!thanks god the system works, somehow but it still works! note: comment was not refering to any particular member... :shiftyninja: Just like the Windows Genuine Advantage false positives eh..... MGS4-SS
One thing that has me wondering is: Does Microsoft really think that Live is that important to some people that the threat of getting banned from it will make people go back? Sooner or later, like with the Xbox, some application like XboxConnect will come out, and getting banned from Live will mean squat. planetik
There's already a better application than XBC. X-Link Kai is starting up strongly. I don't think there's any justification for the people saying that they are innocent. If there REALLY is a discrepancy, why don't they send back their xbox to MS to check it over, instead of complaining to everyone? To be honest, I don't think MS hardly wins when they ban people. Modders can still play their "back-ups" (), have a RENEWED spirit to hack the Xbox FURTHER, and lose a very small portion of the Xbox Gold membership. That really doesn't help the money lost from "back-uped games". Oh, and I think it's kind of funny how MS only bans the console itself, so that they can still say they have a huge XBL membership. :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/561245-microsoft-starts-banning-360s-on-live-ms-confirms/page/9/#findComment-588564864 Share on other sites

They are trying to stop modders from messing up online games for the rest of us. Take Halo 2 for example - That was fun till all the modders dominated every match. This is good news, I dont know why anyone would think otherwise... Unless you pirate of course. Julius Caro
agreedNo there not, if you were pirating games, MS makes $7 on every game sold for $60...thats there licensing fee, so for every game that you played and did not buy, they lost $7 Then dont buy their product, i really find it hard to belive that people playing backups are not pirating and people playing backups/modding are causing MS money to protect those legitamit users...Everyone who buys a 360 and plans to play it on live ( this is the key here as you can still use your 360) knows that modded consoles or disks is against the EULA, stop trying to get things for free that caused other people to work hard to create They "didn't earn" those 7 bucks doesn't mean that they lost em. Perhaps the person wasn't going to buy certain games in the first place. To be completely honest, modding a DVD drive is extremely different from hacking/decompiling/messing around with the contents of the game itself. Regarding to the Halo 2 example, that's more of MS' fault for not being able to detect it. Also, it's not that hard to get rid of people who mod the game itself with the 360, since there's a handy "Report" button. Jeremy1
A dvd firmware hacked 360 cant cheat anymore than you console can. For now. Who knows what could have been developed in the future? I'm not saying that cheating was the only reason to stop it, or even that it was the primary factor, but Microsoft had to put a stop to it. They "didn't earn" those 7 bucks doesn't mean that they lost em. Perhaps the person wasn't going to buy certain games in the first place. Perhaps the person shouldn't have been able to play the games at all then. Incase you don't know GoW was hacked. You can edit the config file from the game iso and reburn with your own settings. virtualmadden
Even before they started banning people I don't think I've seen anybody cheat. In fact, I don't really run into modders anymore in Halo 2. Even though, the less people out there who download their games and cheat the better. For the rest of those that don't cheat and so on, but have a modded console...it's to bad Microsoft can't help somehow.
