[Cancelled] Sarah Connor Chronicles (Terminator Series)

Recommended Posts

sigh.

All you seem to want is explosions and fast action. A TV show with TSCC's budget could never afford that every week.

Yup. This isn't that type of show. It's called Terminator, but you aren't going to get big 'splosions every week. It's a character driven drama that occasionally has action sequences.

What's great about the show? Hmmm...well it gives a much better insight to a character that suppose to be the savior of the human race. It builds on his distrust, or trust, of the machines that are seemingly out to kill everyone. It deals with how neurotic his mother is and how she is on one hand the worst mother in the world, but on the other, the best. It deals a lot with the issue of trust even within a family. Sarah doesn't trust that John can do what he needs to do to win. John doesn't trust Sarah because she has little faith in him. That's just John and Sarah. There's a whole other dynamic with Cameron and Derek.

Well I just can't believe that WB wouldn't try and find another network for the show. It has a lot of viewers and you would think they would try and put it on SyFy channel, or something.

Yeah they could shop it around

@mathachew wow childish or what?

And that's it?

It doesn't seem to have a complex plot at all, anywhere like what Lost has!

Unfortunately it's not the easiest show to shop around. Cable channels are unlikely to be able to afford the budget it requires and other networks won't touch it. It's a shame that the US is the only country that can really afford to make big shows like this, as it's unlikely that any other countries TV channels would pay for it either.

and yes, quit comparing TSCC to lost. It's like a gamer comparing Halo to Viva Pinata.

Nah, I'm genuinely happy to see it canned. The show was started based on the hype of Terminator Salvation when it was announced and they hoped it could continue to ride on the movie's coat tails to further regurgitate itself. Some people liked it, and there's nothing wrong with that, I just didn't care to see it use and abuse the Terminator universe establishment.

It was announced even before Salvation was greenlit.

While I'm still hopeful it will get it's 3rd season I am glad we got 2 seasons. Some shows like Firefly only got one, so the fact that we got 2 seasons is great. Even if Fox doesn't renew it for this year, another network could take it on, or Fox could even renew it for the next season. It wouldn't be the first time a show was cancelled and then brought back because of the fans. Family Guy comes to mind but there are plenty others that were revived from disc sales and general fan pleas. Who knows, maybe Fox will pass this coming seasons, regret it and ask them to come back next season. Seems unlikely yea, but anything is possible :)

Like Jiggah said, the series was released/announced before Terminator Salvation. I think the movie used the show as a boost. The show got people interested in Terminator again and then the movie capitalized on that. However I wasn't a huge fan of how they used the Terminator world, it was still Terminator in the end and well I love it all.

And Jedi man, knock off the Lost comparisons, they are very different shows. Not to mention SCC takes place in the Terminator world. Where most of its conflicts are already mapped out. It's not an original idea where anything goes, there are rules. Like Morpheus says, some can be bent, others can be broken ;)

I can't see the budget being much larger than that of Stargate or Battlestar Galactica, if it is then the producers need to find a new line of work.

Why are you continuing to compare Lost to Terminator?

Then WHY the hell is there a damn Poll comparing Lost to TSCC (And other shows) Season Finale?

That poll is BS! We all know NO way most people thought Lost SF is second to TSCC SF!!!

That Lost Season Finale was like the Second Coming!!!

*sigh*

I think I should probably leave this thread before I say something that will raise my level to 20%

Then take it up with i09 and not us, clearly they thought of comparing ALL the finales of the year...hence why Dollhouse is there as well.

A finale does not equal an entire premise of a show. But comparison of finales, yes, Terminator utterly killed LOST in terms of quality and storytelling for a finale. The equivalent of LOST to TSCC finale, would have been the finale for last year's LOST that hid the fact that it was a flash foward.

That poll is BS! We all know NO way most people thought Lost SF is second to TSCC SF!!!

I said this earlier but IT'S A SCI FI WEBSITE so of course the readers are more likely to vote for the sci fi show. What's not to understand here? If you want to argue the results of that poll, this is not the place to talk about it.

There's no way the show cost as much as BattleStar Galactica I think that SyFy Channel would be a good choice for TSCC.

Problem is, SyFy have already pretty much set in stone next years season with Caprica, Eureka and Stargate universe. Not to mention they've probably bought the rights to the stargate movies. I'm not sure they have a whole bunch of money floating around for new purchases at this point.

I'm going to post this, and some of you might not have heard of them but they're good people, and big fans of TSCC. That being said they also know all of the Writers, and producers of TSCC.

@skynextpodcast (unconfirmed) #TSCC for 13 episodes on Fridays in the fall, then Human Target in the spring.

The reason everyone thought TSCC was done is because they thought that Doll House and Human Target were going to be together this fall.

Monday -- "House," "Lie to Me"

Tuesday -- "SYTYCD," "Fringe"

Wednesday -- SYTYCD" results, "Glee"

Thursday -- "Bones," "Kitchen Nightmares" (with "Past Life" taking over after baseball)

Friday -- "Dollhouse"

Sunday -- "Brothers" at 7:30 out of NFL; "Cleveland" at 8:30, all others unchanged

UPDATE: Removed "Human Target" from Fridays, we're hearing that late fall or midseason is far more likely.

Edit

Actually, you don't know ****. You think, you hope, but unless you stood next to every voter, you don't know ****. And since Lost doesn't have an explosion every episode, you must also think it sucks. And I really didn't need to know how many times you came that night.

"TSCC is canceled best we can tell. It was changed because they're unlikely to put Human Target there. Will post official sked tomorrow..."

    • Zed 1.7.2 has landed with updated OpenCode models, bug fixes and other improvements by David Uzondu Zed 1.7.2 recently landed on the stable release channel, bringing a host of AI-related features including automatic context compaction and settings-based skill management, along with other things like better Markdown preview rendering and custom git commands in the graph view. Starting with the AI stuff, the developers introduced "/compact", a command that basically summarizes your conversation history on demand. This tool prevents your active chat window from hitting token limits by compressing older parts of the dialogue into a brief overview. In addition to that, the team relocated skill management to the settings UI, improving how the application communicates errors regarding those skills, and updated the OpenCode model roster to support DeepSeek V4 Flash, MiniMax M3, Qwen 3.7 Plus, and Nemotron 3 Ultra Free. External agent users can also monitor context window cost metrics and delete individual sessions directly from their history. Right-clicking ref labels in the git graph now opens a context menu that runs different actions against selected targets, kind of how VS Code does it. Here are some of the bug fixes this new release brings: The active agent fails to auto-select when creating a new git worktree. A scrollbar unexpectedly appears on wrapped code blocks in the agent chat. Collapse indicators for project headers appear when performing sidebar searches. Bracketed ellipsis title prefixes fail to show the ellipsis icon properly. Project icons render incorrectly in the recent projects picker. Diff hunk controls appear inside non-editable commit view multibuffers. The software update button hangs indefinitely on the downloading stage. Restoring an agent terminal in a remote project triggers a sudden crash. Splitting a pane that contains an active commit view causes a crash. Linux Wayland freezes when trying to read the clipboard from laggy external apps. Zed is a "newish" code editor trying to break the massive stronghold VS Code has on the developer community. Funny enough, the editor was created by former GitHub employees who worked on the Atom text editor (which Microsoft killed in 2022, several years after it bought GitHub). The project officially hit version 1.0 back in April, introducing platform parity for Windows and Linux alongside deep support for DeepSeek-V4-Pro.
    • 26H2 absolutely will support ARM Windows just not on devices that came with 26H1. This is evident by the fact I am running 26H2, which on my MacBook Neo and Surface Pro 12 (inch), within a VM.

    • The FIFA World Cup is not US centric.
    • It’s amusing how Microsoft is pushing IT admins as if this was a major, game-changing update. In reality, it’s just an enablement package that bumps the build number, which is disappointing compared to the more substantial 22H2 and 24H2 releases. Technically, 25H2, 26H1, and the upcoming 26H2 are essentially the same, differing only in support schedules. They could have included the Windows K2 improvements here, but chose not to. The era of Windows being in the backburner continues, and this 26H2 release feels like an afterthought. Shame, Nadella, shame.
