I just have to do another post. My last post, after reading it again a few more times, began to scare me. It puts scary images in my brain.

Speeding under the influence, drugs, alcohol, bad curry, etc is wrong. Full stop. No questions.

Speeding with ego is also wrong. Full stop. No questions. No if's but's or maybe's. Its just as bad as speeding under the influence.

Blaming low speed as the root cause of the accident (lets face it, that?s what Huezo is ultimately saying) is *insert word or perhaps phrase that best describes funny and stupid*

you're lucky it was just your car that was hurt and not you, it was because you were doing the speed limit, just think you do have an accident 2 or 3tmes the speed limit you will injure yourself badly or die.

frankly, speeding is for idiots... just...mental. there is a reason why they have speed limits you know.

1. Speeding increases your breaking distance.

2. Speeding decreases the amount of time you have to react to a situation.

3. The faster you are going the more severe an incident will be.

Exactly!

To add to that, it's no secret that your chances to end up in a car accident are directly proportionate to the speed. There's one exception, however, driving 60km/h in 100km/h zone is not safe and I hate people who drive slow in left lanes.

Bottom line, obey all traffic rules all the time. They are all there for a reason; some were made as a pre-caution, others as a result of a tragedy.

The problem here is one of attitude and arrogance. The driver seems to feel that "I am a better driver than these slow people, I am not the norm that these speed restrictions are intended for."

Got a big suprise for you. You are the reason for the speed restrictions, because you will be contributing to the RTA statistics sooner or later.

I usually drive faster than traffic. A lot faster. When everyone else is going 50km/h, I'm going 85km/h weaving in and out of traffic. If they're going 80km/h, I'm doing 140km/h. I have never even been close to getting into a car accident when I'm driving like this.

Good for you.

I am glad you aren't in the area I live in. I hate seeing people driving around like maniacs. Weaving in and out of traffic is not a safe thing to do no matter where you live.

I don't see a point in endangering yourself and everyone around you with careless driving.

A couple days ago some moron was tailgating behind me while we were traveling on a three lane road and decided to pass the double line into oncoming traffic while beeping his horn at me and then sped off like a maniac. These are the kind of people that cause or get into accidents. A little speeding is no big deal, I typically go around 10mph over the limit, but excessive speeding and reckless driving is a recipe for disaster.

imho speeding and safety are two unrelated things, and each isn't completely dependent on the other.

you get the autobahn, where there isn't a speed limit, and has a better safety record than US highways. why? because the drivers there are more responsible; they don't on their cell phones, engage in road rage, or do something that may impair their driving while driving fast.

speeding itself isn't that dangerous, but when people speed with haste, comes the danger.

Reminds me of the story about a guy who bought his wife a sports car:-

"Hi Honey,enjoy the new car?"

"Yea,it's really quick and handles so well"

"Any problems?"

"Not for me,...but I saw a lot in my mirror"

.

what bugs me is all the people that drive 10mph under the speed limit. if you don't feel safe driving the speed limit, then you are a horrible driver and you shouldn't be driving in the first place. when they set speed limits they take into account amount of traffic, road conditions, surroundings (houses, parks, schools, etc.), rain, and a bunch of other factors and determine what the average driver should be able to handle. if they can't handle that, then when **** hits the fan everyone around them is screwed

as for speeding being safer, i agree somewhat. if you are going with the flow of traffic, it you have a greater chance of being "boxed in". not necessarily on purpose, but since most people are going the same speed no one will pass each other and everyone becomes boxed in. when accidents happen people swerve, and they swerve right into other cars. you have no maneuverability.

if you are going 80mph and you turn your steering wheel 5 degrees to the left, you'll move over to the left way faster than if you are going at 40mph. so, even when you go faster the force of the accident increases, your reactions effects also increase. you just need to be able to compensate after your first move :p

people drive as fast as they are comfortable with. if they go too fast they can't absorb all the information fast enough to analyze what's going on, so it differs per person

i usually drive 7-10 mph faster than traffic. but i make sure to never effect those who's lane i'm going in. i leave enough room so the person that i'm going to move in front of doesn't feel pressured to put on the brakes or get nervous about me being too close. and i always use my blinker if there is someone in the other lane. but the main thing is to not get greedy and to push those close calls

so far 5 1/2 years without a speeding ticket or accident :)

How come every time I see a thread from you (the op) it involves drifting through public intersections, speeding, and running from the cops? Throw in a bottle of NOS and you got the Fast and the Furious.

Vin Diesel called, he wants his story line back.

Look, it's not always safe to do the speed limit, but I sure as **** am not gonna go bragging on the internet about how I speed everywhere and how I'm gonna do that everywhere. Will you come on here and tell us about how you mowed down some old lady cause she was going too slow through a cross walk? Grow up and obey the law and if you don't want to do that then don't come online bragging about it and include your liscense plate in your signature.

Let's face it, the worst drivers are the very young (who think they have more talent then they do) and the very old. Those two groups lead the statistics for the most incidents per kilometer driven.

And yes, I did some stupid risky stuff when I was younger too. It's a phase. Teenagers and young adults think they are invincible right up until the point where their luck runs out.

Hmm..

Thats very debatable... Especially in the UK. Young drivers, when called for, could probably kick the Ass of most older drivers. They just choose not to do so for the biggest majority of the time.

Hell, driving fast is fine, driving dangerously is a different matter, and this can be done at any speed..

There are times and places for speeding, and i do believe that some of these are on public roads.

That viewpoint is based on youthful bravado and isn't borne out by statistics. I, myself, have known a lot of young people who were involved in accidents.

Car Split Into Pieces

WALNUT PARK, May 29, 2007 (CNS) - A speeding car struck a utility pole in Walnut Park and broke into several sections, killing the driver, his passenger and a child who was struck by debris while walking with his mother on a sidewalk, authorities said Tuesday.

The accident occurred on southbound Alameda Street north of Manchester Avenue about 8:25 p.m. Monday, when a 25-year-old man lost control of his speeding red 1990 Ford Mustang, CHP Officer David Porter said.

The car skidded for several hundred feet and struck a power pole on the southwest corner of Alameda and 85th streets, ejecting the driver and his 23- year-old passenger, a man, even though they wore seatbelts, Porter said.

The driver died at the scene and the passenger was transported to Saint Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, where he was pronounced dead.

The impact caused the car to fragment into several sections, which barreled southbound, and some of the debris struck a 24-year-old woman and her 10-year-old son as they were walking on a sidewalk.

The woman and her son were transported to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center in Boyle Heights, where the boy was pronounced dead and the woman was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

couldn't help but chime in and register but i think its safe to say that most accidents occur because of speed inconsistencies... sure it would be nice to raise the speed limit up to lets say to the standards of the autobahn, but that wouldn't be too economical, would it? you would have to factor in many things like: amount of cars, ecological impact, resources to support and MANY other things. Countries that have the Autobahn most likely have a better public transit system, therefore there are less cars on the road. America on the other hand has one of the worst public transit systems, therefore there are MORE cars on the road. (You could also factor in the fact that cars probably cost alot more over there than it does over here since we, Americans, import more cars than any other country.) so upping the speed limit wouldn't be that smart, but making a minimum would probably be nice since THATS what causes accidents. and two, the ecological impact would probably devastate the treehuggers. it would produce alot more pollutants into the air, then therefore affecting the "ozone layer." im not saying that i believe in this global warming issue, but there are alot of people that would raise hell for it, and ORDER is what keeps countries in tact. resources would be a huge issue considering prices have never even gone down for gas, unless we decide to use a renewable source which we all know will never happen until all our non-renewable resources are drained. there are billions of factors that could be counted in! but i would have to say speeding is not safer if everyone around you is not going the same speed.

All of my accidents were while I was stopped...guess I should never stop.

There is a difference in driving recklessly and driving fast. If fast was automatically not aafe safe then there wouldn't be any race tracks.

In my experience more accidents are caused by:

1. Cell phone drivers

2. Driver going slower then traffic flow

3. Drunk drivers

4. Drivers that feel the need to pull int a lane when they see a car coming up fast thinking "I should make them slow down by being in their lane"....trust me, those idiots exist.

Driving fast and flat out street racing are 2 different things. It also doesn't say the cause. for all we know the kid modified his car broke something.

    • Windows Server gets DNS over HTTPS (DoH) support by Usama Jawad For the past few months, Microsoft has been previewing DNS over HTTPS (DoH) for Windows DNS Server, touting it as a foundational upgrade for zero-trust enterprise networks. It essentially introduces encrypted, authenticated DNS for the networks rather than transmitting DNS traffic in clear. Now, the company has introduced the general availability (GA) of this feature. The GA of DoH encourages organizations to deploy the solution in production environments without implementing a new client-to-resolver architecture. DoH helps improve the overall security of the network and reduces the risk of spoofing due to its zero-trust design. This is a significant change because pretty much every interaction with the network requires interfacing with DNS. DoH offers several advantages over standard DNS traffic, such as encryption using HTTPS, preventing unauthorized inspection, man-in-the-middle attacks, and traffic analysis. Since it leverages TLS certificates so that clients can verify the identity of the DNS server, it prevents spoofing through this authentication mechanism. Additionally, it's built on the DoH standard defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), which means that it should work with modern RFC 8484-compliant clients. Finally, it integrates into the existing network architecture seamlessly and can even run in parallel with standard DNS, so that customers can migrate to the new technology at their own pace. Microsoft says that in the past few months of preview, DoH has become more stable, and customers can confidently deploy it in production environments with proper guidance. Microsoft has emphasized that migrating to DoH is necessary for organizations that are moving toward zero-trust DNS solutions. Windows clients already support DoH, but the latest availability on Windows Server provides encrypted DNS to all endpoints. The company has also mentioned that "while this release focuses on encrypting client-to-resolver communication, support for encrypted communication between Windows DNS Server and upstream DNS resolvers is planned for a future update." You can follow Microsoft's guidance to deploy DoH here, but keep in mind that you need a Windows Server 2025 installation with the latest Patch Tuesday updates installed.
    • Lol I had one of these turn faulty in Jan, guess it wasn't just bad luck lol
    • I'm team Rossmann all the way. I have the exact same NVME, altough not in an array like him.
    • It had gone weeks ago. Although thinking about it I'm on the beta.
