oh, ok, test build. but the icons are slightly different from the current tango.
Shouldn't be - I haven't done a damn thing since I released 8.03 :p It could just be that my test-build exporting script is hardcoded to pull Gnome (it's the default, and my personal preference), and you've always selected one of the others.

FWIW, the others are still there in the Themes/ folder, if you wanted to use them instead - just copy them and the themes they inherit from, in descending order (so, for Tangerine, copy Gnome, Tango, then Tangerine, for Gnome, copy Tango, then Gnome, etc.)

Edit: Okay... so I added regedit:

sweet, it installed fine on my vistax64, although I am not using it right now because it feels really wierd because it doesn't seem to patch any of the icons in the user folder i.e music, favorites, documents, downloads, searches, p[ictures desktop ect.. when these are patched I will definitely use it full time, great work so far!

as soon as you got a final release out there, ill actually upgrade to vista x64 and this will be one of the first things to be installed.

was wondering about this... would it be possible for your patcher to patch the uxtheme.dll like some other patchers do so that we would be able to run unsigned themes straight away? that would be a welcome addition in my opinion (dunno if your patcher does this already).

I don't really want to get into it - it's a one-time patch, unless a new version is released, in which case you'll need a new uxtheme patcher, and I'd more than likely actually have to write it and maintain it. CFF Explorer can do hex editing, but tbh, you'd probably have a better experience using something purpose-built for uxtheme hacking, like VistaGlazz. Edited by vertigosity

i understand and agree with you there, by including a uxtheme patch, it would limit the patch to the service pack version you had installed on your machine, ah well, thanks anyways, any idea of a release date?
I've been too lazy/busy to do any more real work on it, but I'd like to have it out by the end of the month, if only so I don't have to change the version tag to 8.08 next month :rolleyes:

Yay! I'm so glad to hear that there will be Tango on Vista x64. I've been wanting that ever since I made the switch. Thank you so much.

same, I installed vista x64 on Saturday and I'm already sick of the stock icons. On the plus side I don't hate it as much as I used to and may even like it when I install 'Tiize'. On the visual style side of things, the thin taskbar mod is my fav, pretty much every other vista vs is too flashy/dark.

I'd like to incorporate the thin taskbar into "Tidy Aero Squared." I don't like rounded corners on my windows, nor do I like wide borders. I'm going to rework that theme as soon as I figure out how to hex-edit the necessary files. Most importantly, the theme needs to have the window title text color changed to FF FF FF and the text glow changed to 00 00 00 (black). This is to increase the titlebar text's contrast against darkly colored wallpaper. For the moment, I've just tweaked (outside of the .msstyle) the title text color while disabling transparency.

Very confusing stuff but I think it would go *very* nicely with tango, while still feeling like Vista and not trying to pass itself off as a GNU\Linux variant.

Not really... I haven't had the time/energy to even touch STTP in any way for the past few months, so probably not before Christmas.

Tango is perfect for me as it is.
Maybe the XP version, but I don't consider the Vista version in any way where I want it to be.

On the bright side, I haven't had any complaints about the 64-bit test, I'll take that to mean I caught all the corner cases back in July :D

      Nah. They'll milk the current generation in terms of design - controllers, consoles, but no meaningful hardware improvements. This is one reason why people aren't buying Xbox hardware - it's stagnant.

      Funny, but I didn't had the issue. All PC's at work are Dell and we had the culprit version of Support Assist for about 2 weeks until we got the new one. No problem at all. And for checking you can also use Dell Command Update, no need to search in windows settings. Just check the Upgrade History.

      Apple are scared of their customers! They have built a brand over the years of "it just works out of the box", but that slows innovation. Samsung's master stroke was the Galaxy Ultra: "Let's cram everything into one handset, make it so stupid only real nerds will love it, some of the features will work, some won't, but the audience will have such a high tolerance they won't care".
