My most hated (mebbe a bit strong) Doctor was Sylvester McCoy, just could not stomach him in the role, maybe it was because I'd grown out of it (I'm an older guy like you 2, 49) and had fond memories of Tom Baker.

With you 100% there, and Ace as well. My god she was a dreadful assistant.  I remain convinced to this day that McCoy was given the role with the express purpose of wrecking the show so they could cancel it.

Storylines were stupid as well, imperial daleks vs renegade daleks, cybermen who were more camp than scary, too reminiscent of 1960's England (complete with 'no blacks allowed' signs in shop windows etc.)

And lets not forget this... thing.

I mean really... OMG, what WERE they thinking at this point?

Ugh, did they really have to have Bill for the Xmas special?

I am kind of glad that she'll let the Doctor know that she's alive, after what happened.

The "Kandyman" actually, BBC wouldn't want to encroach on copyright even though it's obviously the same character.

i'd watch an episode of star trek tos over any of the new dr who's, any day. what's pees me of is how the bbc hypes up their programs...it's so annoying. making dr who seem like the best sci-fi show ever....when it's not. yes, they revived it, we get it and it's a classic, but the new ones are just so overrated and repetitive compared to the old ones.

to think the license fee keeps this show going...ughhhh. i can't be the only once who thinks it's hyped up way too much, cus when you watch it, it's average at best.

Might have been cringy (it was, quite a lot lol) but god damn if you didn't care about the Doctor and Rose or Martha or Donna etc. I mean, I loved Amy and Rory (and Clara but to a lesser extent, same with Bill mostly) but not the same way as the others in the rebooted series (especially Rose, sorry Rose haters!).

Clara for me ... before she became irresponsible and reckless.

AKA Doctor Lite

For me of the new companions, I'd say Rose. She was down to Earth, had a heart of gold (most of the time) and (to me) was beautiful. Also, her hair. Clara would be last for me, she just didn't do anything for me. Amy, man them gingers :D and Bill was OK but they never really did anything with her in her one single season except the usual OH WOW THERE ARE ALIENS AND STUFF OUT THERE AMAAZZZZINGGGG :p

Oh and Rory was kinda hot also. Not that I'm gay or anything. Not that there's anything wrong with that....Oh and Martha, almost forgot her and Donna! Martha was pretty cool, just again never really did anything with her or Donna except the save the world stuff and merging thingy.

The ending in the battle for Canary Wharf still gets me every time :cry:

As for companions, my heart belongs to Amy Pond.

I don't think I could pick between Tenant's Dr and Rose or Smiths Dr and Amy, they were both amazing in their own way.

    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
