iPod Touch - the New Flagship iPod

Recommended Posts

1. It won't look like the iPhone.

2. It won't be called iPod Touch.

3. I have doubts of the next iPod being multitouch.

source or theories? when you (and others) post in that formatt it makes people wonder if its from some site, or just an idea. Give us your idea on what the next gen ipod will be. don't say like the 5.5 gen cuz you and I both know that disign is in do for a make over, and many sites rumor a new disign. Plus apple wants to move towards the iphone disign..

so you want the next ipod to be as boring as the 5.5 gen? not that its boring. just nothing that says "WOW" to me. The new ipod with multitouch, OSX, 3.5" screen cover flow etc are things that say "WOW" to me..

There is a problem with what people anticipate and what is realistic. Obviously I would want a all so powerful iPod, but realistically speaking Apple has been rather pessimistic or held back by their product releases. This has been happening for a couple years now. Rumors for a touch screen iPod have been going around for a couple of years now, and what do we have? Sorry that Apple has released "boring" products for the past years. Maybe you should buy one of those "Worst keynote ever" tees while at it.

It is better to anticipate less rather then more. There has been too much let downs in the past keynotes. Obviously I'm just talking about rumors and how realistically those rumors have been achieved.

I really hope you would have a chance to say your wow in September, I have a large amount of Apple stocks dependent on it.

so your basing your opinions on stuff that happend in the past?

actually no multi-touch is a possibility. I had read on the Digitimes site about how the touch screen for the new iPod would be a cost reducted version of the iPhone one. Eliminating multitouch would be one way to do it. Might be a plain old touchscreen.

eirther way it would be nice. multi touch on the ipod wont be helpfull besides cover flow i guess. and photos. (current ipods have photo viewing) other then that idk.... but like I said have 1 physical button. press down once to skip tracks. hold down the same button to fast forward.

if you want to send apple feedback. just go to http://apple.com/feedback and click on the ipod (or product) of your choice and start the feedback.

Either way, make you and other's opinion heard. But I'm just saying, if in one month Apple is to be releasing a new iPod, production has probably already began. Apple has been rather aggressive on product strategies, they would not compromise the product line of one product (iPhone) with a similar product (Without the phone capabilities).

I can guarentee it won't look like the iPhone. Good luck!

1: Is this real or not?

2: If so, when?

3: If not, thread title really needs to be edited so as not to mislead.

we do not know. but really who cares? it drwas people to the site. does the source of this info say RUMMOR!!! RUMMOR!!!!!!!!1111 RUMMOR!!!!!!!! no, so don't worry about it

why not?

na uh. I just quoted from the article. if he took the time to read it, then he'll know this is the new high end ipod... ;)

I read the article and am aware of this. But the iPod is the high-end model. It's always been the most expensive and the most feature-filled model, so there's no reason to suddenly change a successful brand name. (There was the iPod Photo briefly, but it wasn't even all that successful until it was merged with the iPod.)

Anyway, the rumored iPod sounds interesting; some sources say it will essentially be the iPhone, minus the phone.

Fine. Then from now on I well say that my phone has a iPod. I refer to my phone's audio player as a iPod. My phone's audio player can do everything a iPod can and then some....

Therfore....I have iPod functionability. I am cool.

Sure, you can call it whatever you want. And so can Apple it's their product after all. (Y)

Major Apple event 9/5/2007

Apple's new line of iPods will indeed be introduced in September, in line with recent speculation and rumors. But contrary to the report provided by AppleInsider yesterday, the announcement will not be happening mid-to-late September. The company plans to drop the bomb on us with a major unveiling during the first week of September?specifically, September 5, according to our sources within the company. The fifth is odd day for an event (a Wednesday instead of the typical Tuesday), but we are told that the reason for this is the long holiday weekend. Whatever you say, your Steveness. It's also possible that Apple will make announcements on the 5th while shipping later in the month, which would validate the date range provided by AI's sources.

Our sources are slim on details for exactly what will be announced, but said that at least one of the things that will come out of September 5th will be a new iPod. When given a rundown of the AppleInsider report, they said that they weren't clear on the minute details, but from what thedoi> know, "it seems right." So that said, let's take a look at what AI wrote.

Four different models will be introduced next month, says AI, most of which will be NAND-flash-based and major evolutions of both the iPod video and iPod nano lines. Sources in the "far East" have allegedly seen fullscreen iPods that will have an OS that is based off of OS X. "What's interesting, however, is that the Apple has also been working on Mac OS-based iPod software for models that will retain their click-wheels?such as third-generation iPod nanos," writes Kasper Jade. "Interface concept videos recently published and then pulled fMacRumors consisted of genuine Apple material to this effeAppleInsider can confirm."

Perhaps this means that both a fullscreen video iPod is in the works and a more "regular" video iPod, both based on OS X but with different designs for different purposes. Even if they aren't rolled out at once, this would fall in line with general expectations of the analyst and Mac communities.

The products are up in the air, although AI believes that one of them could possibly be the rumored "iPhone nano." We cautiously agree that this is a remote possibility, partly because of the reasons provided in the previously-linked post and also because we think that an iPhone nano would surely take this event up a notch from "expected" to "Wow!" And according to our sources, this is a "Wow"-level event. Maybe they're just too hopped up on the Apple Kool-Aid, though. You never know, with these things.

What I find to be interesting is that this event, before the date was officially decided, was described to me as very major product launch, something completely unexpected. I was reminded that the iPod nano was introduced during the first week of September two years ago (September 7, to be specific), which quickly catapulted to the number one seller among Apple's iPod portfolio. Apple probably hopes to do something like that again.

Until then... I guess we're holding our breaths.

So the event is happening sooner than I thought. I have a 30 GB iPod (although I gave it to my dad) and an 8 GB nano (although I dropped it, and the casing is all scratched up), and yet my music collection has grown a lot over the past year. I'll probably get the highest capacity iPod this time around, hopefully a minimum of 100 GB.

    • WhatsApp slams Isreali firm, NSO Group, for trying to spy on its users by David Uzondu WhatsApp has come out accusing Israeli cyber-intelligence firm, NSO Group, of deploying a fresh wave of highly targeted "spear phishing" attacks against users, which its security teams successfully thwarted. The Israeli firm, according to WhatsApp, ran this operation like its usual one-click phishing campaigns, trying to get people to click malicious links that lead them to external sites. To coordinate the campaign, the spyware vendor created fake test accounts and groups on the messaging app. WhatsApp said it is sharing the specific malicious domains, ikhwancast[.]com, ghazacast[.]com, and fr24cast[.]com, because potential victims need this data to check if they were targeted across other messaging systems or email platforms. The NSO Group is infamous for creating and selling Pegasus, a military-grade commercial spyware capable of silently compromising smartphones simply by sending a message or placing a missed call via apps like WhatsApp or iMessage. Users do not even have to interact with the incoming notification before the infection takes hold. Once Pegasus manages to break in, the spyware harvests private data, letting operators read private messages, emails, photos, and documents. It also tracks precise GPS locations, records keystrokes, activates the device's camera, and monitors live microphone audio. Independent investigations by cybersecurity watchdogs like The Citizen Lab and human rights organizations like Amnesty International have proven that governments use this software to track humanitarian workers, journalists, diplomats, and political dissidents. These findings directly contradict NSO Group claims that clients use the technology to spy on criminals and terrorists only. In late 2021, the U.S. Department of Commerce added the firm to its Entity List, effectively banning the vendor from buying hardware and software from American tech companies. WhatsApp said in its blog post that the spyware vendor violated a permanent court injunction with this new spear-phishing campaign. This injunction, which took effect in 2025, strictly prohibited NSO Group from targeting WhatsApp and its users. The platform is now asking a federal court to hold the firm in contempt.
    • It would be surprising if even 3 year old Apple Watches (and not SE models at that) cannot run watchOS 27. Granted, it doesn't mean it would work as well. We'll see.
