iPod Touch - the New Flagship iPod

I ordered one of each:

160gb for my car (my own cash)

16gb touch to play with. It's a "business expense" because it has Safari and you know, I need it, for work to...manage servers..and..things...like stuff. It's all very complicated, just sign the paper please.

The ONLY downfall I can see with the touch, which is stopping me buying one, is skipping/pausing the track whilst in my pocket :(

The iPod Touch does indeed feature a widescreen display but will switch between the two modes depending on how you hold the iPod.

The iPod isn't going to get Safari. That's a higher-end feature more suited for the iPhone.

I'm getting the Touch 16gig. But I'm hoping there will be a remote for it soon. It'll be lame if you have to take it out of your pocket just to skip to next track or changing the volume.

Sucks that the iPod toch doesn't have the Notes application.

I'm thinking the iPod touch will be gradually upgraded via firmware, just like the iPhone is. Thus, in the future, we may see Google Maps, Weather, Notes, etc.

Frankly, I'm surprised the iPod touch will be offered up to 16 GB and yet the iPhone will still be limited to just 8 GB.

And yes, I'm getting the iPod touch. I've already pre-ordered it, actually. It's exactly what I've wanted for a while now... A music player with Wi-Fi.

Well, I thought I'd drop by my local Apple store on the way home, and nothing is in stock, other than what I believe are the refreshed shuffle. However, one of the employees said that most Apple stores will be getting the 3G nano within the next 1-3 days, and, obviously, the iPod touch will come on September 28.

Of course. It uses industry standard 802.11b/g Wi-Fi.

Although I would love to have more than 16 gigs, at least it's not hard drive base. I've known many people complain about their HD dying withing a year or so.

The only best way is to see these up close and in person. Thats why I will take a trip to best buy and a local owned mac store and see them, Sad that the ipod touch wont ship till the 28th... :(

You misunderstood my brother. I meant for the iPod Touch. You know, "touch screen."

I love the slick look of it, but it's not that convenient if you can't feel what you're pushing when it's in your pocket. Give me a remote compatible with it & I'm sold.

Let's hope so. In the past Apple has never been too keen on updating iPods with new features, they rather collect a whole bunch and introduce it to an updated generation. To this very day the initial iPod 5g never received the search feature of the "5.5g". (I still resent Apple a bit for that.)

The "new" iPod classic just isn't an interesting enough update after owning an iPod 5g for almost two years. To be frank I find it plain boring. So I'll probably get an iPod touch as well. Not sure if I want to spend the extra ?100 for a 16GB version though.

Amazing piece of kit - I really love it. But how much? For a 16gig MP3 player? Get real!
