You probably will enjoy part 3. You'll miss out on the story though, which is a big part of Halo imo.

Still, there's multiplayer - which will undoubtedly kick ass. So many things in Halo 3, there should be something for everyone.

Bottomline: if you like FPS, get Halo 3. You'll just miss the story because you haven't played Halo 1 or 2.

PA's in on Halo too today.

The juggernaut that is Halo is in high gear :woot:

Hey, there's more (there aren't any spoilers in the next part, it's just humor).

This is how the game ends

Greetings Halo Fans! Finally, the story can be told. News from the front lines of the gaming industry this week has pointed to copies of the anxiously awaited Halo 3 leaked onto ebay.

In the wake of this announcement, Tied the Leader was not to be outdone. This act of piracy and unauthorized e-Commerce represented a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in rogue Internet Journalism. Thus, we pooled our collective lunch monies and we scored ourselves a copy!

Since then, we have been frantically storming through the campaign on Easy! That?s just how we roll. Now that we have emerged triumphant from the story mission, it is our pleasure to share with you all the pearls of narrative for which you just cannot wait.

Behold!

TOP TEN SURPRISES IN HALO 3!

10. The Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson ride ?Brokeback? on a Mongoose ? not that there is anything wrong with that.

9. Cortona upgrades her behavioral profile to ?Vegan 2.0? in order to defeat the Gravemind in a triumphant battle royale.

8. The light that is emitted by the Ark only kills Nazis.

7. For only 200 Microsoft Points, gamers can download a skin that enables them to play as Chuck Norris.

6. The Arbiter survives the war, and settles down in the MidWest to become the industry-leading owner of Dodge dealerships in the region.

5. The Warthog achieves a turbo boost when its exhaust manifold is injected with Mt. Dew Gamer Fuel.

4. The Brute Chieftain climbs atop the Empire State Building for a final boss fight against a swarm of angry UNSC Hornets.

3. The Chief?s helmet comes off at the end, and he looks just like Bill Gates.

2. There is an intermission in which a kickline of Flood Warrior Forms perform the dance number from the video for Michael Jackson?s ?THRILLER?.

1. Last line of the credits? ?To Be Continued!?

You heard it here first!

Try to contain your jealousy. You will get your turn?

I'm really excited about this quote here from Frankie. :D

Yes, I am too. Especially after seeing some (not all) of the maps yesterday. Most of them seemed to be fairly mid to large scale maps, so more, smaller sized maps will be very welcomed. I prefer smaller maps anyway. :p

One question. I'm not even going to bother buying Halo 1 or even 2, so would I still enjoy part 3?

Added to the fact I've never played any Halo game and was a Sony fan up until the purchase of my 360 9 months ago.

Yes, you will definitely enjoy it, there is no question. As status-seeker said, you will only miss out on the story, but even playing the campaign (on co-op or by yourself) will be fun, it is a great experience.

If you want to get up to speed on the story, I recommend downloading the Cutscene Video Libraries from Halo 1 and Halo 2, available here. Take about an hour to watch those and you'll be ready to Finish the Fight. :D

Check out all the other stuff!

I just lost about 15 minutes in here: http://halo3.com/believe

Can't believe how awesome that is made. Kudos to the model builders/painters/whatevers. Really, really nice job.

Cheers for that.

Is there anywhere I can get a short synopsis of the story so far? I have Halo 1, but never finished it and then never bought Halo 2. I'm still stoked for 3 though and don't want to be left out of the story.

Edit: NM, just saw a link to the cutscenes a few posts up

Holy ****! That was awesome! It was kinda lame in the beginning and I didn't really get what they were getting at, but then when you see the end, wow  kick ass! Can't wait baby! :D

I still don't get the whole "Believe" thing.

    • AltSendme 0.4.1 by Razvan Serea AltSendme is a minimal, cross-platform application designed for fast, secure, and private peer-to-peer file transfers. It allows users to send files or entire directories directly between devices without relying on cloud servers, accounts, or any personal information. Everything is encrypted end-to-end using modern protocols like QUIC and TLS 1.3, ensuring both strong security and low-latency performance. Transfers are verified with BLAKE3 for data integrity, and interrupted downloads automatically resume, making the experience reliable even on unstable connections. You can transfer anything—images, videos, documents, and more. Integrity checks are performed on both ends, so your files are automatically verified for correctness during both sending and receiving. AltSendme works seamlessly across local networks or long-distance links, capable of saturating multi-gigabit connections for extremely fast delivery. With built-in NAT traversal and encrypted relay fallback, it connects devices almost anywhere. The app integrates with the Sendme CLI and will soon support mobile and web platforms. Fully free and open-source, AltSendme offers a lightweight, privacy-first alternative to traditional cloud-based services, removing size limits, upload costs, and unnecessary data exposure. AltSendme 0.4.1 changelog: Release Highlights Self-hosted relays: Run your own iroh relay so transfers don't rely on public infrastructure. Includes a full deployment template in deploy/relay/ with Docker Compose for a VPS and configuration examples for production use. Fly.io support: One-click deploy template for Fly.io, including a quick-start config (fly.dev.toml) for testing without a custom domain, plus production setup with Let's Encrypt and your own hostname. Relay settings UI: New Settings → Network panel to choose how AltSendme connects: automatic public relays, custom self-hosted URLs (with optional auth token), or disabled. Test connections, verify latency, and see live relay status in the footer. Disable relays: Turn off relay servers entirely when you only need same-network transfers (e.g. LAN). Direct connections only. No relay hop required when devices can reach each other. Android graduates from beta: Android is now part of the regular release cycle alongside desktop. APKs ship with each version (universal, arm64, and armv7). Other improvements Private relay access control via shared auth token Relay fallback notifications when a custom relay is unreachable Broadcast mode toggle in sharing settings Android release build fixes (split-per-ABI APKs, universal APK preservation) UI polish: mobile safe-area insets, dropzone layout, transfer progress animation Bug fixes for minification-related serialization issues and system tray icon loading What's Changed feat(relay): add relay status functionality and settings UI (a120cdf) feat(relay): implement custom relay server configuration and verification (51276c7) feat(relay): add configuration for private relay access and enhance observability features (48fbabf) feat(relay): enhance relay URL validation, display connection status (d4fffa0) feat(relay): add RelayChangeGuard component and enhance relay-related translations (16ba514) feat(broadcast): add toggle setting for broadcast mode in sharing UI (ca6d977) fix(relay): correct QUIC discovery port, pin image, templatize fly.dev (52a2ba5) fix: More broken serialization due to minification (67491a9) fix(android): preserve true universal APK across per-ABI builds (e9f256f) fix(ui): conditional safe-area insets padding on mobile (1182f0e) refactor(transfer): CircularRing component animation fix (944572b) chore(android): drop x86 and x86_64 release APKs, keep universal+arm64+armv7 (34ada0b) Download: AltSendme 0.4.1 | ARM64 | ~9.0 MB (Open Source) Download: AltSendme for MacOS | Android Links: AltSendme Home Page | GitHub | Screenshot Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
    • You are mostly right about the ephemeral nature of it. As I mention in the article, if you dont add a second device or take a backup of your account before uninstalling it, then yes you will lose access to your account. That said, in terms of actual user experience when you sync multiple devices your message history carries across and there's also a Saved Messages chat like there is on Telegram to send messages and attachments between your installs. But yh, what you point out are correct and its not trying to emulate Messenger or Telegram.
    • OK so SearXNG is a meta search engine that you can install locally or use via a public instance. It scrapes other search engines which you choose and then sorts the results. Not as complicated as multiple relays
