How much longer until a majour shakeup in Leafland?

Oh, they're probably still thinking of qualifying for the playoffs and "making a run".

If they don't trade Sundin for a useful player and a few picks this year then there is no hope for them. Give it up guys. This is not the squad (and realistically, this is not remotely the squad).

He definitely is, but is Washington worth it?

Not at the moment, but who knows what will happen in a couple of years time. Kudos to AO for sticking with them, if if was in his position (i can dream can't i?) i would have probably wanted to move to another team that has a better chance of winning the Stanley Cup (like Colorado for instance...)

Yeah, from what I've heard it was a dirty hit/play? I didn't get a chance to see what happened, so I don't really know.

What do you guys reckon is going to be happening in Toronto? I personally see Fletcher coming in soon, but will Sundin really waive his no-trade clause?

If we had a GM with job security then they should get Sundin to waive his no-trade clause. Rent him to Philadelphia for Jeff Carter and a 1st round pick and then re-sign him as a free agent in July. We surely aren't going to need him this spring. Of course this would be dependent on whether or not Peter Forsberg returns. Apparently he is skating with Modo in Sweden.

Now that Sidney Crosby is out, perhaps Pittsburgh will become a Sundin bidder. I'm now hearing that one month may be the optimal length of Sidney's absence.

Other teams mentioned as being interested in Sundin has been Detroit, San Jose, Vancouver, Calgary, Dallas and Anaheim.

Oh, and all that I read was that he (Sidney) fell awkwardly into the boards. I didn't see the play itself.

I'd like to see Sundin in Vancouver. He's definitely the spark that's necessary to getting Naslund back to his sniper status. The Canucks do have a wide variety of young talent that could be parted for a Playoff performer like Sundin.

I wouldn't mind seeing Alex Burrows or Luc Bourdon + 1st and/or 2nd round draft pick(s) for Sundin. Leafs will probably need to begin to rebuild if Sundin is traded and the only way to do that is start off with young talent.

I'm watching the Pittsburgh/Washington game right now, it's a goal-scoring festival out there! :D

I agree with what you said. It'd be excellent if the Canucks acquired Sundin. As for the Leafs, they need to rebuild from the ground up if they are to have any success in the future. I heard on HNIC and TSN that most of their players currently playing are locked in long term deals so the "success" if you want to call that the Leafs are having it isn't going to change unless some serious work is done. The struggle the Leafs are having reminds me of how Oilers were last season after Smyth left for NYI.

I am also watching the Pens and Caps game. Quite good so far.

Rumours about that it is done. JFJ will be (or has been) fired by the Toronto Maple Leafs:

Also, Sidney's injury has been upgraded from one month to 6-8 weeks.

Edit: The JFJ firing was confirmed at a press conference. Cliff Fletcher is now the Leaf's interim GM.

How to Fix the Toronto Maple Leafs:

by DAVE PERKINS

1. Exhume Harold Ballard and make him chairman of the board. He, too, was a terrible owner, but at least he would make decisions, unlike this paralyzed collection of money changers who know puck-all.

2. Hand out designer bags for fans embarrassed to be seen in the Air Canada Centre. Pinstriped designer bags for the lower bowl, brown paper for the upper deck. Add a special Maple Leafs plastic bag for dog owners only, for use on pick-up duty.

3. Go completely into the tank. Buy out and release Tucker, Kubina and Blake, for starters. Pay Sundin whatever it costs to waive his no-trade clause, but accept only draft choices in return, because no one in power obviously can be trusted to judge incoming talent properly.

4. Into the tank II: Play Raycroft more. They're closing in on a shot at Steve Stamkos, the consensus No.1 draft choice. Finish 30th and the worst they'll pick is second overall, which, granted, still might be too far down the list for them not to screw up.

5. Sell the team to an owner who won't focus on hijacking stadiums from taxpayers, or the NBA, or soccer, or condo towers or 22 per cent profit margins. Sell to an owner with deep pockets who wants only one thing: A Stanley Cup regardless of what it takes or costs and who is smart enough to hire good people and stay out of their way.

I love the concept of playing Raycroft more to ensure we end up 30th in the league (and thus get the best draft lottery pick). I also loved the puck-all comment. :D

    • Indeed - drives me mad - usually because Refresh is hidden in the full menu.
    • Firefox has had rounded corners for many years. I take it you're not a fan of modern browsers?
    • The problem is in the fundamentals of how businesses are allowed to operate and the change should happen in the basics and certain consumer friendly and moral practices should be enforced by law. This would fix so many things, not just this ages old default browser issue which is a tiny drop in the backut that includes a flood of privacy and other issues.
