Kotaku is stealing my Pics

Recommended Posts

IMHO $200 is too low....First they steal your pictures and use them on their site, second, they make money on their site and indirectly off your pictures, third, they purposely crop the picture so that it doesn't show the amateur date the pictures were taken, fourth they offer a bogus $200 to shut your mouth. I would demand more and threaten them that if I don't get the amount I want, I will not only go even more public but slap them with a lawsuit, expose them and seek out to ruin them. It is so enraging to see how easily people get away with some things...

Since you seem to know so much, how much would a normal freelancer expect to get from 2 relatively blurry pictures with an "amateur time stamp" in the corner? I think this whole thing was a bit of a misunderstanding and Kotaku have been very nice about it. Prince made some money he wasn't intending to, Kotaku avoided a bad publicity stint and everyone's happy...

The coverage this got seems a bit over the top to me.

I think they did wrong and were obviously trying to cover their tracks by editing the pictures etc but in reality everyone does this these days and unless it's a professional picture then I can't really see the big deal.

It isn't their property though, it doesn't matter if "everyone does this," that doesn't make it right though.

I think he means stories like this dont usually get this much coverage.

like he said it happens everyday, and while that doesnt make it right, you dont usually get this much press coverage about every story like this.

Glad he got it sorted though :)

    • I do not remember anything happening to Apple and Google for bribing people not to make Apps for Windows Phone. Edge barley has a foot print to matter. If the other browser companies want more of the Pie, they need to do better. I use Brave on all my personal device. However in industry, Edge of default, as we can manage it easier with MS tools.
    • On the one hand, it shouldn't be difficult. You buy a computer, you decide what OS you want, which browser etc. Simple enough. But that's the techie side of things. My sister, my mother, wouldn't bother with such a thought. And I'm pretty sure that if you presented a window asking them what to pick they would say, "I don't care! I just want to access my Email!"
