Rappy Veteran Posted February 12, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 12, 2010 Except WrestleMania is almost legendary, it's a well known brand name for the PPV and getting rid of it would probably anger a lot of people. yeah I am just waiting for the day that TNA names their main PPV Starcade :p
LOC Veteran Posted February 13, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 13, 2010 Except WrestleMania is almost legendary, it's a well known brand name for the PPV and getting rid of it would probably anger a lot of people. Oh I agree with you, totally. But Vince is on some good crack or something with this one. The REASON Survivor Series is an "obsolete" name for a PPV is because WWE doesn't do ****ing Survivor Series style matches anymore (maybe one or two a year if we are lucky). That's WHY it's obsolete, no other reason Vinnie Mac. How about doing SS matches for the entire PPV like all these other gimmick style PPV's you are trying to come up with lately? He's a moron now lol
Rappy Veteran Posted February 13, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 13, 2010 Although plans can and likely will change, the plan was for Chris Jericho to win the world title in the SmackDown! Elimination Chamber match in two weeks. That would allow 'Taker to go off and face Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 26 while Edge would challenge Chris Jericho for the title at 'Mania. They would play off the past tag-team angle when Edge got injured. At that time, Jericho stated that he was the backbone of the team and went off and got The Big Show as a new partner. As always, things can change so nothing is at all confirmed at this point.
timster
In a survey sent out to the WWE Universe this morning, WWE asks fans what their level of interest is in the following potential PPV event themes: Tournament Event: Single elimination "bracket style" tournament where Superstars would compete in multiple matches during the night to become the tournament winner. -- King of the Ring Street Fight Event: Main events would include"street fight" matches where there are no disqualifications and pin-falls count anywhere. Superstars often compete in normal street clothes. -- maybe bring back the hardcore belt for this one Legends Event: Match participants would include WWE Legends from the past. -- just what everyone wants to pay to see, a couple of century old guys pretending to beat each other up Money in the Bank Event: The main event "Money in the Bank" match requires Superstars to climb a ladder and retrieve a briefcase hung high above the ring. The winner can "cash in" the briefcase for a championship title shot throughout the year. Qualifying matches earlier in the event will determine participants for the "Money in the Bank" match. -- well, they already have this. the match at Wrestlemania. but a tourney to qualify for the match could be used for NXT and at the same time, introduce a title for that brand WWE Draft Event: WWE's annual Draft where Superstars and Divas learn which brand they'll be a part of for the next year. The Draft is often the beginning of new conflicts and matchups. -- a draft on PPV?? yeah, that'll fly. why not just make us pay for Raw or Smackdown too Battle Bowl Event: Random tag-teams compete together - sometimes arch rivals - with the winning teams being put in a 2-ring Battle Royal. The winner could potentially receive a championship title match. -- hmm, this could be interesting but would get stale fast Roulette Event: Main event match stipulations would be determined by the spin of a roulette-type wheel. -- another non-ppv type gimmick without the "random" choosing of the participants War Games Event: Teams of 5 collide in 2 cages. 2 participants begin the match with a new participant added every 5 minutes. This process is alternated between teams until all members from both teams are present.) -- so, it's pretty much the Elimination Chamber with 10 participants divided into 2 teams of 5 the only one that could be the least bit entertaining would be the Money in the Bank, as long as the participants each year are all new to the WWE

+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted February 15, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted February 15, 2010 The problem with Survivor Series is pure storytelling... Setting up these 4-man teams, creating the random collaborations took longer-term setups than the WWE currently works to. Having a PPV so often as WWE now does, storylines span like 1 or 2 PPVs, but that's just 4 months. They get more $$$ from a story, and yet they are over in a matter of 3-4 months. No longer do we have the LONG running feuds, the payoff comes far too quickly and the setup is way too clunky. Survivor series needed a lot longer timescale than that. Wannes
Pff ever since the new website I'm unable to follow the sport. I have to chose between French or German as language - though my language is Dutch - and apparently the site doesn't work whenever showing video's or anything else. Bummer. Growled Member Posted February 16, 2010 Member Share Posted February 16, 2010 It seems like a dumb move to cancel ECW to me. Sure it has lower ratings than the other two shows but nothing they replace it with is going to do any better.

Sure it has lower ratings than the other two shows but nothing they replace it with is going to do any better. well ECW is no 3rd rate and has become the graveyard for wrestlers who don't fit in or not being used so it's for best. The ECW name died when Vince made it PG. I like the idea of NXT promoting the future stars

Rappy Veteran Posted February 17, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 17, 2010 Source: PWInsider Ezekiel Jackson is not only the final ECW champion, but is technically the shortest reigning ECW champion ever. At Guilty as Charged 2001, The Sandman won the Title, and held it for 6 minutes, 32 seconds, before losing it to Rhino. From the three count to the credits rolling and fading to black, Jackson's reign was 2 minutes, 59 seconds. The reason Ezekiel Jackson won the title is because Vince McMahon wanted Jackson to have momentum as he will be heading to the SmackDown! brand. There was a thought of Christian retaining, to give the crowd a happy ending, but that was shot down. Some wanted to honor the old ECW on the show, including some old names coming back for cameo appearances, but the thought was that it was more important to get WWE NXT over, while closing out ECW as quickly as possible. Tommy Dreamer will be working for Dragon Gate USA on March 27th in Phoenix. He works for Tajiri's SMASH promotion on March 26th in Japan, so he will work that show and fly straight back to the US for the Dragon Gate event. Rappy Veteran Posted February 17, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 17, 2010 In an interview with WWE Magazine's special 2010 WrestleMania 26 Almanac, WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin says he still has no interest in fighting Hulk Hogan, despite WWE's repeated attempts to make the match happen at the past few WrestleManias. "After I retired, for two or three years, they asked me, 'Do you want to wrestle Hogan this year? Do you want to wrestle Hogan? And the answer is: No, I don't. "I don't care to wrestle Hulk Hogan. I don't think it would live up to fans's expectations." Austin says his match with Dwayne "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson at WrestleMania 19 in 2003 was his "retirement match." Austin isn't looking for one last rematch, because he doesn't think it could be as good as their past classics. "That was my last match, and I'm not looking for a re-match. I don't it would be as good as what we've done before because we've both been out of the ring for some time. Could it be done? Of course. But there's no use talking about it. ... I definitely do not have any interest in delivering anything that would be second-best to what I've done before." When asked about his favorite WrestleMania match, Austin his WrestleMania 17 main event match against The Rock, but admits that turning heel and aligning himself with Mr. McMahon that night was a bad idea looking back. "Looking back, it wasn't the best thing we ever did," Austin said. "Now, if I could go back, as soon as that match ended, when Vince walked up to me, I would have shaken his hand and said, 'Watch the Stunner,' and dropped him right there in the middle of the ring. That's hindsight being 20/20!"
