Odds are we're in a line between a black hole and the sun (space is huge*, and in 3 dimensions, you can't limit yourself to 2 dimensions when drawing lines) And even then, what's wrong with the magnetic poles on earth reversing? It doesn't happen overnight (it takes ages), and the magnetic poles on the sun flip every 11 years or so.

* Look up the "Hubble Ultra Depth Field", Makes a great wallpaper.

That's exactly the problem - magnetic poles reversing is a cycle that takes a LONG time, every hundreds of thousands of years.

If the blackhole, sun, and earth were to line up, the poles would INSTANTLY be switched. It's not just a matter of magnetism - the continents would be copmletely rearranged and it'd basically be the biggest earthquake to the point where the entire world is killed.

Note that i'm only talking about the stuff I saw in the video from the history channel... I'm not a strong believer or anything.

None of that stuff would happen at all

And that black hole would have to be really, really damn close to have any effect on us (our moon only has slight effects)

umm, this is a valid thing to look into everyone.

There are the mayans, ancient chinese, and many other cultures who have their calendars end at 2012, dec 21st.

Let me let you know about our current situation, and what is supposed to happen in the next 5 years....

About 7 years ago, a sun spot appeared on the sun. This is not an odd event, but is a signal, that within the next coming years, there will be a flip of the polars on the sun. The thing that does make this sun spot interesting though, is the shape, size, and how long it lasted. Most sun spots will appear on either the north or south side of the sun, range in the size of some huge planets, and will last around 3 months ( it may be days though..). But this sun spot, appeared in the middle of the sun ( such has never been witnessed ) , was the size of a very small planet, and lasted for but 3 hours or so. So scientist are thinking this polar flip is going to be very strong and abnormal to the normal ones we have, predicting that tons of radiation will spread through out space. And this is were our planet, and today falls in. We are in the middle of global warming, and our o-zone is very very weak. If it doesnt improve significantly with in the next years, we will be facing some bad threats, that we can do nothing about.

When the sun flips its polars, it will spread a ton of radiation. Our o-zone will be to weak to absorb it all. Who knows what it will really do. But the mayans say this is not the end of the earth, but just a rebirth.

I have done a ton of research on this, just because, for so many ancient cultures to see the same thing, and for their knowledge of the time, its just really eerie. The mayans mapped out our galaxy, including the milkyway. They had knowledge and other things that we dont even know about.

You dont have to believe in the destruction of the world, cause that is really highly unlikely. Believe in the destruction of life though.

And once that happens, an eclipse will happen...And after that great eclipse, all the amounts of radiation that leaked in through the o-zone, not being enough to wipe out all life but give us a "rebirth" will genetically alter some humans and give them rare, amazing powers and abilities. :)

Seriously though, I do get concerned when I read the evidence pointing towards the possible end of the world but I personally don't think it will happen.

I'm wondering, in your black hole option you say it will change the solar system, how so? Is the only possibility that giant earthquake, or can it change it in other, non global catastrophe ways?

Exactly...It is the end of their current "age". Much like how the age of pisces will end and usher in the age of aquarius...

That said, I think that date will see a great change in the way people think and act, for better or for worse...we can only speculate...

You are absolutely correct.... It's an Aion or age end date... as you very well are probably aware of.... the three days of death then the rebirth of the sun or (son) begins on the 21st and ends on the 25th... this equinox cycle is not celebrated until Easter in the Spring equinox.

Sirius, and the Three Kings (Orions belt "stars") all point to the horizon where, on Dec. 25th, the sun rises... therefore, the three kings, followed the star to the east to see the birth of the sun.

How smart were those egyptians? Damn...
