Update:

I got to drive it around and shortening the shift really helps, its a good 3 inches shorter than it was. The transmission I put in it shifts nice and I used full synthetic oils for the transmission and rear differential.

Grats on the working transmission. What brand oil did you use?

I don't care what other's have said in this thread. You saw what you wanted and you are doing the work to make it your own. BRAVO!!! I've been working on my apartment over the last year and a quater. I've put in cherry wood flooring, painted and renovated my bathroom (including plumbing, painting, flooring, cabinet/sink/faucet replacement), replaced my refrig which caused me to "fix" a cabinet above it so it could fit, did various work on furniture restoration/making, mounted my new Sony 37" Bravia on to an existing entertainment center (that took some engineering), and am currently slowly repainting my kitchen. I plan to replace the windows in the bedroom and living room myself, and I look down the road to replace my bathtub/shower with a more japanese style design. My home is awesome, many people who come over are astounded by the way it looks and think a professional did the work. I smile.

RISE FROM THE DEAD!!!!!

Update: I might have someone interested in it, again. I'll be kinda sad to let it go but one less headache for me. I had to replace the water pump before I went to basic training. Not much else has gone on with it since I've last updated this.

Yeah, it became a money pit, parts are hard to come buy and expensive. I'm kinda sad to get rid of it, if the kid can get the money. But I can always find something that's as fun as it. But if the deal falls through, there may still be some updates.

DONT GET RID OF IT! You put so much work into it. And yes its a money pit, but your getting rid of all the old parts. You have a few more major old parts to go and youll be done.

I mean the ENGINE IS NEW, so the timing is good. The transmission you rebuilt. and etc.

Keep with it bio please!

Well I'll see tomorrow if the deal falls through. I would like to keep it but I really don't have any place to store it, it's sitting outside at my dad's shop right now. If I had my own place with a garage it would be a different story but we will see what happens.

Are YOU selling it or is it your dad that want you to sell it?

I'm like that with my M3. BMW's always are a bit of a money pit, but in the GFC, I can't really afford to keep it. Plus it's value has been nearly halved in 3 years, what an absolute rip.

Only if you buy a crappy one... None of the BMW's I have had have ever really needed anything much done to them.

Any higher end car will suffer from high depreciation, especially when it is replaced by a newer model. The only M3 that actually retains any value over time is (IMO) the only REAL M3 - the E30...

    • I hope this encodes in to AV1 or AV2 as currently tiktok uses h265 and h264.
    • Qualcomm reportedly in talks to build custom video chips for TikTok parent ByteDance by Karthik Mudaliar Qualcomm is reportedly in advanced discussions to provide custom chip-design services to Chinese tech giant ByteDance, the same company behind TikTok. According to a report from Reuters, Qualcomm could be involved in designing custom silicon tailored for ByteDance's massive data-center workloads. If it goes through, the deal would make ByteDance one of Qualcomm's early anchor customers for its fastly growing custom chip-design division, For years, Qualcomm was the king of making smartphone processors and modems. The company has also been moving into the PC ecosystem and other formats such as on-device AI for Android XR headsets. However, this particular deal is about Qualcomm's custom Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). For a platform like TikTok, ByteDance needs hardware that can help it ingest, process, and serve billions of short-form videos daily. Generalised hardware is no longer the most cost-effective and efficient route, which is why ByteDance is trying to develop custom Video Processing Units (VPUs). VPUs designed specifically for ByteDance’s algorithmic needs could drastically reduce data-center power consumption and improve encoding speeds at an unprecedented scale. The underlying tech behind these processors is actually from Qualcomm's recent acquisition of AlphaWave Semi, a high-speed connectivity specialist company. By combining AlphaWave’s high-bandwidth IP with Qualcomm’s architectural expertise, the company could begin mass production by the end of 2026, if the talks go through. All this also comes at a time when U.S.-China tech relations have dwindled. Escalating trade frictions between Washington and Beijing have severely impacted the export of high-end AI chips from U.S. firms like Nvidia, AMD, and Lam Research. Yet, the Qualcomm-ByteDance discussions show that U.S. tech companies are still actively seeking growth avenues and are open to doing business with China, where regulators still permit. Reuters notes that the outcome of this deal could be uncertain, and ByteDance might also seek partners other than Qualcomm. via Reuters | Image via DepositPhotos.com
