So i gave in and finally decided to buy TF2 while it's still $9.99 instead of leaching off the free weekends(in which i discovered liked the game). All that's left to do is wait for the download to finish and then time to play again.

I have to say, I really thought I would like this game but I just don't get that much fun out of it when I play with random pubbers like I do when I play Counter Strike or really any other FPS for that matter. This game really does require teamwork to succeed well and when playing with random people the teamwork just doesn't happen

Each class has a specific task to do, people play and expect to be able to own everyone with one class which isn't going to happen, just worry about getting kills and having fun if you try to win the game and expect your team to use teamwork and do as you say you're just going to get ****ed off, try playing one class and find out what class counters your class then avoid him in the future, when I started playing I'd die then switch class to counter the class which just killed me and I'd just quit after 5 minutes.

Couldn't disagree more -- teamwork is essential in Team Fortress 2. Go to any team without it and you'll see.

You just agreed with him :p

What I find happens a lot is people just get caught up in the killing and lose the main objective of the map.

ie) People going for more kills rather than pushing the cart in payload, or going for more kills rather than helping grab Intel in CTF.

There are some servers with bots (mostly achievement servers) but that requires going online first. There isn't really a single player mode where you play the various maps versus bots a la Unreal Tournament.

Why?

Asking for bots is a legitimate question.

I used to play against bots in TFC/CS when I wanted a bit of practice or just some fun.

I have to agree. I just bought TF2 and played a few rounds on public servers. Permanently being owned because you're a n00b with little to no practice is rather frustrating.

As to the discussion about the hardware requirements a few pages back: I'm playing it on an iMac 20" (early 2008) which comes with a ATI HD2400 XT (128 MB VRAM). Running on Windows 7 and using the ATI Preview drivers from Windows Update the game is perfectly playable at the display's native resolution (1680x1050).

There aren't any actual bots (the only bots are just fake players), but there is a project called Omni-bot to add proper bots.

One cool thing, due to how they've coded and hooked into the engine (The guy's working with Valve on getting it working), the bots would work in any map in any mp source game, as long as they're provided with way points.

Edit: Weapons might be a bit harder, but due to it working in TF2 (normal SMG, shotguns, melee weapons, minigun, rockets, pipe-bomb, etc.) it should work fine for most cases.

I play TF2 so much as of late the game does not get old. I would be happy to play with some fellow Neowiners!

Feel free to add me vortex566 on Steam. Would also like to get some L4D action as well.

3 Normal TF2 servers (2x26 slot and 1x30 slot)

2 Bball TF2 servers

40 L4D servers

Come and play with us ^^ I don't have L4D but I think if you register at the forums there are 8 private L4D servers to play with people in the Special Attack community.

    • What they really need to do is automatically spell "loses" and "lose" correctly since nobody seems to know how to anymore. Then they blame spellcheck/autocomplete and don't realize autocomplete is just filling in the word for them automatically so it was misspelled in the first place.
    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
