wait is this update out? what are the achievements needed to get the new stuff

It's not out yet, but there is an achievement list here. The descriptions will either go up tonight or tomorrow.

One more golden wrench....

I had some vain hope that because my handle has been Amazing Wrench for several years I would somehow work my way into getting one. Alas, I have not... yet!

I just crafted everything I had in the hopes of getting the Golden Wrench. Yes, even my hat. Now I have nothing but a crappy towering hat and some miscellaneous items.

Towering pillar of hats is awesome, how could you not like people running around with the hat equivalent of the Leaning Tower of Pisa on their heads?

For those following the Drunken F00l "scandal" here is a chat log answering many questions...

23:14? @Drunken_F00l: my statement is: frown.gif

23:14? @Drunken_F00l: also I'm not that stressed out about it

23:14? @Drunken_F00l: if Valve wants to be yet again

23:14? @Drunken_F00l: then let them

23:14? @Drunken_F00l: whatever.

23:14? Dark-Dragon: Drunken_F00l: tell us, did you do anything wrong? i mean like more than analyzing the drop times?

23:14? @Drunken_F00l: there was a leak

23:14? @Drunken_F00l: the drop times were leaked

23:15? RabidZombie: I guess by a Valve employee

23:15? @Drunken_F00l: yes

23:15? @Drunken_F00l: valve apparently thinks the leak is my problem

23:15? Nwks: wow, so much for "random chance"

23:15? @Drunken_F00l: yes

23:15? @Drunken_F00l: the random chance is all BS

23:15? @Drunken_F00l: the times were predetermined

23:16? jorgenson: hey DF if you had kept the times to yourself... you prob would not be banned

23:16? @Drunken_F00l: jorgenson: I wasn't the source, I had no control over that

23:16? Dragonshadow: Drunken_F00l: so they haven't said anything to you yet?

23:17? @Drunken_F00l: Dragonshadow: I called Robin. We talked about it.

23:18? Cyborgmatt: @Drunken_F00l: Dragonshadow: I called Robin. We talked about it.

23:18? Cyborgmatt: does that mean you agreed to the ban?

23:18? Cyborgmatt: or was it unexpected

23:18? @Drunken_F00l: I called him after I saw the ban

23:18? @Drunken_F00l: he wanted to talk earlier but I said I couldn't because I was busy at work

23:20? SonicXVe: are you involved in the other two people getting banned?

23:20? @Drunken_F00l: SonicXVe: no

23:21? Subaru: Drunken_F00l, did your api key get removed too, or is the website just being slow

23:21? @Drunken_F00l: Subaru: I don't know anything about that. My guess is it's being slow.

23:23? Kigabit: Drunken F00l, I assume they changed all the predetermined times after they found out they were leaked?

23:23? @Drunken_F00l: Kigabit: Yes, absolutely.

23:23? DSpawn: DF, so was it actually true that you got it by chance, or did you know almost for certain you where going to get it

23:23? @Drunken_F00l: DSpawn: I knew for certain when it dropped

23:23? Kigabit: Did you have to craft on the exact second it was supposed to drop?

23:24? @Drunken_F00l: Kigabit: The craft had to reach the crafting server at the exact second. First craft after the time was reached got the wrench.

23:24? ohyes: Did you actually know the exact times, DF?

23:24? @Drunken_F00l: yes

23:25? @Drunken_F00l: all of them

23:25? BatterieS: do you know the next time?

23:25? @Drunken_F00l: the times were changed

23:25? baronbeetle: so the times were down to the second, not minute?

23:25? @Drunken_F00l: baronbeetle: Yes

23:25? cvarley: Drunken_F00l, how many wrenches did you have? Just the one?

23:25? @Drunken_F00l: cvarley: You can only get one.

23:26? ohyes: So, DF, did you tell voidy and thomas?

23:26? @Drunken_F00l: ohyes: I don't know about these people. If they had the times, I don't know how.

23:27? DSpawn: are you the only person who knew the times or could someone else have found them, perhaps using the new/old api? or a different method?

23:27? @Drunken_F00l: DSpawn: Others had them.

23:30? unkz: Drunken_F00l: what about tf2items? you shut it down?

23:30? @Drunken_F00l: unkz: no

23:30? EwOkLuVeR69: f00l you should've crafted moer than once around taht time to not make it so obvious

23:31? @Drunken_F00l: EwOkLuVeR69: yes

23:31? Dist: Drunken_F00l if the ban wont be lifted, will you create a new steam account and buy a new copy of tf2?

23:31? @Drunken_F00l: Dist: I already have multiple accounts but I will miss my 6dig

23:31? DSpawn: DF - do you even care you dont have a wrench?

23:31? @Drunken_F00l: DSpawn: no

23:31? FannyPack: here's my question DF and I won't ask another one cause I know you're busy answering other questions. But do you suppose you'd be ousted if the whole forum didn't rage about it?

23:32? @Drunken_F00l: FannyPack: I have no way of knowing. The whole forum raging was inevitable anyways.

23:32? FireSlash: Drunken_F00l, is tf2items down due to load? Or did something happen there too?

23:32? @Drunken_F00l: FireSlash: Heavy load

23:32? Dark-Dragon: Drunken_F00l: you were piling up items for quite some time, did you know about how this event would work earlier?

23:33? @Drunken_F00l: Dark-Dragon: no i was saving metal for new hats

23:33? Totakeke7: Why'd you do it, DF?

23:33? @Drunken_F00l: Totakeke7: I wanted a wrench :3

23:33? netshroud: Drunken_F00l: is the VAC ban related to golden wrench frop, or not?

23:34? @Drunken_F00l: netshroud: The vac ban was because I had a script to craft as fast as possible before they removed the smelt metal blueprint and also because I used leaked times to get a wrench.

23:35? ohyes: lied, obviously.

23:35? @Drunken_F00l: ohyes: Yes, the TF2 team lied to you about how the wrench drop works

23:35? Sturmcock: DF, stop avoiding the question. How were the times leaked?

23:36? @Drunken_F00l: Sturmcock: By a person. Not anything in the binaries

23:36? Silv3r: Did someone from valve contact etc.

23:37? @Drunken_F00l: Silv3r: Robin emailed me and gave him his home phone number wanting to explain what was going to happen before it happened. I was too busy at work to call immediately.

23:37? Cyborgmatt: Drunken_F00l, was the drop time leak done on purpose or accidental?

23:37? @Drunken_F00l: Cyborgmatt: Not accidently

23:38? hobomania: Drunken_F00l, did you enjoy the GW whilst it lasted?

23:38? @Drunken_F00l: hobomania: I didn't even use it

23:40? Silv3r: You said you knew times?

23:40? Silv3r: But yesterday you said it was all random...

23:41? @Drunken_F00l: Silv3r: I was covering my . It didn't help.

23:42? RabidZombie: LunarPrince: He didn't use logic. He used insider information then a script.

23:43? @Drunken_F00l: RabidZombie: The script was first actually. It was only for uncrafting/recrafting metal. It's part of the reason for the ban.

23:43? Dark-Dragon: Drunken_F00l: give us robis number, come on you want to do it, dont you? biggrin.gif

23:43? @Drunken_F00l: Dark-Dragon: That wouldn't be right

Towering pillar of hats is awesome, how could you not like people running around with the hat equivalent of the Leaning Tower of Pisa on their heads?

I don't like the way it looks. :(

For those following the Drunken F00l "scandal" here is a chat log answering many questions...

Wow... so it isn't random. It's based on when you craft an item. While I was wasting my items with useless crafts, I tried to craft a bunch of items at once (without realizing that a failed craft wouldn't result in anything). The exact moment I did that, someone found a Golden Wrench. I wonder if I would've found it had I crafted scrap metal instead of trying to craft random items together.

The TF2 site is so bloody slow at the moment, and it's even affecting steamcommunity.com. Also the Steam servers are down. :|

Is it because of TF2, the wrench scandal, or a mass swarm of people hitting F5?

That would be very useful.

(The following is based off what we can assume from that sole image strip alone)

While it would be useful, I do not think it should be done. An engy could easily build up a lvl 2 sentry safely behind front lines, then push out with his team and instantly have a lvl 2 sentry in a key area......

Sure its likely going to have a setup time after moving and what not, but chances are it will be faster than dropping a lvl 1 then upgrading it. Given that the only difference between it and a lvl 3 is turning speed, health, and the lvl 3 shoots rockets, it would be almost too powerful if an engy could easily build a lvl 2 sentry in safety then move it where he wants to go with it. It will likely have other downsides though, maybe it will be slightly weaker than normal lvl 2's? Or have the setup time of a lvl 1 plus the upgrade animation to a level 2? Maybe its redeploy time cannot be increased by wrenching it? I am also expecting that an engy cannot change weapons without dropping it first, and as others have suggested, he may even move slower with it due to it being larger.

Yeah it's just a game I don't analyse it, it's meant to be fun.

    • Microsoft's Copilot Cowork now generally available with usage-based billing by Pradeep Viswanathan Back in March, Microsoft first revealed Copilot Cowork, a new agentic AI experience in Microsoft 365 Copilot through which users can assign tasks to AI to complete in the background. After testing the service with a limited set of customers in Research Preview for a few weeks, Microsoft announced the general availability of Copilot Cowork to customers in the Frontier program on March 30. Today, Microsoft announced the general availability of Copilot Cowork worldwide for Microsoft 365 Copilot customers. The company also highlighted that Cowork became the fastest-growing feature in the history of its Frontier program. Unlike regular Copilot Chat, Copilot Cowork can run complex, long-running, multi-tool tasks from start to finish in the cloud by using organizational context through Work IQ. When compared to Claude Cowork, Microsoft claims that Copilot Cowork will be 30% to 40% cheaper on average with its Microsoft 365 connector. For now, Copilot Cowork runs on Anthropic models, including Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 4.6. However, Frontier customers can now use GPT-5.5. Microsoft also announced Cowork 1, a secure fine-tuned model coming in the next few weeks, which is designed to handle everyday Copilot tasks at a lower cost. To access Copilot Cowork, a Microsoft 365 Copilot user subscription is required. Usage is billed separately through Copilot Credits, based on model use, context retrieval, tool calls, and runtime. Pay-as-you-go pricing is set at $0.01 per Copilot Credit. To offer IT teams full control over usage costs, Microsoft provides spending limits, usage alerts, user-level controls, reporting, and prepaid usage plans for organizations. Usage-based billing begins today. However, Frontier customers who used Cowork between March 30 and June 16 will not be billed until July 1, 2026. The Microsoft 365 Copilot app now includes a toggle to enter the full Cowork experience. Microsoft is also adding partner plugins, with Enosix, Harvey, LSEG, Miro, monday.com, Moody’s, Morningstar, S&P Global Energy, and TeamsMaestro available now. Adobe, Atlassian, Box, Canva, Databricks, and others are coming soon.

    • KillerPDF 1.5.1 by Razvan Serea KillerPDF is a lightweight, portable PDF editor for Windows built for users who want full control without subscriptions, installers, or telemetry. It runs as a single executable, making it ideal for USB use and field work. You can view PDFs with smooth PDFium rendering, navigate quickly with thumbnails, zoom, and shortcuts, and reorganize pages using drag-and-drop. It supports merging multiple PDFs, splitting documents, and extracting selected pages. KillerPDF also allows inline text editing with font matching to preserve the original layout, plus annotations like text boxes, freehand drawing, highlights, and reusable signatures. You can search full text, copy content easily, and print documents with flattened annotations. Designed as a free and open alternative to bloated PDF tools, it works fully offline on Windows 10/11 x64. No runtimes install. Everything needed is inside the EXE (targets .NET Framework 4.8, which ships with every supported Windows release). KillerPDF key features: High-quality PDF rendering via PDFium Edit PDF text inline (double-click to modify text) Page thumbnails and fast navigation with zoom and shortcuts Merge multiple PDFs into one Split PDFs and extract selected pages Drag-and-drop page reordering Font matching to preserve original document appearance Text boxes for notes Freehand drawing tools Highlight overlays with adjustable color, size, opacity Undo actions and clear per-page annotations Create, draw, and save reusable signatures Click-to-place signatures anywhere Full-text search with highlighted results Drag-select or Ctrl+A to copy text Print with annotations flattened Portable single-file app (~10 MB) No installer, no admin rights required No account, no telemetry KillerPDF 1.5.1 changelog: Performance Save Flattened PDF now uses multiple CPU cores. Page rasterization is parallelized (PNG encoding runs across cores; the PDFium render step stays serialized since the library isn't thread-safe), so large documents flatten significantly faster while the UI stays responsive (#68). Fixed PDFs that failed to open with "Unexpected EOF" now open (#72). The failure was PdfSharpCore's Flate inflater (SharpZipLib) rejecting the FlateDecode cross-reference stream on multi-revision PDFs - files that open fine in browsers, Acrobat, and Foxit. KillerPDF now detects this and re-opens the file losslessly through PDFium, preserving selectable text. Thanks to @javajon for the report and a detailed reproduction. Grid view renders every page. It was capped at the first 26 pages, so longer documents stopped loading partway through. Tiles also stream in progressively now instead of blocking until the whole document is rendered. Grid Ctrl+Scroll no longer reloads every page when the zoom is already at its limit and nothing would change. Removed a stray horizontal scrollbar (a thin green line) that could appear across the bottom of grid view. Files on UNC / network shares (including the WSL \\wsl$ filesystem) are copied locally before opening, avoiding partial-read failures on network filesystems. Changed Minimum zoom lowered from 10% to 5%, so grid view can pack more columns (helpful for wide/landscape pages) and single-page view can zoom out further.
