That's medieval mode and yes some of the new weapons are overpowered there (that katana which restores full health after kill, it's major drawback is not being able to hide it until you kill someone, which doesn't matter in mm), new Demoknight set is also overpowered in medieval but it seems that Valve just doesn't care about it (me too).

This.

Medieval mode is possibly the worst example of game balance in TF2. It's a quick little muckaround gamemode that provides a distraction from the regular play of normal CP/AD/PL/CTF.

I've been spending a lot of time in trade/idle servers not only to gain items but to practice since I'm not all that skilled to jump right into an actual game. Every time I join a game I fail badly and I don't want to upset anyone. I am a terrible sniper, I don't know if it's my mouse but I miss most of my shots especially if the target is moving. Well here is a video of me playing on a trade/idle server. Notice how I am a terrible sniper and one of the players blurts out that I must be using an aimbot. :/

It's funny though since I am a terrible shot, I never use cheats, hax on any Steam games and my account has been in good standing since 2005.

That's simply not true. If it were, it would mean any two loadouts going head-to-head against each other should have an equal chance at killing each other:

Example:

rocket launcher + shotgun + equalizer vs. Cow Mangler 5000 + Gunboats + Disciplinary action

Clearly, the first loadout has an advantage in pure damage done.

I could do the same with any other classes, there are weapons that clearly provide more damage, and other weapons that provide an advantage only in certain situations, and frankly it's getting harder to keep track of which weapons I should be using in certain situations because I like to frequently switch my loadout depending on what I'm facing.

The_Decryptor is talking about weapons not loadouts. You cant compare loadouts like that (soldier with a shotgun vs one with gunboats?) so its better to just compare the rocket launcher to the Cow Mangler 5000. The rocket launcher has a base or 90 gamage and can fire 4 shots before reloading for 360 damage while the Cow Mangler 5000 has a base damage of 81 (or 108 charged) with 5 shots before reloading for 405 total damage. It may have more total damage but you do less damage per shot, slower reload time, no crit shots and its does less damage to buildings.

The Original vs Rocket Launcher: same weapons but having rocket fire from the center makes corner shots on buildings harder because you have to expose yourself more.

Also I would not use Gunboats with the Cow Mangler 5000, that gun does less rocket jumping damage and as a bonus you can rocket jump higher with it.

I am not a really good sniper either (what I do against snipers better than me, is fully charge my rifle, then peek around corner and bodyshot (unless the sniper is overhealed it will always kill him).

I'm not sure trade servers are the best place to practice, you may try tr_walkway, which is a map designed for training, you can spawn bot make 'em jump strafe etc.

I've only ever actually seen one aimbot user. It was the most annoying thing in the world. I was under an overpass and he sniped me from above -- annoying as hell. He even had a prior ban on his account.

Steam Trading: Out of Beta and available to everyone!

September 6, 2011 - TF2 Team

It seems like just yesterday that we announced the Steam Trading Beta on the Team Fortress blog. That's when we looked it up and discovered we actually announced that four weeks ago, and over one million items and game gifts have been traded by beta testers since then. And that's pretty inspiring. Also, frankly, terrifying. Because when we say it felt like yesterday when we announced that, we mean we literally have no memory of anything from that blog post up until the entire TF2 team woke up in a tub filled with ice cubes this morning. We can't pinpoint specifically which organs we're missing, so we figure our best bet is just to play out the day and see if anything jumps out as different (no heartbeat, inability to go to the bathroom, missing circulatory system, etc.).

At any rate, as of today Steam Trading is officially out of beta, in the Steamworks SDK, and available to everyone. Two new games will now have tradable in-game items: Spiral Knights, the cooperative adventure from Three Rings and Sega, and our own Portal 2. And remember, this is just the beginning. We can't wait to see what our fellow gamers and developers are going to come up with to move Steam Trading forward.

To celebrate, items are on sale in the Team Fortress 2, Portal 2, and Spiral Knights in-game stores.

If you've gotten this far into this blog post and still have no idea what we're talking about, don't sweat it: There's an entire Steam Trading FAQ online to answer any questions you might have.

If, however, you've gotten this far into this blog post and have no idea what we're talking about because you woke up in an ice-filled tub this morning, and are wondering whether that queasy feeling you're having means you "have an upset stomach" or "are liverless", please get in touch with us, because we'd like to compare notes.

Changed my Microsoft Wireless mouse to a cheap wired Logitech mouse. Definitely an improvement with accuracy with the sniper and other classes, I am able to get more shots and don't miss as often.

Try a logitech wireless mouse/keyboard, they are amazing, and are just as good as wired USB mouses/keyboards. I have a set, it really helps me play TF2 like a pro...

I traded the Scout's gear and a Vintage camera beard from Monday Night Combat for a Strange Medigun and a a refined metal.

I think I got away with highway robbery.

Nice ;) I'm saving up for the Mutton Chops and Pipe, I have around 5 ref atm - almost there.

Here's a discussion thread with some leaks:

http://forums.steamp...d.php?t=2167576

That's not a leak just FYI, that was a post to the HLDS (Half Life Dedicated Server) mailing list by a Valve employee.

Valve generally always notify HLDS prior to any update, or updates which have implications for GSPs.

Check it for yourself: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/index.html

A big update is on the way, you say? Oh! More hats!

TF2 is just a playground for little kids these days. :(

Have you tried playing 6v6 or highlander lobbies, I highly recommend it, higher level of play than pubs most of the times.

To get an idea how professional games in these formats look checkout this guy, doing awesome competetive TF2 casts daily.

While we're on the subject of hats, my dream loadout is complete, now all I need is the 2-misc-slots update :)

edit: Confirmed update for tomorrow

    • Started implementing weapons! Here's a little sneak peek! 👀 Animation was done inside of Unreal Engine using Control Rig! Really useful tool, I don't have to go back and forth between Blender and UE, you can basically make tweaks while the game is running.
    • Keep in mind Intuit has lobbied like crazy to keep taxes complicated so they can continue to sell tax software. They also got caught hiding their legally mandated free version so they could release a second one that pushed countless people into charges they didn't need to pay to file. Intuit leads the charge on inventing problems so they can sell you the solution and disrespecting you in the process.
