HardWare Morph

It's Valve's new facial animation system, it's meant to run on hardware (If you have a compatible ATI card), but the TF2 models don't have a larger number of flexes compared to HL2 and such (so there's barely any slowdown compared to non-hwm models)

Type "find hwm" into the console and you'll find the 2 cvars (set them both to 1)

Edit: And "cl_new_impact_effects 1" and "cl_burninggibs 1", nicer effects for bullet impacts, and if somebody gets blown up who was on fire, their gibs remain on fire.

Wish I could run it on my notebook. As it is, it'll probably blow up if I did turn it on :p .

If you can run HL2, you can use the HWM models, they aren't much more "resource intensive" than normal models (the number of flexes is about the same)

Edit: @ +rm20010: Yeah, looks like HWM is on, HWM models have wrinkles and such.

Are you sure? Because if it does blow up on my face, I'm sending you the bill :p . That said, my notebook is GeForce Go 7400, would it be alright for it?

Nice. (Y)

For comparison purposes, here's another shot taken months ago:

Is it on in this case? If it is, then I guess HWM was always enabled for me. EDIT: I'm looking at the heavy's right face; a wrinkle is indeed missing under his lower lip.

@Scirwode: what video settings do you use for TF2? Just comparing it to my laptop; I was getting an average of 30s with medium-low settings at 1280x800. And also for XP; my laptop chokes like hell for gaming in Vista.

800x600 medium-high settings after overclocking my graphic card to 516/822. I'm currently in the process of upgrading my graphic driver but so far no success yet. Every driver I used beside the one I'm using right now does not display MKV videos.

I played the strangest game last night. As an engineer you could simply type "build 3" to build a second sentry and "build sentry" to build a second dispenser - it was hilarious. I wish the screenshot I took actually came out because it showed a pyro taking out two of my sentries and a dispenser in one go.

Create a txt file named it autoexec.txt in: G:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\<username>\team fortress 2\tf\cfg

Then just change the .txt to .cfg (make sure that it is actually autoexec.cfg rather than autoexec.cfg.txt)

Then you add the cvars you want to be auto executed every time TF2 starts up in the cfg file (which can just open with notepad).

I believe that each cvar must be written on a separate line, but as I said before I haven't done it in years so I'm not sure.

Are you sure? Because if it does blow up on my face, I'm sending you the bill :p . That said, my notebook is GeForce Go 7400, would it be alright for it?

Enabling the HWM models don't force it to run on your graphics card, they just force what would normally run on the graphics card (if you had a compatible ATI card) to run on your CPU.

They are more resource intensive than the normal models, but not by much (they're about on-par with normal HL2 EP2 models)

If you wanted the HWM models then follow what Decryptor said on the previous page and add the cvars from his instructions to the cfg file, other than that it should work, if not then you need to find someone who knows what they are talking about ;) There's no chance of it breaking your game though so don't worry.

Heh, interesting.

In other news, I've got the sandvich!

Been trying really hard to get the first milestone, was taking ages, then I managed to kill the right guy at the right time with the right medic healing me, and I earned a domination for him :p

Then in the next round I gained 2 more achievements without even trying >.<

    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.

    • Not sure what country you’re in but in many countries you can absolutely jail the sellers behind businesses… in fact I’d say in most countries you can do that
