wow, they really gave up on the Hardcore players....

Im seriously just keeping my Wii because of Homebrew, If it wasnt for that i would sell it right now...

I'm definitely selling mine now. I was hoping they would include something for the hardcore gamer, but it looks like they're not even trying.

They could have done so much, F-Zero, Kirby, Zelda, i dont know, SOMETHING!!!!, wow, its a low blow, Nintendo is a successful videogame company because of those games... c'mon.... I guess its our punishment for not buying more Gamecubes, they just gave up on normal games...

well that was entertaining. since i'm at work i was following the official thread on GAF and the reactions were hilarious. nintendo just gave the hardcore crowd the finger.

GAF is alive?

Holy hell they did not put enough RAM into their servers.

500 - Internal Server Error

:p

Will all you hardcore gamers please stop your complaining. What did you expect in the first place? Of course Nintendo is focusing on the casual market and it's working for them so why all the bitching. I pretty sure you are all either 360 or PS fanboys who just came in here to make fun of Nintendo because they choose to focus on a different audience then your a part of. I own both a PS3 and a Wii and while I play the PS3 more guess which one everyone else in my family plays. No wonder they are making so much money right now.

i think they were so eager to get casual games out, that when they hardcore drought came to the attention of nintendo, they started development too late and we probably wont see anything till late next year.

not even Punch-Out Wii! was talked about (if it exists)

It's a moral battlefield, and the risk involved with giving your core audience the middle finger. That's not cool. We don't expect a PS3 or 360, but we do expect a better balance, at least one giving us a little more in terms of hardcore games.

Yes, Nintendo are getting smug and pompous about riding the casual wave, but it shouldn't mean they completely shut off the people who did buy into their console over the last few years.

All they had to do was throw the hardcore a bone of some sorts, but they really didn't. Even hint at a new Mario/Metroid/Zelda or confirm they are being worked on if it's to early to debut them.

Or *gasp* showing a completely new IP aimed at more hardcore gamers.

I'm happy with AC, but honestly, if that wasn't announced I'd be pretty annoyed.

No matter what our opinions are, imitation is the highest form of flattery, and M$ showed yesterday, that they are trying to emulate some of their advances.

The President did say that the Mario and Zelda teams are at work on titles. It was right around when he called them the evergreen titles. He just didn't hint much as to what they will entail. I'm betting Zelda + motion plus for sure though.

Auch, that wasn't enough.

We all KNOW another Mario/Zelda will come, but actually having that reassured directly would have helped them out with the hardcore audience.

Not just, "by the way, our studios are doing work". I mean, duh, they're getting paid to do something.

Enlighten me please. I'm at work and this is the closest I can get to any "game" related websites.

they introduced the wii motion plus, which is a little box that plugs into the bottom of the wii remote for better sensitivity and it comes with a wii remote jacket that fits it all

arg... after getting pulled into a meeting 2min before the keynote... I just finished reading it all :p

What do I expect from Nintendo...well nothing specific but here goes:

- some sort of new gadget or a game that involves a gadget

- a new channel that uses the Mii's in some way

- another game targeted to the super-casual market

check, half-check and check

yup.. that's Nintendo, as predictable as usual.

Not saying it's a bad thing, since they have open admitted that they are targeting the casual gamers and they are doing it well. good for them

I can't wait to get home and see the video of WiiMusic - lol. MS and Nintendo have successfully made fun of them self on stage, wonder if Sony will do the same - hehe :p

that conference proves nintendo only cares for casuals. nintendo might contribute to the death of core gaming

Completely right. Revolutionizing the way that games are played was the first step in that conspiracy.

that conference proves nintendo only cares for casuals. nintendo might contribute to the death of core gaming

No.

The only thing we need to worry about is if MS and Sony start going casual crazy and neglect hardcore in anyway.

Casual and hardcore can coincide and even meet and play together.

However what we don't want is a neglect of hardcore because casual right now = ???$$$.

that conference proves nintendo only cares for casuals

This however is starting to become quite tr:whistle:le:

You guys have horrible horrible memories. Last year smash bros brawl was announced after the press conference in a closed door round table meeting.

I wouldnt be surprised if they do it again. They have something listed for nintendo tommorrow closer to the end of the day (the official e3 website) so they might just do it again.

    • XBOX is at the end of its generational life cycle and wasn't selling much anyway. They need to figure out the pricing for XBOX Helios. However, I'm not buying the DRAM shortage with AI preferring HBM. I think it's industry gouging.
