Killzone 2

Recommended Posts

They are well aware of the complaints and even discussing changing them. Read it in the news last week. It won't be in time for launch obviously, but it could come as a patch. I really hope so anyway.

Have you got a link for that?

The only official response I've read to anything controller related is about supposed input lag

Hey folks,

I have been looking at this with one of our Game Designers and we are starting to come to the conclusion that this is down primarily to the design decision to make the game weightier. Killzone 2 is not a 'twitchy' shooter like some of you might be (rightfully) accustomed to and we think it might simply be down to some growing pains on some people's behalf. In this demo we also did not add the section that comes before this where a player would naturally climatize to the controls and have simply dumped you on Corinth River, so I think a lot of these complaints will be negated by the players natural progression through the full game.

So at this moment we are not considering it a bug, or anything that needs to be patched.

We do suggest however not having the sensitivity on full as this can make the appearence of a delay seem more aggressively. Work your way up the sensitivity scale slowly as you become more accustomed to the game.

Also seeing if there are any post-processing settings on your TV you could shut off without negating the visual quality of the game or if you have a 'Gaming' setting to try that as few TVs are set up as standard for gaming and often require some tweaking.

This does not mean we are going to pull a blanket over our heads and stop evaluating this and looking into it and allowing you guys an adjustment period and I will pick this up with some coders on Monday as well to see what they say.

What i am however interested in, what FPS games have you just recently or are playing currently. The majority of people on here seem to not have any issues adjusting and we think it might simply down to a certain mindset more than anything, which is of course of interest to us too from a playability standpoint.

I would also like to take this opportunity to ask you all to show some restraint and keep the forums a bit more tidy. We pride ourselves here on having a mature forum and encouraging healthy discussion, but the past few days it has been anything but healthy and a lot of the conversations have simply been drowned out. So please take a deep breath, take a break and if I have any more information about this I will let you know. I'll try and be on here this weekend, but with the massive amounts of posts and threads I can't promise to read and react to everything. I do after all have my actual job to do :smileywink:. I also want to thank those of you that have helped identify what is going on and to let you know that we will continue to take on all constructive feedback to help us make better games.

Have a good Friday folks.

EDIT-1: Just wanted to add that I heard from Sony something else you might want to try out. Having a direct input of your PS3 to your TV, rather than it going through a secondary system can improve things. Try it out and let me know if you notice some difference.

EDIT-2: See IronFistedChamp's post with some potentially interesting info.

EDIT-3: I am hearing some strange reports of people experiencing the game differently after a re-download. Now this makes no sense to me at all from a technical point of view, but worth looking into I suppose.

I say we petition them to patch custom controls into it, then I can buy that XCM Cross Battle Adapter and use a real controller :p

Good luck with the bombs/valves in the SP campaign :p

Can't be bothered re-uploading everything to somewhere that supports thumbnails :p

In an era where lots of you are crying out for digital distribution, man up and support 720p images

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUU

Those images make me want a PS3. How many times will this happen? First LBP now Killzone 2 :(

Too bad I can't afford it :p

I foresee Heavy Rain or God of War 3 doing it next :p

Hopefully the price cut when it comes may help you - However I think hoping for ?199 in the UK is wishful thinking... most likely be ?249, maybe ?229? Gotta be a minimum of ?50 anyway.

By the way, collecting Intel = sweet rewa:woot:oot:

[quCollect Intel in Killzone 2, Get Rewards on Killzone.com

Hi everyone!

It’s Victor Zuylen from Killzone.com here. With Killzone 2 receiving lots of positive attention from the press, I figured now would be a good time to give you a taste of the bonus content which can be unlocked on Killzone.com through the game.

After you’ve uncovered a piece of Helghast intel in Killzone 2’s single player campaign, you can connect to Killzone.com to claim a special reward. These unlockable rewards come in various shapes and sizes – some are simply printable versions of the propaganda posters you see in-game, others contain details on the wildlife of the Maelstra Barrens or pages from a Helghast soldier’s secret journal.

Example 1

Example 2

(Please note: you will need Adobe Reader to view these documents.)

If you’re good enough, you can even unlock and download physical objects from the Killzone universe. “That’s impossible,” I hear you cry at your monitor, “You can’t to download physical objects through the Internet – let alone objects from a fictional universe.” Ah, but then you’ve obviously never witnessed the venerable art of papercraft:

Well, that’s enough spoilers from me. Stay tuned to PlayStation.Blog and Killzone.com, because we’ll be talking about other ways in which the game and the website interact soon!

That must be a bitch to m:pe :p

Do we really need 720 images of a demo we've all played

Very unnecessary.

Did you completely miss Brads post like 2 above?

Plus not everyone has a PS3 that views this section, so your comment is the one that's unnecessary :p

Fine I'll do that going forward [show 1 or 2, link to the rest], didn't realize how many I had actually hotlinked till I had posted.

However until release if any new images crop up I'll carry on posting them, it is far from useless.

The paper craft things are awesome!

I am at an impasse currently.

I want to buy the new Castlevania game for DS, and using my Game points I can get it down to ?13, but I was going to go in and get Killzone 2 on the day from Game since I know I could get it on the day, but that would only take Killzone 2 down to something like ?27 from ?39.99.

Though I could get Killzone 2 on-line for like ?30 I think it was posted, but then I might not get it on the day as it is via mail and also its a bit late ordering it generally before a big game release.

*sighs*

Shop-To will get it to you most likely a day or two before release, and in regards to pre-ordering now

PS - However, The Boss did update us on the Killzone 2 situation fairly recently, and stock was ok at that time, and usually if preorders are still able to be placed, ShopTo are expecting enough stock to cover their demands.

ps. Munky the new "Chad Warden" has part 2 up - [url=

So much for pre-ordering form shopto

Stock: We have temporarily stopped taking pre orders due to high demand. If you have Pre-Ordered we will dispatch your copy as soon as we receive the product.

Hopefully they will get some more in on time.

Damn that's just changed recently. Dunno if I've seen a Shop-To pre-order go down before :p

LE Box is still up for Pre-order but it's more expensive - http://www.shopto.net/PS3/GAMES/PS3KI00-Ki...%27s%20Box.html [?32.99]

Play are doing it for ?29.99 and you get the free theme as well - http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/4-/...-2/Product.html - Although you some times take a risk with Play delivery.

    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.

    • Not sure what country you’re in but in many countries you can absolutely jail the sellers behind businesses… in fact I’d say in most countries you can do that
    • I guess we are done since you refuse to read my comment you replied to or my other comment in another thread you were also a part of here.
