holy shat..

that was feking fast.

he should've ran full speed to set the highest record though..... he shouldn't of backed off near the end..

I don't dispute that he is the best right now... but not only him has set new records in recent years.

I was a big fan of Linford Christie and he is an all time great but to compare him with this guy when hes wearing modern footwear and gear its hard to say.

He definitely touched the wall first. That gif does a good job showing it.

Calvic glided in the end to touch the wall while Phelps took an extra 1/2 stroke which is how he managed to touch the wall much quicker. Had Calvic not glided, he would've won.

It was an amazing race.

Yeah that Gliding was a Major mistake.

That's the nature of sports, there is always somebody as good/better than you, you can't afford to make ANY mistakes.

WOW BeiJing really looks good!

Why the **** would NBC not show the mens 200m and 400m opening events live? I mean seriously, what the **** did they show for the last two hours? Their coverage is horrible, and if they stop showing USA basketball live, im petty much going to be done with these olympics.

Thats why I wish other non-cable stations could show the olympics with NBC and/or NBC can use the substations in digital TV and offer more. 3.1 for the main broadcast commentary stuff events that they do and 3.2-3.4 other events.

I cant wait for the 4x100m and my personal favorite 4x400m relays in track.

edit: Damn, Liu Xiang (China) is out of the 110m hurdles.

Actually im glad they dont use the sub channels, i wish they would stop using those things. They have like 4-5 different channels(NBC, CNBC, Universal, ect...) for this, using the sub channels would only degrade the picture quality of the HD channel. They have an HD version of all the channels they are using to broadcast on, but choose to show tapped events. During the primetime slot on a sunday, starting at 8 they could have show the event finals for gymnastics, and easily cut it into an hour since it was taped, and then took us to the LIVE track and field events such as the 200m and 400m, but noooo. They stretch out the taped events and stupid stories for like 4 hours. They have all these channels at their disposal, and choose to show tapped events.

NBC isn't showing track events live because they want the most viewers possible for it, which is in the primetime hours (late night, which is morning in China -- and most track finals are at night there).

It's bullcrap for the fans who want to see it live, but it's still smart business.

    • Along with that and very unfortunate for Linux, the AI boom/tariffs/global supply chain instability really destroyed any chances of it getting a decent chunk of market share. By all accounts, if a Steam Deck was still available for $399 (with tons of alternatives releasing at $500-$800 - instead of $1500+ now) and the Steam Machine was out there for $499, I think a lot of people WOULD have been willing to try SteamOS and switch away from Windows. But yeah, with the crazy jacked up prices now, people have to make safe bets with their money.
    • Neowin hasn't been covering the Ladybird browser but it has been posted about on a lot of tech and Linux/open source sites. I have been following the effort myself for almost a year now. Cloudflare and Proton are among their sponsors. You can read the why here--> https://ladybird.org/#about
    • That's really the user's problem, not the developers. It's not like the Windows 10 EOL was a surprise. Once a product goes out of support, you have to understand YOU are owning the risk of running it - the rest of the world will move on, maybe you'll be OK, maybe you'll be OK for a while, maybe you'll have an issue.... But you can't expect devs to write or certify software for dead operating systems.
    • Not mentioned in this blog post is that Linux has now dropped for 2 months in a row. At a hight of 5.33% in March, then 4.52% in April and now 3.99% in May. I suspect the end of Windows 10 got a bunch of people to try Linux, fueled by all the Microsoft hate, and rabid social media push of that....and now they are going back to Windows 11 because of the normal Linux issues. The vast majority of PC gamers want to use their computers to game and not trouble shoot why a game wont work, or half work.
    • do these change.org petitions ever do anything besides give people a place to complain?
