Emo and goth to be made illegal in Russia

@aubaine

With your definition of fascist, I fail to see how we who support this ban are fascist. Are we organizing “…mass movements that are concerned with notions of cultural decline or decadence..” (aubaine, post 153)? When have us neowinians hinted that we want “a millenarian national rebirth by exalting most commonly the nation state” (aubaine, post 153)? Did we say that we want to overthrow our current working democratic government, and establish a fascist state? Emo is not a race, but a youth movement, so we’re not trying to promote GENOCIDE on the youth, but we’re trying to stop the movement. A movement that might leave the world in a worst state then it is now.

We are not approving fascism as you stated in post 153. There is evidence which links teen suicides to their preference to music (second page @ http://www.chmeds.ac.nz/research/suicide/m...aug_2006_2.pdf). “Russia is facing a demographic crisis unprecedented in peacetime” (BBC News, http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/1098812.stm). With the short life span around 59 years, there will be a shortage of workers to keep the economy going for Russia. It would be furthermore devastating if the suicide rate among teenagers increases it’s already 30 per 100000. If the Russian government doesn’t do anything to stop this population crisis, Russia will collapse in a few decades. This will then lead to a repeat of history. Discontent with the economy due to the government failing to do anything to stop the population decline will plant the seeds to the rise of communism and fascism again; a repeat of the Russian Revolution.

We support this law because we the see the looming future crisis, while all you care is let freedom ring free, and the possibility of the collapse of a Security Council member is an acceptable loss for freedom.

“Senator Joseph McCarthy's name has become a byword for the abuse of civil liberties and the malignant use of publicity to silence people of dissenting viewpoints” (PBS, http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/07132007...liberties.html). Does that sound like anybody in the neowinian community right now? Seems like aubaine is abusing his civil liberties, and accusing us of being fascists, just like McCarthy who accused those of being reds.

“This law would be a MAJOR infringement on human rights and the freedom of expression in one of the largest countries in the world. If all the people I quoted agree with it, then they are FASCISTS” (aubaine, post 140)

Our civil liberties, and rights have been infringed on many times throughout history by our democratic governments; such as the suspension of habeas corpus, and total war. The Japanese immigrants were racially profiled and condemned by DEMOCRATIC governments and society during the WWII. We gave up our civil liberties for the well being of our society, and trying to prevent our children from growing up under fascists, but instead a free and wonderful nation.

Banning emo music is such a small thing to give up compared to what our parents had to back then. If our democratic governments deem this necessary to ensure the future of our nation and provide sufficient evidence that there is no other way, I will backing them 101%.

“So what happens when your government tries to ban the way YOU dress and what music you listen to?” (aubaine, Post 142).

If the music I have been listening have been proven with hard evidence that it is causing me to become a psycho fascist, killer, suicidal, or burden to society, then yes I will gladly give it up without hesitation since it is a threat to the well being of everyone around me.

@aubaine - do you support the rights of those that oppose you on issues?

If you want everyone to think a certain way about an issue, frankly, that's no better than those who hold opinions opposed to you. Instead of becoming upset at goths/emos/whatever, you're getting upset at those who are getting upset at those types of people. Shouldn't they have the same right to express their opinion as you?

If not, then you are invalidating your argument.

Now I'm not saying that this particular incident is right - no matter how much I think the emo/goth look is weird or odd, I realize most of those kids have gone through hard times, and I feel sorry for them, if anything. Banning it is just stupid.

ATTENTION NEOWIN: The people quoted below are opposed to freedom of expression, and as such, have allied themselves with facism. Please keep this in mind when reading their other posts.

My first comment was not a serious one, which you would have realised had you read the entire thread BEFORE labeling me as a "facist" which I am NOT at all.

I hope you learn from your mistakes and keep your ignorant remarks to yourself in the future.

On a more serious note, I'd like to say that as a society we have to allow this kind of freedom. If we start banning things just because WE don't like them, then some day we will end up with a world where everyone looks the same, talks the same and thinks the same. And I'd rather have a few stupid emos and goths running around than to have that world.

However, I do strongly oppose the trends because they waste precious lives which could otherwise be used to make the world a better place, so I definitely think that something should be done to help these kids. IMO (not EMO :p ) these kids should be educated on the world, make them see that they truly are wasting their lives and that there are people out there who have lives that are 100X worse than what they could possibly imagine. If they don't react to that then well, there isn't much to do about them, we'll have to settle for beating them up whenever we meet them on the street (don't tell me I'm the only one who does that :p ).

Finally after years of democratic oppression, the government is doing something that will combat the new western standarts brought upon this suffering nation. Russia, in the past 20 years, has lost the image of the Man, as someone who builds a nation. Now the beautiful Russian girls just have to move their asse's in an American fashion to get the guys to run around them.

Traditionally Russia is about the Man, and the woman follows. By banning this, at least a part of that western cult will be abolished from mainstream society. I think the Russian government should consider banning such things as MTV too. Promote more "Ruscism" instead of Americanism so there will be hope for the future of Wei?> mankind.

Wow, talk about crazy. So you think by banning this it's going to disappear? I guess you have much to learn. These days you can't force people to do anything, eventually they will get what they want.

Also, what's so great about "ruscism" anyway? It's not like Russia is a communist or even a socialist state anymore.

And I can't even think of how I should respond to your male chauvinism, it's just that crazy.

You disgust me to the extreme.

You're taking a freedom the "good old Russia" and actually today's, too wouldn't give you.

You're taking the right to say what you think when it's opposed to a majority of a community, here an online community, so in your own believes and your own spirit, please stop spreading such facism BS.

Thank you.

Only take what you would give!

wow:no::

I read about this on another forum I visit. I am glad to see the the Governement is doing what's best for a majority of the Working Class, Tax Paying, Home Owning individuals.

Emo's are Kids, work in dead-end jobs, have their parents supporting them, have no cares in the world (If they did, they would be too busy to put on make up and grease/polish their Eye Cover (Flap of hair that hangs over one (or both) of their eyes)). They are not what supports the nation. If the people that do support the nation, financially and the such have a problem with it... All the power to them.

As stated, if Emo kids where that focussed, and hell-bent on being emo, they will still practice "Emo-ism" and a slap on the wrist won't stop them. They don't need people to fight for them stating:

"Oh Emm Gee you is stopping emo's! That is teh bad! You is teh breaking human rights! NAZI!!!"

They can fight for themselves. There is no need to go quoting people and saying they are against human rights, there is no need to go off topic saying they should ban this, that, and everything in the middle. Statements like those bring you down to the level you feel that the force behind this is at.

I can't help but almost agree with you. Because yes people need to grow up when they hit a certain age around 19 to 20 because staying in your little cliques is NOT an option if you want to have any sort of life i mean crying out loud when you're 20 you're an adult you're meant to think more about things than yourself like (if you're with someone) how will you provide for them and keep them happy and what of your own life you're not going to get many jobs dressed like that. But i disagree on an outright banning of it because when you're 10 to 18 you need some time to experiment with new things that the advantage of being a young dumb kid you get to make mistakes but you have to learn from them too. but i think this action can be summed up with one phrase....

&quotThe road to Hell is paved with good intentions>"

Apparently there's too much cutting and not enough vodka drinking among Russia's teens.

Funniest comment ever

However as to the law thing, I can sort of understnd why Russia is trying to ban the emo scene.

They see the "culture" and music of it to be causing a high-risk for teenage suicide, as such they are just trying to protect the children.

I just can't be doing with the whole girly-boy emo thing

It seems bloody daft to me and suicide is a cowards choice, stop moping, whinging and whining and grow a pair of balls, there are plenty of people that have worse lives than you emo-kids so grow up...

As for goths, well they just seem to keep to themselves round where I live and remind me of a bizarre halloween mix between clowns and mimes :p

    • NVIDIA announces 35 new AI HPC supercomputers across Europe by Fiza Ali NVIDIA has announced that 35 AI high-performance computing (HPC) supercomputers are planned to open throughout Europe this year. This marks what the company describes as the largest single-year expansion of AI infrastructure in the history of the continent. These new systems, unveiled at ISC High Performance 2026, will be placed at a number of national supercomputing centres, AI factories, and research institutes to provide advanced computing resources to more than three million researchers. Describing AI, NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang stated, "AI is the new instrument of science, and Europe is building the infrastructure to put it in the hands of millions of researchers." Built on NVIDIA's Blackwell and Hopper architectures, the new systems will support research in climate science, healthcare, clean energy, quantum computing, and other scientific fields. Among the major projects are the Barcelona Supercomputing Center's MareNostrum 5 AI upgrade, BavariaAI's Blue Swan platform in Germany, Italy's IT4LIA AI factory, Germany's HammerHAI project, and Sweden's Mimer AI Factory. The Barcelona Supercomputing Center plans to expand MareNostrum 5 with NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 and GB200 NVL4 systems. In total, the BSC expects to deliver up to 20 exaflops of AI training performance and 33 exaflops of AI inference performance. This increased computational capability will support research efforts related to climate modelling, biotechnology, energy systems, etc. Furthermore, as part of the IT4LIA project, more than 8,000 GPUs, each based on NVIDIA’s GB200 NVL4 architecture, will be used in Italy. This represents one of the largest AI factory initiatives announced to date. Additionally, the Blue Swan platform from BavariaAI will include about 1,000 GPUs to help develop multimodal AI models for use in the medical field, robotics, and various areas of scientific research. NVIDIA also emphasized in the announcement how rapidly growth of accelerated computing usage is taking place within both energy and climate-related research. The company said Siemens Energy uses NVIDIA-powered technologies to significantly accelerate the process of designing and simulating hydrogen-capable gas turbines. Using those same acceleration technologies, Siemens was able to reduce simulation time by up to 77 percent. The company also highlighted several quantum computing initiatives across Europe. CINECA, EuroHPC, and Pasqal are integrating a quantum processing unit into Italy's CINECA supercomputing centre using NVIDIA's CUDA-Q platform. Meanwhile, researchers at Germany's Julich Supercomputing Centre recently simulated a universal 50-qubit quantum computer on the JUPITER supercomputer. The announcement demonstrates Europe's continued commitment to building out its infrastructure supporting AI and supercomputing as governments, research organizations, and technology companies compete to build out their respective computing capacities and secure their positions in advanced scientific research.
    • It's about to become harder to turn off your Samsung TV, thanks to Instagram by Aditya Tiwari Meta announced that its Instagram for TV app has arrived on Samsung TVs in the US as part of its latest expansion, giving users one more way to scroll through Reels. The social media giant often comes under scrutiny for the "addictiveness" of its features, which leads people to spend excessive time on the platform. Interestingly, Instagram boss Adam Mosseri described spending 16 hours on the platform as "problematic use" but not "clinical addiction." Mosseri also compared scrolling on Instagram to binge-watching a show on Netflix. Instagram for TV is now available on Samsung TV models released in 2020 or later. The app is already available on Amazon Fire TV and Google TV in the US, which together account for the majority of connected TV devices. The company said it will test several new features to improve the living room and family experience while using Instagram on the big screen. Watching vertical videos on a big screen isn't something many would be excited about. Probably that's why Meta is testing a dedicated home for horizontal videos. Creators will get the opportunity to design content for TV screens and get more ways to reach audiences, according to Meta. If you found an interesting Reel while doomscrolling on your phone, you'll be able to cast it to your TV. The feature is available for testing on Instagram for TV on Google TV and Amazon Fire TV, and it will also support videos from the Saved tab. Instagram for TV will be testing Channels organized around user interests, across genres such as comedy and sports, as well as content from favorite creators. Moreover, you can watch Stories on your TV. While Instagram is known for short-form videos, it's knocking on more doors to keep the audience hooked. The company said it's exploring new content formats for the big screen, including long-form creator content to cover topics in detail, episodic series to build suspense across multiple episodes, and creator live sessions on TV. All of the new updates put Instagram in competition with established giants like YouTube (and Netflix), which already have a robust presence on the big screen. In recent updates, Instagram added the ability to write an individual caption for each carousel image, manually re-order posts, and a paid version of the app.
    • I know RAM and storage prices are high right now, but I think it would have been better to have 1TB as the base level storage, especially as it's supposed to be for gaming. Plus a 2.5gbe ethernet port rather than only 1gbe.
