Lost - Season 5

Could the bomb be linked to previous ep where they were digging a tunnel and were told to stop or else they'd all die ?

I doubt it. It looks ancient and was most likely built a long time ago by the people who built the statue, which is now the four toed statue.

From Lostpeida,

"Behind the concrete wall of the Vault is a tunnel, similar in design to Ben's secret door. At the end of the tunnel is a ladder leading down a hole covered by ice, and at the bottom is a small ice cavern with hieroglyphs carved into several surfaces, a small lantern, and a large wheel embedded into a rock wall and encased in ice. The wheel apparently is the device which moves the island through space and/or time, and is apparently related to a massive electromagnetic discharge, as it sets off a reaction similar to the failsafe key in the Swan station. "

On another note, I think Matthew Abaddon works for Widmore. It is still unclear about his role with the Island but with the last episode, it might make sense now.

Charles Widmore knows about John Locke, Daniel Faraday, Miles Straume and Charlotte Lewis. Hence, Widmore put Abaddon in charge of getting those four to the Island so history doesn't change. Adaddon was responsible for getting Locke on the walkabout which ended up him getting on 815 and he was responsible for organizing the science team with Naomi leading the science group.

Power source for the frozen donkey wheel?

I'm thinking that it may become a factor in a later episode when everyone is on the island, or perhaps it's through the use of the bomb that the island could somehow stabilize itself through time. Admittedly that doesn't seem like a good direction though.

Power source for the whole island. You know, the whole 'where is all this power coming from?' thing.

If it was an atomic bomb it would be a little more plausible, even though converting weaponized uranium to be used for power is not realistic. But its more realistic than using a hydrogen bomb for power.

Doesn't seem likely to me. A hydrogen bomb powering an entire Island to disappear?? No way. Even if the bomb wear to explode, the Island would still be there. The surface would be destroyed and radiation would sit for ages. But a hydrogen bomb powering an entire Island to disappear? LOL.

I think a deeper energy source lies underneath the Island, giving it the ability to cloak the entire Island and be able to move through time.

Plus, the simple fact that the wheel was there before 1954 proves its not the H-bomb.

Sorry, H-bomb powering the time-jump just doesn't cut it. From 1954 to 1970s - the others were able to learn time travel and construct a wheel to move the Island? When they were so afraid of moving the H-bomb in last episode...

Technically, we don't know that, but I'm heavily inclined to agree (the wheel was found in the 70s by Dharma, we haven't seen it in any earlier point in time).

I don't think it powers the wheel. But like I said if it was an a-bomb they could make an argument for it powering some of the Dharma stations.

Lost Vodcast

Some Tidbits from a commenter...

Summary:

a) Juliet tells us how she learned Latin for the episode "Jughead"

b) Purge is going up again in Season 5. Dharma did recruit Kelvin after the purge (1990's)

Was talking to mate about the last episode and he brought up a very good point.

What i dont understand is how the others were overpowered by dharma when they first arrived. Remember in Bens flashback to his childhood, alpert looks very rough, so it would suggest the otehrs have been prety much beaten.

If the British team + Richard were equipped with guns etc, wonder how Dharma over powered them? And why didn't Jacob see it coming or try to stop it?

If the British team + Richard were equipped with guns etc, wonder how Dharma over powered them? And why didn't Jacob see it coming or try to stop it?

The Others were most likely overpowered by the sheer number of Dharma people entering the Island. Dharma built so many stations and some huge fence around the village - so they had to have had a strong work force on the Island. Hell, they built a station underwater, The Tempest.

  • Station 2: The Arrow
  • Station 3: The Swan
  • Station 4: The Flame
  • Station 5: The Pearl
  • Station 6: The Orchid
  • Station ?: The Hydra
  • Station ?: The Staff
  • Station ?: The Looking Glass
  • Station ?: The Tempest

I don't think Jacob is a fortune teller, just someone that makes the important choices.

That's something to chew on a bit. When we first saw the Others, they were rough looking, but that was a hoax because they lived quite comfortably. But then, were the homes they lived in built by Dharma and not by the Others? I'm inclined to say yes because of the fence, so then, where did they stay before that? In 1954, they were living in tents, but Richard was wearing nice clothes, highly unlikely from the military people, and I also don't believe that all of the Others were there at that camp, but instead they were scattered about, most probably in the temple or other safe areas. Then there's their ability to get on and off the island at will. Again, this is likely without any influence from US military and Dharma. So were they really beaten back? I don't think so. I think Richard and crew were wearing the rough stuff as a disguise for when Dharma would encounter them because they were natives of the island, natives that they would believe to be without any means of transportation or technology on an island that is difficult to find. It begs the question though, how did the US military know about the island, and how did they get there? Argggg! I love this show :D

The fence isn't the only evidence. Just think back before the purge, Dharma lived there and built that entire area. In 1954, the Others main weapons were bows & arrows, so they had to have lived in a tribal lifestyle. We know this from what young Widmore said, "you think they know the Island better than I do?" Which can be inferred as living all over the Island.

I agree with your other points, Richard getting on and off the Island during 1954 to 1970s seems to be a mystery. We know for a fact he left the Island in 1956 to meet John Locke.

Does this seem like an older or younger Richard? I'm trying to figure out when he could have possibly gone back or even if he did ever time travel.

Maybe Richard just doesn't age. :/ That would make everything easier.

Maybe Richard ain't human at all. Just some sort of sophisticated AI robot. Remember what he told Dan : "I was forced to kill them all". And his answer about following a chain of command when Dan asked : "forced?!".

That's getting a bit far but I can see what your saying, but I bet he knows how powerful Jacob is and what happens if he doesn't listen to him, so he is forced to do it.

I heard a theory Matthew Abaddon = WALT!!!

Doubtful. We haven't seen anything even slightly hinting towards that. And even though we've seen time travel, we haven't seen anyone really 'go' to a different time. For Walt to be Abaddon, he would have to age, grow up, get back to the island, and then time travel back to 2007. Really, 2003ish so he can meet Locke in a wheelchair. (Though, did Abaddon call him 'Mr Locke', as Walt always did, or 'John'?)

    • DriversCloud 12.1.6 by Razvan Serea With DriversCloud (formerly My-Config.com), you can explore your computer easily, safely and free. The application quickly scans your PC and identifies the hardware and software components. DriversCloud then establishes a list of the different drivers compatible with your OS and hardware. Download the drivers needed for the proper functioning of your computer. To detect your drivers, DriversCloud also displays a detailed summary of your hardware and software configuration, analyzes your BSOD, monitors in real-time your PC voltages and temperatures and lets you share your configuration online. Once the hardware components have been detected, you will be able to obtain with just a few clicks the latest drivers corresponding to the identified hardware. You can record your configuration on the site for free, and can get the corresponding URL to post the configuration to technical forums, e-mail and social networks. You can also download the detection result (the configuration) as a PDF file. To protect the user's privacy and data confidentiality, a 4-level confidentiality system was created that filters the XML marks and gives control to the user. The default level can be modified in the preferences. Using the maximum level will prevent the user from publishing his configuration and generating a corresponding PDF file. In non-connected mode, each XML configuration is stored on the server for one day (for practical reasons). However, you are given the opportunity to manually delete it. Created in 2004, and continually improved, My-Config.com has established itself on the web as a free service to PC users running Windows and Linux operating systems. The service is designed to work with the most common Internet browsers (Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari).
