  1. 1. Who should lead on Destiny?

oh and thank the writers the senator guy went and died, I wouldn't have been able to stand a show with him in it(the actor, and the character he plays wich is identical to every other role he has ever played).

Rodney McKay was one of the best characters.

He was okay, just a little too obnoxious at times.

So uhm, why didn't they just tape a pen to one of the flying balls and push the button with that? Or a really big stick? Of all the ways they could have gotten rid of the senator..

I didn't even think of that. You should change your name to Macgyver. :p

That is what my girlfriend said when watching it, I told her, and assumed, that since it was designed by the Ancients that did Atlantis, maybe it carried the touch screen type interface that the puddlejumpers had.

The ancients seem fairly inconsistent in their human interface designs.

from the puddlejumper touch screens to the push down crystals of the Atlantis HQ. You'd almost think the artists all thoguh up a bunch of different cool interfaces and couldn't decide wich ones to use so they used all of them...

As for the actualy balls, it might have been a writer error and they originally weren't going to find them untill after, but stuff got reshuffled to make the episode more exciting and faster(wow, must have been real slow originally then).

or it's a simple fact that they can't move vertically, we never actually saw them move anything but laterally

Dont you guys think that they could have used the remote controlled flying cameras to press the switch and close the doors of the shuttle? So many geniuses on that ship and no one thought of that? Looks a bit silly to me but what the hack they got rid of that annoying guy...

I thought thats what happened. Life support turned on for them but it didn't work right because the oxygen thingies were all gunked up from not being used.

I liked these first episodes... the show has promise.

Well, if that was the case, the resources used for cleaning CO2 wouldn't be depleted.

Well, there is no Rodney McKay in this team. Maybe, that's the reason. Yes, he was annoying. But it was ok.

Now, we are only left with a socially inadequate scientist. And an annoying dude who thinks he is a genius but can not come up with a clever idea to help. They really need to work on the characters.

Well, if that was the case, the resources used for cleaning CO2 wouldn't be depleted.

I don't think that part was entirely unreasonable. Even without a crew, the ship would likely maintain some sort of atmosphere. Leave it long enough and it would eventually run out.

The ship has battle damage so someone must have been on the ship before to leave it that way. The condition of the ship is prob. why they abandoned it.

I was thinking that, but it could just have been automated defenses (assuming it wasn't just accidental damage from floating around in space for so long). There didn't appear to be any traces of anyone having been there, and it hadn't been raided either.

And we're not? This ship is clearly a very very very early ship design and primitive in terms to their more recent Atlantis. This was clearly developed before Atlantis was even conceived. Its like us. Our interfaces have changed greatly from push nobs and dials, to Computer touch screens. It makes sense that their technology and interfaces are different in atlantis.

I just watched the premiere again for the second time, got much more detail this time around. This time around I noticed that when Dr.Rush used the communication stones they actually showed him in the body of the other doctor (forget his name). When I watched it the first time I thought they were just showing the past when they used it another time, so now it makes much more sense that Dr.Rush was not lying about contacting earth.

I have also been going through many of the topics over at http://forum.gateworld.net/forumdisplay.php?f=128 and man do they go into some major detail in some of the topics, those guys are very smart and get very technical, for most of it, it's over the top and not needed because it's just a show, but it's awesome to see people doing that. If you want to learn a crap load about this kind of science and the show make sure to check those forums out.

I can't wait for the next episode, the Stargate series is in my top 5 shows of all time, so it's been a good start to the third :) Details people have been complaining about, the FLT drive and not a hyper drive, no time dilation effects using the stones, why the ship is old and not look like atlantis, and a few other details, I think don't really matter, I think most of the things that happened to ask those questions are able to be answered in another episode, I thought they did a very good job with that. I think the creators can please even the more insane fans of sci-fi with this show.

They should never have killed off the asgard!

Yes, that was really retarded :pinch:

But they later realised their mistake and pulled some other Asgard out of their hat in Atlantis: They'd supposedly lived on some poisonous planet, which just now had become uninhabitable, and now they're back.

Just finished watching it. I really liked what they did with this series. Definitely interesting to see where they go with the show. :)

The new faces will need some getting used to, but otherwise not bad so far.

The pilot moved way too slowly....didn't really like all the switching between the flash backs and the present. That used up most of the pilots time, nothing much happened, they gate to ship, start to moan at each other, life support starts to fail, they find a planet, end.

Same here, didn't really like the flash backs and switching either. They totally overused that :pinch:

I would've preferred more plot development as well.

Rodney McKay was one of the best characters.

Absolutely!

You might even scratch the "one of"

Yes, I found it very odd that the ship design is so different from what you see in Atlantis or other ancient tech :pinch:

They really messed up there. They probably designed the ship as something completely different first, and then only in the last minute decided to slap the "ancient" tag on it - that could be why it doesn't fit.

The main idea that people are agreeing on is that the Destiny is much much older then the ancient technology we have seen in SG1 & Atlantis, so like we has humans going from push buttons to touch screens, it's just a bit older, but still Ancient.

Your name is Lord Ba'al so I'm assuming you're a big fan of SG-1, just like I am. So I'll ask you this. You, and the others talking about this very point, realize this is an original stargate seeding ship right?

The ancients created the stargates a very, very long time ago and this ship was built to seed them unmanned throughout the universe. So of course it's old. The characters on SGU are talking about thousands, even hundreds of thousands, of years old but when you look at the timeline established in SG-1 and SGA you'll see that even Atlantis was used up until 10,000 years ago. So this ship is most likely freaking old. It put stargates on an untold number of planets far before the ancients had advanced to the point of flying cities, such as Atlantis, and ascension.

The ship was designed as is and has always been known to be an ancient ship. The creators/ producers have been saying that since the beginning. And of course another reason for the obvious design deviation is the fact that this is a new show. They wanted to create a separate world so the designers probably wanted something different and fresh but still grounded within the Stargate universe, no pun intended. :p

You should see the theories, about this and everything else, being post on Gateworld.net. All the hardcore Stargate fans are there and the depth at which they go into stuff is crazy. And I'm one of them.

Thanks for the recap of what I said lol Yea the guys on gateworld are insanely smart and detailed.

The ship can't be that old, considering the Gate design is sorta half way between SG-1 and Atlantis I would say that this ship was built as one of many that seeded the universe,

Most likely one of the last, near or after the time they left earth

Thanks for the recap of what I said lol

Really? I haven't been reading all the posts in this thread. I've been sticking to Gateworld since it's a Stargate centered community. ;)

Yea the guys on gateworld are insanely smart and detailed.

Definitely, but some of them just look for stuff to put a hole into. It's fun reading but sometimes you have to go, "Hey buddy, you realize this is still science fiction, right?"

The gate design shouldn't be what makes you think of the age of the ship. It could have been replaced after the ship was sent on its voyage or it could be a design the ancients stopped using or a design they used in specific places.

Not to mention the designers could have just taken the liberty to come up with something new without any regard to previous concepts.

The gate used on Destiny seems less advanced than the one on Atlantis, for starters it has moving parts.

Well I believe the original Stargate design was indeed the original Stargates. When they advanced even further, they built ships that would go to other Galaxies (Remember, we only partially seen Destiny's path so god knows how many other ships their are and what directions they are going in). I wonder if the Destiny will eventually catch up to the ship which is building the Stargates?

The ship has battle damage so someone must have been on the ship before to leave it that way. The condition of the ship is prob. why they abandoned it.

You need to re-watch the episode, it was said that they were the first people to come aboard the Destiny. The Ancients would one day return to the ship when they needed to, but obviously the Ancients suffered a plague and many ascended. Also, what's stopping them from running into another Asgard tribe?

    • Windoze 11 could finally go to hell, instead of making me savor yet another error I've never had. "Bad Pool Caller" or whatever TF cryptic crap0la message it is. Adding salt to injury, it says something along these lines (on the blank black screen after it hard stops): "Your windoze needs to restart. You can restart." NO WAY SHERLOCK. The PEECEE, look, it's *blocked*, I can do jack sh1t with it as it is and you say that it needs to restart? Further, that I can restart? What am I supposed to do, take a herbal bath? Sudo a sandwich? Timewaster pile of useless slop and errors, coded by monkeys and force-fed on us by a pedo-founded corporation, that's all there is to it. Now, let's have a fun weekend trying to handle the error, which after a quick internet check can basically be due to EVERYTHING, from memory faults to drivers to motherboard issues. Thanks M$.

It emphasizes privacy by blocking trackers, ads, and ensuring your data isn't collected. With Zen Mods, users can enhance their browser experience with various customization options, including features like split views and vertical tabs. The browser is designed for efficiency, providing fast browsing speeds and a lightweight interface. Zen Browser prioritizes user control over the browsing experience, offering a minimal yet powerful alternative to traditional web browsers while keeping your online activity private. Zen Browser’s DRM limitation Zen Browser currently lacks support for DRM-protected content, meaning streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are inaccessible. This is due to the absence of a Widevine license, which requires significant costs and is financially unfeasible for the developer. Additionally, applying for this license would require Zen to be part of a larger company, similar to Mozilla or Brave. Therefore, DRM-protected media won't be supported in Zen Browser for the foreseeable future.
