google mail absolutely flies now! I am really, really impressed with the UI in vista. Definatley looks better in windowed tho. Loving the application shortcuts idea - i now have a shortcut to google mail that will launch just like a stand alone program.

Thank you google.

Why is it running one process for the browser itself, then one for shockwave and then one for each tab.

Mine is currently running 5 processes with 3 tabs open.. I don't like that :(

I'm assuming you didn't read the comic..

Not good.

It feels like a Fisher Price product.

It's rendering slowly (false alarm was just Neowin lol), screen tearing all over the place (looks to be image heavy sites which tear...probably a smooth scroll issue as with IE/FF), extremely limited in terms of settings, it managed to import my search engines and bookmarks but totally lost all of my RSS feeds and I can't even find where to set the homepage. (not that their default one isn't interesting I'd just much rather use my own)

It really feels like I'm stuck in friggin baby mode or something.

On the good side: you can right click on the tab bar and see a task manager which seperates out tabs and even has nerd stats like mem usage (their words not mine), I love the status bar, and the new homepage is kinda growing on me although I'd still prefer my own. (it feels kinda like the bookmarks section of the Opera browser on the Wii)

Overall it's quite limited and I can't forsee it replacing Firefox without a lot of work put into it. Firefox with addons actually changes the way in which people experience the web and Chrome looks to be more of a Safari clone but even further simplified.

A solid effort that my grandma will like but not for a poweruser as of yet.

Looks nice. Options look a bit basic but the layout is neat and minimal. Nice subtle effects with smart fade-outs and the text in the menu and bookmarks bar is nice.

It also did a good job of importing passwords and bookmarks from FF3.01.

Hopefully the extended functionality from plugins will add to the Chrome experience and provide most customization options.

Where have you been though? Because Neowin is horribly slow. Try some other sites. Load times are ridiculously fast for me, just like with Webkit.

Also, you shouldn't have any Firefox type memory leak because of the multiprocess design.

yeah neowin is going pretty slow in ff for me.
