[Official] Halo 3: ODST

I'm glad it's physical and not digitally distributed. It's way nicer having the case and disc in your hands than a purchase that isn't tangible

I'm going to guess it's going to be both (for those who already own Halo 3), which is perfect (Y)

Have they talked about how much this will be? I just don't see how I am going to be able to play much of this with the 360's lineup this fall. Overload!

Fortunately for you, Fall 2009 is not coming this year. :p

I'm going to guess it's going to be both (for those who already own Halo 3), which is perfect (Y)

And so this will be a major release with the current H3 MP attached to it? I doubt Bungie would make it inefficient for you to switch discs to join a MP match unless its an entirely new MP experience.

Hope they use a new graphical engine.

I doubt they would as what you see in H3 is a refinement of what they were crafting back in H2. Its not a bad engine when you consider the big changes in H2 and H3 and how it scaled for HD graphics quite easily.

^ I'm pretty sure it's a standalone expansion pack. After all, it will be released as a game of its own (and not as downloadable content).

But dude he's wearing RECON ARMOUR!!!oneoneoneoen!!!hax1!1ksldlas

Looking forward to this :)

I don't know what the hell the soldier is wearing in the trailer, but it sure as hell isn't Recon.

And I have to say the score sounds incredible. Marty at his best.

According to this article, Bungie gave away Recon armour to two lucky individuals.

Found this via HBO. Luke posted on NeoGAF.

The word "stealth" here isn't really a great word. This isn't a stealth action game like a Splinter Cell game. This is a Bungie-made Halo game where you will play as an ODST, which of course, is different (and no, I'm not talking about how it's different ;b) than playing as a Spartan super soldier. This isn't Halo Cell, Ghost Recon: Halo, Republic Commandalo or whatever.

Edit: Forgot Call of Halo and Gears of Halo.

There's your problem -- you're getting all wrapped up in bogus rumors. Fail less! ;b

Brian and I have a bunch of interviews tomorrow with the good stewards of the worldwide media; so there should be some more information to be gleaned from those.

I think it might be just some random conglomeration of letters so as to appease those trying to find out about their projects early. But who knows, knowing Bungie, I wouldn't be surprised if it actually does stand for something. ;)

It's not random. If you know a bit of Bungie lore, they put these 'random' strings of letters on nearly all their products - if you have any of the games, CDs, books, etc, take a look around on the front/back covers and you'll find these. Many have been deciphered, and many have not, but Bungie only says anything about them when they're confirming the correct deciphering of one.

So yes, it stands for something, though not necessarily something related to this game in particular.

/edit - here's a list of all of the acronyms found (minus this new one): http://bs.bungie.org/2006/04/the_bungie_acro_1.html

Looks like only six are confirmed. Also, there's language in that link (as part of the acronyms) that's NSFW.

I'm still not sure this isn't going to be both a stand-alone game and a downloadable expansion, for whoever said it was standalone. I mean, we've still got tons of achievements in the Halo 3 update (a record 1750) that aren't being used ;)

According to Kotaku, this will not be a download, only retail:

So I guess the 1,750 points for Halo 3 are all for Halo 3... And this game gets 1,000 points of its own... strange. Guess it's like Crysis: Warhead.

Recon is Bungie's last Halo game, apparently.

    • I used a Pixel 10 Pro XL when it first came out for about 8 months. When I first got it, it was using Google assistant and that was fast, when asking it to call somone etc. Then it automatically switched with some update to Gemini. Doing even the simplist of things like asking it to call someone in my contacts was soooooo slow compared to Google assistant. I guess it had to go out to the cloud to do that? Back on iPhone and while Siri is dumb right now, it does do those simple things, like call someone, set a timer, star the stop watch etc, really fast. That an while I like Google Material Design 3 over iOS 26, they Pixel 10 Pro XL was so slow in comparison to the iPhone 17 Pro I am using.
    • I use Gemini in my rotation of AI clients...that work pays for. It is good at most things, better than copilot for imgage searching and making images, worse at writing vs Claude and way worse at hadling technical issues when it comes to Azure stuff. I also use YT premium and maps. Anything else Google is a pass for me. I have now seen multiple people locked out of their Google accounts for reasons that are just very vauge.
    • Microsoft is building an AI datacenter that "uses less water than a fast food restaurant" by Ivan Jenic Image: Microsoft Microsoft has announced plans to build a new datacenter campus in Pecos, Texas, as the company continues to invest billions in AI infrastructure. The new facility, called project Kilby, will reportedly have a capacity of 2 gigawatts and will be one of the largest single capacity additions in the company’s history. To power the campus, Microsoft signed a 20-year deal with Chevron to supply natural gas from the Permian Basin, America's largest oil field. This deal is set to become the largest collaboration to date between a U.S. oil and gas giant and Big Tech. It’s no secret that Big Tech has often been criticized for exploiting natural resources for its AI developments. Microsoft is trying to mitigate some of that negative consensus by promising to build its own power supply for the new datacenter, independent of the public grid. The Pecos datacenter will be powered by a power plant hub, built by Chevron, with up to 2.5 gigawatts of gas-fired capacity, with potential to scale to up to 5 gigawatts. The facility will include at least seven GE Vernova turbines, with first power potentially coming online as early as late 2027 or early 2028. The power plant hub is part of an approximately $7 billion investment by Chevron, making it one of the largest dedicated energy projects tied to a single datacenter campus in the U.S. Microsoft hasn’t publicly disclosed the amount it’s investing in the new datacenter. Microsoft has also committed to implementing a closed-loop cooling system that will only require an initial water charge to operate. The company said that “the total lifecycle water use of this datacenter is only a fraction of that consumed annually by a typical fast-food restaurant.” What the press release doesn’t mention, however, is how much water the natural gas plant itself will consume, or how a 20-year fossil fuel commitment squares with the company's pledge to be carbon negative by 2030. The construction of the new datacenter should provide over 6,000 construction jobs at peak build-out, and create hundreds of operational job roles once the facility is built. Via: Reuters
