I'm not all to fussed about the lack of a server browser right now, hosting my own server ingame with friends works perfectly.

They've really done well with the Source engine though, it was smooth throughout the many games i played while looking awesome (Particle and Shadowing systems especially). The only gripe i have so far is it looks like they still haven't fully worked out multithreading in the engine.

I don't think it fits on the PC, I'd like to see regular old servers browsers there but on the consoles it's perfect.

You don't have some 'favourite' maps which is constantly played because its on a set rotation. You don't have tons of random rules on each server which is beyond annoying, just some default standard rules all around. Matchmaking in other games has rarely to never put me in a laggy game, so I don't need to see pings really.

I love matchmaking, specially when it features a party system - Glad they are pushing it in most games (Y)

On the consoles valve set up tons of dedicated servers, but none for pc. What works for consoles does NOT work for pc, matchmaking does NOT work well for pc. There is very few dedicated servers

And even worse there is VERY low incentives to rent servers for this game it is incredibly difficult to join your own dedicated server and you have no control over it.

EVERY SINGE GAME the matchmaker has put me in is laggy and unplayable. I used the console to use the manual server browser, used some filters for servers in us with under 100 ping, clicked the first server and bam Nice smooth game. Not only is matchmaking not for pc valves implementation of it is very poor.

and this is coming from a huge valve fanboy.

I admit, most dedicated servers I join are laggy and unplayable. However, I click "OK" whenever I get the option to create a LAN server. I find that it doesn't lagg as much as a dedicated server.

It certainly does live up to the hype, I've played with lots of different people, and each time the game has behaved differently.

Playing on normal mode with a few guys, we had so many zombies thrown at us, we had all been knocked down twice and I was on 6 health and slowly dying, it was awesome.

Just an FYI, either Valve listened to the complaints and added it in the first of the two patches already released, or it was already in the game. Either way, there IS a server browser.

Open the console up, and type in "openserverbrowser" and it'll pop up. In order to see servers to connect to, use the CUSTOM TAB. Note, you cannot join empty servers, only servers with people in them and are already in a session/lobby.

Enjoy. :D

OK here is a nice little trick for anyone who wants to play early but not prepurchase.

1. Find someone with the game already prepurchased and validated.

2. Get them to go to <steam>\SteamApps\common\left 4 dead demo

3. Copy that folder into your respective steam folder

4. Enjoy the game

The only drawback to this method is you have to play single player. No connecting to other people or friends as Valve will reject the connection.

WTF this has no server browser?

DO NOT DO THAT VALVE (N)

Matchmaking only is for gimped console devs who are lazy (server browsers can be done on consoles, more devs need to do it), not the PC.

Can't wait to try this!

Agreed, totally unacceptable!

Only if implemented like in Halo3 - I still want a choice to decide which map too play tho

The lobby "owner" (for lack of a better term) controls what map, difficulty mode, etc. to play on.

And Matchmaking is still being refined, in the latest update you can force the matchmaking to pick a specific server and such (via console options, but expect that to change)

I have played a few matches and I didn't get lag in any of them.

With matchmaking you loose the "server community" thing, but this games isn't like the other valve games where you can play with woth another 23 people, just 3.

That makes this games perfectly suited to play it with your friends, and to make friends if everybody plays fine and behaves better.

I don't see a problem as long there are enough servers and the matchmaking puts me in a relatively lagless server (which has been the case for me)

As for the game I'm eager to play it in expert mode as the normal mode is normally easy, with some omghard spikes, which are really cool. Still, the demo is too short for me :(

    • Studio MDHR reveals Cuphead sequel and an 8-bit platformer spin-off by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Studio MDHR has been rather silent about its next major gaming project since the release of Cuphead back in 2017. However, that ended today during the Summer Game Fest presentation, with the studio revealing not one but two project announcements. First, the studio confirmed that it is currently in the middle of developing a brand-new Cuphead game, bringing back the iconic characters for another adventure. Just like the last game, this is slated to be a fully hand-animated endeavor. This also means there isn't a release date attached to it yet. “Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do here at Studio MDHR,” says co-founder Chad Moldenhauer. “When it came time to peel back the curtain and share a little bit about what we’ve been up to, we couldn’t imagine a more fun way to do so than with today’s Special Bulletin. The studio is working on this new Cuphead with help from Toronto’s Stop Motion Department and Continue Agency. At the same time, Studio MDHR also revealed that another part of the team has been working on a different Cuphead installment. Dubbed the Mighty Cuphead Adventure, this is taking a different art direction to the original. "In true Studio MDHR fashion, this game goes beyond just taking inspiration from the classics of the 1980s… it is actually built with technology of the era," the studio explained. "That's right: Mighty Cuphead Adventure is programmed in assembly language and designed with the exacting specifications of the Sega Master System home gaming console in mind." Aside from releasing on PC and modern consoles, Mighty Cuphead Adventure will even be playable on the 1985-released Sega Master System. A release date has not been announced just yet.
    • Any decent ITSM will A) have a web form that allows a user to raise a ticket, if you're writing an email you can write a ticket. B) Monitor a mailbox and auto-generate tickets based on inbound mails for those users that really can't get their heads around the concept that if you have an issue you go to support.mycompany.com and fill in the box. From your description you're having users email the desk, and then having a human read each one and manually raise a ticket on behalf of the user.

    • I've never even heard of this browser before seeing this article. How does it differ from other browsers?
    • Fixing things? Have you ever tried linux? Everything works out of the box nowadays in most common hardware. This includes Wifi and Bluetooth. If anything, if they return back to windows is because they haven't found an equivalent program which often used on windows.
