i lent it to him for a few hours while i was at work so he could finish up fable II he must have installed it on his first i droped it off and then left i went and picked it up after work and i booted it up to play nhl with my uncle and bam no access to live. i cant even use the thing it either needs access to live or needs to download something from live. cant stream videos because the thing needs to download something off live cant play nhl online needs access to live. im ****ed

Got home and installed it, looks nice and I'm already installing my favorite games.

Gonna have to play Gears2 offline until the 19th, then I can own some noobs online, along with some co-op.

The downside: can't play my arcade games and classics :( until then. Being offline sucks :(

has anyone tried installing orange box, considering that was one of the worst loading games ever... walk 3 steps, loading, turn, loading...

Talk about exaggerating. I played HL2 through on the Xbox and it wasn't even that bad (N)

What is it with people and spreading FUD around here

I have it on PS3 and its horrible for Portal. My friend has it on X360 and the loading times are the same - hopefully theyll fix this for him.

Every time you die, it has to load the level again - fine, but its horribly slow for the size of the levels. COD4 loads quicker and those levels are much bigger!

Hope this speeds it up a bit.

Trust me I know

Inital loading is to be expected, I never said they don't exist, but anytime during Portal did you walk 3 steps *load* turn a corner *load*? Nope, me neither..

Btw, when you die on the pc you have to load the level as well, granted it's not as long, it's still there though..

really? cause i thought orange box had the worst streaming enviroment ever on the 360. It made oblivion look like a masterpiece.as for exaggeration, yes i used it to make a point of emphasis .

FUD? Wasn't spreading fear, uncertainity or doubt.

Well you're definitely the first I have heard complain of streaming issues, I don't even remember reviews mentioning it and I certainly didn't see it. If anything there was minor complaints of frame rate (more so on the PS3 version). They did an awesome job of the 360 though running at 1080p no less

For example Gamespot's review:

With The Orange Box out on both the PC and the Xbox 360, it's worth noting that there are a handful of differences between them, but it's hard to go wrong with either version. For starters, the PC version is $10 cheaper and, provided that you have modern hardware, it also looks better than the Xbox 360 version. The 360 version doesn't run as smoothly, though its frame rate is hardly a problem, either. Furthermore, the textures used throughout Half-Life 2 simply don't look as good in 2007 as they did in 2004. Consequently, viewing them on a large HDTV doesn't really do them any favors, though the 360 version utilizes high dynamic range lighting that gives you more realistic-looking effects than Half-Life 2 had on the PC at its time of release.

edit: just got this from MN's Twitter..

majornelson A little reminder: If you get your hands on NXE and you are NOT in the Preview Program. You won't be allowed on LIVE. 2 minutes ago from mobile web

Oh how I'll laugh if you're all banned

Don't think that'll happen. Like I said, MN first mentioned it as a warning not to take your HDD to someone else's box b/c you'll force the update to their box and screw them out of live. I don't think they'd ban anyone for having it early.

Oh I know, I just think it would be funny if it were the case :p

I believe it's because the leak is tied to someones Console ID and therefore won't allow other Xboxes to go online with that ID.

Just what I heard though.

Of course that is exactly the way this update works for those who got selected.

Our Console IDs & Gamer Tags were taken in the preview signups , so XBL will allow only the selected few consoles which match the console IDs & Gamer Tags in their database.
