GTA IV for PC (official)

Recommended Posts

Well guys some more updates:

---It appears that due to the terrorist attack in Mumbai the release of GTA 4 in India has been put on hold indefinitely :-

"Originally set to release along with the European launch on December 3rd for an insanely low price point of INR 499, or approximately US $10, the game?s launch in India is being pushed back an unspecified number of days, as the official Rockstar / 2K distributor in the country, e-Xpress Interactive feels that it would be insensitive (not to mention, asking for trouble) if the game is put on shelves less than a week after what is one of the worst terrorist incidents India has ever seen."

---Little extras for the Polish GTA 4 PC version:
It appears the Polish Game will released on 3rd December, the same day as Europe release. GTA IV PC will be full English release with Polish box, manual and some extra stuff:

The Polish version will include :-

  • Polish version of "Voice of Liberty City"- a guide that takes you around the most interesting places in the city of anarchy;

  • Detailed map of Liberty City, with Polish descriptions of all the districts;

That looks like crap :/

I hope you can turn whatever's causing that off.

All the Xbox screenshots had that filter thing on them, it really doesn't look like that when playing.

Are those screenshots at all settings maxed? Because if they are, this game looks mediocre.

Don't judge entirely by stills, you really have to see the game motion, which I think goes for any game.

And I still find GTA4 particularly impressive, with all the detail and great artstyle it looks great!

Dunno if this has been posted or not.

GTA IV On PC TO Use SecuROM

I'll say this for Rockstar - they do like a controversy. Usually, though, they go in for cool controversies like sexy mini games or the sensationalised depiction of car crime and bullying.

Lame kerfuffles about copy protection schemes just seem a bit off-message, somehow. C'mon chaps, you'll not get many tabloid headlines with this nonsense! Get back to the prostitute murder and leave the customer-punishing DRM nonsense to your competitors.

Yes, another high profile PC release - GTA IV this time - will be shipping with SecuROM. The usual arguments are being trotted out - on the one hand it is the publisher's best defence against piracy (the copyright infringement kind, not the Somali kidnappy variety) while on the other it is a horrible mess of code that will taint the PCs of legitimate consumers like digital scar tissue.

C'est la vie.

Dunno if this has been posted or not.

SecureROM isn't necessarily terrible, but it depends on how it's implemented. Is it just going to check for the game disc, like Fallout 3? Or will it be used to limit the number of installs, like Mass Effect?

Custom PC also has an article about GTA IV using SecuROM.

Also, in answer to anyone who says they?re going to download a cracked version of the game, Rockstar points out that ?aside from the fact that warez are a great place to pick up a Trojan or key logger, using a cracked copy of GTA IV PC will result in varying changes to the game experience. These can range from comical to game-progress-halting changes.?

I guess we'll soon after the release see who here has a legit version of the game and who doesn't.

Man just 3 days left to PC release.. can hardly wait to get my hands on this :p :p :p

Oh and I think the requirements are just so the game looks really hot.. but according to Gamespot.com

At first glance, the game looks brighter, sharper, and more vibrant, with the development team looking to take advantage of the increased flexibility presented by the PC platform. The aim is to ensure that the game not only looks good on top-end hardware--at a maximum resolution of 2560x1600 pixels--but also runs perfectly well on three-year-old machines, according to the Rockstar staffer taking us through the demo.

:)

Well for me all the anti-consumer crap and using 2 different online services for simple things really annoy me, I've got to weigh the benefits and disadvantages more now.

Yeah... I was already on the fence about buying the game. If the DRM is going to be annoying I'll skip it.

Wow. I've had my pre-order in for almost 3 weeks now, I'll have to honestly think about canceling my order now. You would of thought they would of learned by now.

Games I canceled my pre orders for due to DRM:

-Spore

-Crysis Warhead

Next to be GTA 4?

Why can't they just use something CoH uses and make users create an account. Tie their CD key to that account, and they login everytime they play the game. If you don't have an internet connection you use the CD to access the game.

    • What they really need to do is automatically spell "loses" and "lose" correctly since nobody seems to know how to anymore. Then they blame spellcheck/autocomplete and don't realize autocomplete is just filling in the word for them automatically so it was misspelled in the first place.
    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
