GTA IV for PC (official)

^Why do you give up on a game with DRM? What's wrong with it in the first place.

It's mainly the principal of it, although some DRM breaks the system on purpose.

Basically, DRM is designed to lock the paying user out of doing things and is designed as if they're criminals, pirates don't suffer from DRM, only paying customers do.

While I agree with that, if you buy a DRM game, there are... ahem... ways around "keeping" the DRM on the game.

Hello again, a site called GTAlegende.com has leaked pictures of the packaging and also the read me file. Here they are:

And finally the Read Me file link:

GTA IV PC also requires a number of software installations, including Games For Windows, Adobe Flash, Internet Explorer, SecuROM and our Rockstar Games Social Club application." The conversation elaborates on the whole activation deal: "GTA IV PC uses SecuROM for protecting our EXE until street date has passed, to ensure the retail disk is in the computer drive, and is used for Product Activation of the title. Product Activation is a one time only online authentication when installing the game. GTA IV has no install limits for the retail disc version of the game, and that version can be installed on an unlimited number of PCs by the retail disk owner.

Did you guys notice the Read Me File? Quite a number of cards show some uncommon glitches. Hope they follow it up with some patches or something.

According to the readme, for me there's going to be only one minor problem (own a 4870).

ATI:

General:

A slightly visible diagonal line appears across the screen.

But I'm sure it's going to be barely visible and not on all resolutions.

What I hate about DRM is that you need to insert a disk when you want you play..

For me this is a bad thing coz..

1) It damages the disc... I still have my original CnC disks.. I like keep discs clean and unscratched

2) I don't like to open the drive everytime I want to start playing

3) There are like 4-5 games on my system at any time and I hate inserting a disc to play everytime.. so I get a no-DVD exe (I don't play online)

4) The kind of protection they are talking abt sounds confusing.. I'm not sure if a no-DVD exe will be available for this :(

I'll buy this game.. for sure.. I love GTA.. but its disgusting coz ppl who use torrents or warez will still get it and play it the way they like (I'm sure they'l figure out a way around the DRM) and if I'll have to buy it with this stupid protection, risk scratching my DVDs and wait for the street date to pass till I can get a no-DVD file

The only reason I'm going to a buy a copy, is to support the developer. The moment I get the game installed, I'm downloading a nodvd crack (there's going to be one, no matter how tough the protection) and forgetting about the stupid DRM (and the bugs in game because of it) bull****.

    • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, Z Fold Wide: Everything you need to know The ONLY thing I need to know is the price, which I know will be way higher than I (and most people) are willing to pay for a phone... so basically nothing here I need to know. PS: Nice job getting that Apple reference to a non-existent and unrevealed product as "competition" in there. Cheque is in the mail.
