PlayStation Home v1.3 Coming Thursday + New Central Plaza, Neptune Suite and More!

We know that all of our Home-peoples have been waiting with bated breath for the newest version of PlayStation Home to launch. You?ve been messaging us on the official PlayStation Home forums and hitting us up in-world for all of the details. You?ve been leaving us comments on our Blog posts and on the official PlayStation Facebook and Twitter accounts. Some of you have even been chartering black helicopters and following us to and from our secret meetings, surveilling our every move, searching for evidence of the launch date. Well okay, maybe there hasn?t been so much of that, but you?ve been eager for info. And that?s why we?re all pumped to announce that PlayStation Home v1.3 will be coming to your PlayStation 3s this Thursday, October 1st.

For those of you who didn?t catch the official announcement of the client update in August, here?s the high-level overview. Home v1.3 equals the folUniversal Game Launching.e Launching. Come this Thursday, you?ll be able to launch from Home into any game whose disc you have loaded into your PS3. This is how it works: Titles that fully support game launching (like Street Fighter IV, Resistance 2, MotorStorm, and Far Cry 2) will be identified by separate icons that appear over an avatar?s head and will have varying degrees of additional multiplayer functionality built in. Simplified game launching will take you from Home to the start menu of your favorite games with ease. Never again will you have to sign out of Home to play with (or against) your friends. Simply insert the disc of your choice while in Home and follow the on In-Store Item Previewing.Item Previewing. This feature will allow you to preview items of clothing on your character in 3D (including the ability to check out multiple items simultaneously to see what combinations best suit your taste). You?ll be able to preview all furniture in 3D as well, complete with zoom and rotate options so you can check your potential purchaNew Emotes and Actions.motes and Actions. You can flip a coin with your friends to decide whose apartment to retreat to, or play the old ?pick a number between 1 and 100? game to decide who is hosting the next party in Central Plaza. You will also be able to pose your avatar in a variety of ways, adding significantly to your ability to express yourself in-world. Heck, there are even new dances to hit More Item Types..

More Item Types. Including limited use items (like the brand new Shrink Cake that lets you shrink your avatar to a tiny size) and portable objects (think: Bubble Machine). These will be available shortly after the launch of the client. This list of objects includes a free camera that you can use to snap pictures from either a 1st or 3rd person view. The photos will automatically be saved to the Photo section of the XMB, from which you can then upload to the picture frames you have hanging in your personal spaces. Dates for the camera and other items will be announced very soon, so stay tuned to this blog (and be sure to check the Latest Updates tab in your MenTons of Improvements.>Tons of Improvements. We?ve added some new categories of clothing (composite and outfits) that will allow you to customize your avatar with greater ease. We?ve optimized the targeting system. We?ve fixed a bunch of the bugs you?ve been reporting on the official Home Support forum. We?re even giving you the option to determine your cache size (you can choose from 3, 5, 8, and 12 GB).

Going hand in hand with the v1.3 launch, we here at SCEA will be releasing an updated Central Plaza. We think you?ll find the new World Map Travel Center to be quite handy when it comes to navigating the vast, expansive world of PlayStation Home. This easy-to-use tool will be located right next to the new and improved Listen@Home kiosk, where you can listen to music and participate in community music events. On top of all this, we?ve added leaderboards and rewards to the ever-popular Saucer Pop mini-game and even placed a kiosk in Central Plaza from which you can grab prizes associated with events and a host of other items and content available from the PlayStation Network (in fact, if you check out this kiosk on launch day, you may just find some free items waiting for you). Watch the video below for a sneak peek of some of the new additions to CP.

We probably could?ve stopped there, but we wanted to get as much content to you to celebrate this momentous occasion as we possibly could. If you peep the video below you can get a first look at the new Neptune Suite personal space, also being released this Thursday. In this highly-interactive underwater abode, you can play a variety of built-in mini-games like the multi-player shooter Blast Zone. It even comes with its own pet that interacts with your avatar. And to top it all off, we?re even bringing the popular Hot Shots Golf game space over from Japan for all of you North American fans of this hugely popular franchise. Visit the space this Thursday, participate in our in-world survey, and walk away with a special prize.

Giant PS Home Update ? Audi, Gravity Crash, LittleBigPlanet & More!

Hi guys, We have an enormous PlayStation Home update for you tomorrow ? including three new spaces and a bevy of brand new items. Here?s everything you need to know:

Gravity Crash

First up, we have a brand new SCEE event coming to you tomorrow themed around the awesome retro PSN shooter Gravity Crash, aptly titled: Gravity Crash: Maze to the Mothership!

Head for the Presentation Podium (located under the PS Home stack of chips) where you will find an enormous PSN logo that will teleport you to the brand new neon maze. There are two prizes on offer here, one if you complete the maze (which isn?t easy) and another for collecting all of the crystals along the way (which is even harder!). Successful maze-completers will be rewarded with a fully animated Gravity Crash suit for their avatar (one of the best costumes yet if I do say so myself?)

As always, this space will only be open for a limited time so make sure you head on over to the Presentation Podium ASAP for some retro mazing action.

LittleBigPlanet

It?s arrived, the first wave of LittleBigPlanet content for PS Home is here!

First up, we have a selection of fresh and funky LittleBigPlanet clothing items for your avatar, take your pick from a selection of hoodies, t-shirts, jeans and caps ? see below for an assortment of these scrumptious designs:

However that?s not all, we also have an array of cardboard-created LittleBigPlanet furniture for your personal space ? including a selection of sofas, footstools, chairs and a particularly smashing rug. Check out the screenshots below:

A couple of the sofas fit together so let?s see what you can create out of these new bits and pieces? icon_wink.gif

Plus, as an added festive bonus, as of tomorrow, you will be able to game launch into the LittleBigPlanet Blu-ray from within PS Home. Lovely.

Both the clothing and new furniture items can be found in the Shopping Centre (in the Home Threads and Furniture stores respectively) ? oh, and keep your eyes on the EU blog for more info on upcoming LittleBigPlanet Home content ? it?s going to be worth the wait? icon_wink.gif

The SingStar Rooms: VIP

Now, for a somewhat funkier festive experience, why not head on over to The SingStar Rooms where the VIP space has re-opened its doors!

4189745511_f2210c4d41.jpg

Completely re-decked and re-themed, (after the Dizzee Rascal gig) why not (if the elves in the Winter Wonderland are proving too troublesome icon_wink.gif ) hit the dancefloor for a trendier festive experience?

There?s a new mini-game (keep an eye on the newly installed spotlights icon_wink.gif ) which, if completed successfully, will reward you with a magnificent new present, plus, there?s loads of new musical content on the rooftop jumbo screen.

As always, The SingStar Rooms: VIP will be open for a limited time only so make sure you get in there before it closes its doors in preparation for the next event!

Audi Space

Now last, but by no means least, as Alex mentioned last week, tomorrow will see the launch of the fantastic new Audi space. Make sure you hit the Virtual Run mini-game in the brand-new e-tron for your chance to win a spanking new personal space. This really isn?t one you want to miss out on. icon_wink.gif

I?ll be around for a while if you have any comments, otherwise I?ll see you soon in PS Home.

That Audi game is bloody hard, but I want to unlock the apartment, it looks cool...

Phee I noticed you invited me to Sodium, so I had to check out what it was...

Introducing Sodium One: The Next Evolution of PlayStation Home

Today marks the next evolutionary step of the PlayStation Home platform, as we release a massive 50 level vehicle combat game wrapped inside a highly-interactive and expansive social gaming environment known as Sodium One? a truly revolutionary gaming experience developed by Outso Ltd. and published by Lockwood Publishing Ltd. This entertainment event, set in a future of advanced technology where man and machine meet on a vast salt plain to turn deadly battle into extreme sport, resides only in the ever-growing world of PlayStation Home. And come opening day, you will want to be the first person in. That is, of course, if you want to be the last person standing.

A new benchmark for social gaming in PlayStation Home, Sodium One will launch with an explosive game known as Salt Shooter ? a 50 level combat challenge where players can collect items to level up gameplay and strategically customize hovertanks with weapons, armor, and countermeasures. These level-ups can be obtained in a variety of ways, including meeting in-game objectives, trading resources collected in the Sodium world, and purchasing items that unlock upgrades in the Sodium environment (such as the tank pilot jackets, which grant access to additional levels of the game, leaderboards, and the pilots' VIP lounge). All of this is built upon an MMO framework that includes additional games like Desert Quench and Scorpion Stomp, associated rewards and collectibles, and personal questing adventures, all of which are tracked by the Sodium AI Information Android known as VICKIE. The above games make for a truly next-level PlayStation Home space that centers on the concept of offering persistent objectives and long-term rewards to the PlayStation Home community, so users may work together to reach score targets and unlock future content and continuously upgrade their personal gaming experiences.

A dynamic and immersive gaming environment that will continue to expand over time by offering new games, community events, and virtual items, Sodium One is an experience unique to the PlayStation Home platform. By leveraging the computing power of the PS3, Outso Ltd. has succeeded in creating a graphically-rich, community-based game that is leaps ahead of anything offered on other consoles. To celebrate this momentous event, we will be making a limited number of unique voucher codes ? good for a full unlock of the entire Salt Shooter combat game ? available to 1,050 PlayStation Home community members that explore the space during the first 7 days (150 users per day). All you have to do is log in to PlayStation Home, enter the Sodium One space and interact with VICKIE for your chance to unlock the full game. We are proud to join you, the PlayStation Home community, as we embark on a journey to the next level of social gaming on the PS3. So make sure you log into PlayStation Home today to take part in all that this amazing new gaming world known as Sodium One has to offer. And, as always, stay tuned to the official PlayStation.Blog for updates regarding the Sodium One space and all other events and content scheduled to appear in PlayStation Home throughout what is sure to be an incredibly exciting new year.

Do you have to finish in first or just finish? My issue is I keep flying off the track LOL.

By the way that SodiumOne space is the most impressive thing they've done so far to show off how flexible the home engine is. It's basically a full on shooter with loot/customizable engine parts/guns and everything else. There's an achievement system as well which gives you points to trade in. A little bit like the MMO gaming they talked about above.

You need to get a jump of over 3000 meters, trick is to turn in early and make sure you pick up the electric boosters (dont use them though) on the final straight avoid the blue slowdowns. Then once you get to the end and take off use the eletric boosters each time your speed drops below about 170mph to put back up to 299 if you have collected 4 boosts you should make it easily :)

Apparently if you spend New Years Eve/Day in Home you get some goodies, posting this just for Sethos as I know at 11:59pm he'll be sitting with his pizza and beer on PS Home - http://e4g.info/3081/new-years-eve-items-i...ation-home.html

Plus it gives me another reason to bump this topic (Y)

Haha

Although, that is quite sad - celebrating the new year in Home? It'll probably be filled with people ...

Unfortunately the flat party I'm going to only has a Wii/360 (racists), or I'd be there, no doubts, speaking to HotChineseWomenLolz3244PinkHorsesFTW about what clothes she just bought from the diesel store.

And yeah sadly it probably will have quite a few people kicking about, pop in for us and check it out would you? ;)

    • What they really need to do is automatically spell "loses" and "lose" correctly since nobody seems to know how to anymore. Then they blame spellcheck/autocomplete and don't realize autocomplete is just filling in the word for them automatically so it was misspelled in the first place.
    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
