Spotify - Amazing Legal music App

Question

I came across www.spotify.com a few days ago, and I must say it's amazing! Been using it ever since, and haven't had a need to open itunes at all. Has pretty much every song I search for, and plays instantly with no buffering or problems etc, for a beta its very good. Anyway, it was invite only but today it's gone public so anyone and everyone can sign up. Give it a go, see what you think, i think it's a new revolution in how we will listen to music in the future.

Here's a review: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=LQC2eBQ7Lsk

^Hmmm...doesn't seem to be working for me :/ Thanks anyway.

Odd, still gives me the sign up form here as it did before.

Unfortunately, I wasn't given any invites when I signed up otherwise I'd PM you one.

EDIT: Heh, you must have edited just after I posted. Atleast it worked.

Thats ok for the workaround BUT.

They are now finding out that you registered with a proxy :( so you only have 14 days of trial with it.

If anyone could make a program that could launch it with a uk ip, that would be great :D

Thanks,

David.

P.S : For Spotifyr in C:\Users\[username here]\AppData\Local\Spotify\Storage for vista is where it stores the file, under .FILE encoded under .ogg i think :/

I tried it via the proxy and each time i submit to create the account all i get is this

$('languagebutton').style.display = 'none';
Copyright ? 2007-2008 Spotify Ltd
var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-5784146-1"); pageTracker._trackPageview();

This app has been even more impressive than I had expected

QFT. It's so FAST!

And I didn't have the "current song stops playing when I search" problem that was mentioned here. The song just kept playing while I searched. (Y) Also, when I left it for a while, it would just play the following songs in the search results, as if the search results were a dynamic playlist of sorts. VERY slick :cool: :yes:

Umm yeah. They patched the proxy -.-

@ zach_

This is also what happened, since you registered through the proxy. I would advise you to run Spotify through a UK proxy (to fool it), if thats possible.

This site is available for me in Canada and lets me play the entire song of my choice

Its kind of like last.fm=no software install

http://www.imeem.com/discover/

imeem is a great option if you want to play songs on the web.

I also like esnips.com and skreemr.com

    • Linux 7.2's first release candidate gets off to a good start by Paul Hill Credit: Larry Ewing It has been a few weeks since the release of Linux 7.1, and in that time, the Linux 7.2 merge window has been open, where developers can submit their features and patches ready for the upcoming release. That window is now shut, and the release candidate phase has begun so that new features can be tested and further fixes applied. According to the founder of Linux, Linus Torvalds, this week’s release candidate looks “reasonably normal”. Although we are super early in the release candidates, this is a good sign as it makes it more likely that an eighth release candidate will not be needed. Torvalds even mentioned that the update’s stats are only larger than they really are because there was another AMD header drop with a third of the patch just being AMD GPU register definitions, which aren’t big changes but make the code contributed look larger overall. In addition to this, he noted that just over half the patch is drivers, even when excluding the AMD register dump. The rest of the changes are spread out over architecture updates, tooling, documentation, and core kernel updates. In the next week, Torvalds says that he will be chilling out, taking the week “mostly off”. Despite this, he will be reading emails and keeping up with things, so if he is slow responding, now you know why. He said he is hoping for a calm week, but we will just have to see if the second release candidate is actually like that. We should expect seven or eight release candidates before Linux 7.2 is released, so expect it around the end of August. If you missed it a few weeks ago, be sure to check out our coverage of Linux 7.1's release.
