What is your favourite game of all time?

Best single player gaming 'experience' i had is definitely...

Mafia (on PC) (i first played it in Aug 2002 and have replayed it at least 10+ times since then as i typically replay it once a year nowadays. it's got a great story/characters/gameplay and it's ending left a solid emotional impact on you that i have yet to get from another game out there to date. it rivals quality mob films.) (this is hands down my favorite in the big picture single player wise)

p.s. some others worth listing single player wise... 'Wave Race 64' on N64, Forza Motorsport series (1/2/3), Moral Kombat 1/2/3/UMK3, GoldenEye on N64 although this was primarily at it's best mutiplayer wise. Tetris (the original Tetris on original Gameboy is still BY FAR the best version of tetris out there to date). DooM (the ones in the early 1990's) as it's pretty much the first computer game i liked a lot. Diablo 2 (the last RPG i liked a lot) etc etc etc.

----------------------------------------------------

if you want to look at mutiplayer i would have to list...

- Counter-Strike (& source) as THE best mutiplayer shooter ever since i been playing that since 2000 to date and it's still solid. nothing else really even comes close in the big picture.

-GoldenEye (on N64) (this has got to be EASILY my favorite shooter on a console simply because of the Nostalgia i had playing this 1 on 1 with my cousin back in late 1997 and 1998 etc on the Archives level. this game i still praise to this day even though if i am being honest it does not hold up nearly as well as the other two series i listed in the Multiplayer section here to this day.)

-Mortal Kombat 2D series (primarily MK3/UMK3 arcade versions. although the SOUND on MK2 was the best) (these are still BY FAR the best fighting games ever made. and good news is MK9 (due out early 2011) is supposedly going back to a more 2D flavor which should be a big boost to the series as the 3D ones are not nearly as fun as they are to sloooow vs the lightning quick UMK3 etc. the 2D MK series is pretty much THE BEST of the 1990's as i have the most Nostalgia from them to and i still like even to this day)

p.s. i was born in 1979 so i pretty much grew up and seen the transition from 'the old days' to modern stuff with the general Atari 2600 Jr to NES etc etc.

I've had a dedication to one game or series since it started. I have bought, owned and play(ed) every years copy of NHL by EA Sports right back to NHL 90 on the Sega Genesis. It's always been my favourite. They keep adding features every year that you really almost have to say that that one is your favourite, most times. There were a few years that I didn't really like after a few months. NHL 97 was one, NHL 09. But to think of the fun, back on the Genesis was really fun. It could be that I was a kid then and now I'm a little more serious about it. I have a lot of fun now but I'm more into the Be A GM or Be a Pro with long term strategies coming into play and making the trades and moves, etc.

But the NHL series by EA Sports has and will always be my all-time fav.

have not had a fair chance at GTA IV yet as im a pc gamer and someone gave me a 360 version of GTA IV about a year ago. think ill pick it up for pc now though. until now though it has to be GTA III

    • Bluesky COO warns social media regulations could destroy competition from small startups by Paul Hill Fears that increasing government control of social media risks regulatory capture by the biggest social media firms were raised again recently. Bluesky’s chief operating officer said in an interview that social media bans for children and tighter regulations for social media firms risk creating a world where there are only a few social media platforms run by companies with the deepest pockets. Regulations on social media firms have been very lax since they appeared for mainstream users in the 2000’s. This gave Meta, Snapchat, and Google time to build up their user bases and get entrenched, with Meta being the most successful. Now that Meta has succeeded, it has been attempting regulatory capture. By pushing for more regulations of social media, Meta hopes to make it more difficult for rivals to challenge it. For its part, it doesn’t need to worry about the cost of regulation because it has a lot of money to spend, whereas startups do not. Speaking to CNBC, Rose Wang, Bluesky’s chief operating officer, said: “I support the protection and the safety of youth, the question that we have then is at what cost, because essentially what I’m scared of is in the long term, we’re headed to a world where there’s about three to five platforms, and extreme heavy regulation of those platforms, and basically the whole compliance teams of these platforms are 10 times the size of our entire team. So, basically, we’re living in a world where it’s almost impossible for smaller entrants to come in and build healthier spaces. These platforms have led to a place where the bottom line is the thing that drives what they do... so I understand why governments have to step in and regulate, because the platforms have done nothing right.” She said that while she is not against regulation, there needs to be more channels between the small to mid-sized players and regulators to help protect them. She says that big tech players, on the other hand, “who we know are circumventing regulation,” need to be regulated. Essentially, the Bluesky position is one of nuance, rather than absolutes. While Bluesky’s proposal may preserve competition in the social media space, it still doesn’t address the massive privacy implications these age verification measures introduce, such as handing over sensitive identity documents to access age-gated content.
