Aston Villa have completed the signing of Fabian Delph from Leeds United.

The highly-rated 19-year-old agreed terms and passed a medical on Tuesday, according to a statement on Villa's official website.

The fee is undisclosed, but it is rumoured that Leeds could earn up to ?8m from the deal.

The midfielder, who made his England Under-21 debut last year, rose through the ranks at Elland Road and was a regular for United last season.

He signed a new four-year deal with Leeds in September last year, but continued to attract interest from Premier League clubs.

My favorite club teams, Barcelona and Arsenal, are certainly having a weird, uncharacteristic summer transfer period... I wonder what Wenger plans to do before the window closes.

Well Chamakh was seen in London not so long ago and Fiorentina have issued an ultimatum to reduce Eboue price tag or they'll end interest in him.. I say.. SELL HIM WENGER!!

Liverpool have confirmed they have agreed a fee with Roma for Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani.

The transfer is reported to be worth ?20m and is subject to a medical being completed later in the week.

"Alberto has a winning mentality and great experience in both Serie A and the Champions League," said Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez.

The move comes just hours after the Reds sold Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid for ?30m.

I suppose you have to fit Raul in there as well :p! Higuain played brilliantly last season and he deserves a place. You still have Pepe, Gago, Marcelo, van der Vaart, Sneijder, van Nistlerooy, Negredo, Huntelaar vying for a place...although it looks like the dutch quartet will be leaving.

It's a crazy team, although I still fancy Barca if Ibrahimovic fits in instantly.

AC Milan had long been looking for a striking addition to their squad, having turned their attention to Klaas Jan Huntelaar after being rebuffed in their quest for Sevilla's Luis Fabiano.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Huntelaar will pen a contract until 2013 with the Italian outfit tomorrow and will earn ?3,5 million per year at the San Siro.

Milan owner, S?lvio Berlusconi, had indicated earlier today that the club would sign a "great goalscorer" and they seem to have finally found their man in the shape of Huntelaar.

The 25-year-old, who rejected an ?18m move to VfB Stuttgart, signed for Real Madrid in January for ?20 million, scoring eight goals in 20 appearances for the cgoal.comcom]

the teame is awesome, but the Xavi-Iniesta -Massi trio is better!

Less than 48 hours after it was reported that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had terminated his interest in Girondins de Bordeaux forward Marouane Chamakh, a report in L?Equipe has stated that the Gunners have increased their offer for the want-away Moroccan forward.

The Chamakh saga has been long and arduous, but Bordeaux now seem willing to reach a compromise with Arsenal, having initially asked for ?19m.

?It?s up to Arsene to see what he wants to do. What I am hoping for is to reach a gentleman?s agreement,? said club president Jean-Louis Triaud.

?It?s always been clear between Chamakh and us. If there is a team in the big four we will look at it. But on terms that are acceptable to Bordeaux.?

Having seen their initial bid rejected, Arsenal have moved again for Chamakh, bidding a reported ?9m, clearly hoping that the player?s public unhappiness at the situation plays in their favour.

Triaud seemed to agree, saying, "The moment a player says ?I?ll go there and nowhere else? it?s easier for Arsenal. Chamakh?s dream is to join Arsenal and that?s understandable. He?s grown up with our club, and we want to please him.?

The Parisian-based publication states that this will be the final time the north London side move for Chamakh, indicating that they have several other lines of enquiry they can follow, including Chelsea?s Salomon Kalou.

Although he has expressed his frustration with the situation, the striker remains professional, training hard for the only senior team he has ever played for. The Aquitaine-born player has already indicated that he will play for Bordeaux this season if needs must, but he will leave under the Bosman ruling next summer if his desire to leave now is not granted.

In other news, Triaud also apologised publically for his dismissive comments about Sunderland.

?When I saw Steve Bruce?s reaction I sent him a little letter telling him that it was a misunderstanding and that we never said Sunderland wasn?t a respectable club," he said.

"We expressed ourselves badly and we apologise. It?s a matter of courtesy."

Milan have announced the signing of Real Madrid striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

Earlier this morning Rossoneri general manager Adriano Galliani confirmed that an agreement had been reached with Real Madrid for the frontman, and the official confirmation has now arrived.

A statement on Milan's official website reads:

"A.C. Milan communicate they have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the purchase of striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

"The Dutch footballer will be subjected to the medical checks tomorrow, after which he will sign a contract which will keep him at the Rossoneri club until 30 June 2013."

Goal.com understands that Huntelaar has signed a four-year contract with the San Siro club. The transfer fee Milan have paid Real Madrid is believed to be ?15 million.

This represents Milan's first significant signing of the summer. The Italian giants had made no secret of their intention to buy a top-class striker, and they will now be hoping that Huntelaar proves to be that man.

The 25-year-old, who only joined Real Madrid from Ajax in January for ?20m, scored eight goals in 20 games for the Blancos before being deemed surplus to requirements following the return as president of Florentino Perez this summer.

Speaking at the launch of Arsenal?s Charity of the Season, the French manager suggested he was interested in ?one offensive and one defensive player? to add to his squad.

However when asked about the much-rumoured re-signing of his former captain, Wenger replied: "Not at the moment, no.?

He went on: "We can still make do with one or two players more.

"One could be in the defensive areas, and one in the attacking areas.

"We make a few enquires for players, but we are nowhere near to signing anybody at the moment.

"Usually the transfer market only speeds up from August 26 up to midnight on August 31 ? and especially in the last two hours."

We do need a top class striker and a defensive midfielder or a strong CB..

Also Negredo is off to Roma..

Tottenham have completed the signing of Newcastle defender Sebastien Bassong.

The 23-year-old centre-back passed a medical on Thursday after agreeing personal terms, with the transfer believed to be worth about ?8m.

Spurs were keen to bring in a defender as Michael Dawson is sidelined for the start of the season, while Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate are doubtful.

But Bassong is banned for the first two games in August after being sent off in the Magpies' final game of last season.

Bassong joined Newcastle from French club Metz in July 2008, but could not prevent the Magpies being relegated to the Championship, though he was one of the few players at the club to emerge with credit from a disastrous season.

"I like him very much. He is young with a good future," said Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, talking before the deal was finalised.

Tottenham start their Premier League campaign with a home match against Liverpool on 16 August before a game at Hull three days later.

Dawson is out with an Achilles injury, while Woodgate is struggling with a groin problem and King has long-standing issues with his knees.

"You have to keep strengthening the squad if you can and moving forward," added Redknapp.

"Jonathan has got an injury and Michael Dawson, who did terrific for us last season, is also injured and he is going to miss the start of the season.

"We are relying on Ledley. He is our only recognised centre-half and he has not trained as usual. Wednesday was the first day out training with us since last season so we'll wait and see."

Newcastle, still without a full-time manager, kick-off their Championship campaign against West Brom on Saturday.

Saw a report today abt Martin 'O Neill saying he 'likes' Wesley Sneijder and how he thinks he is a great player.. if Sneijder joins Villa as Barry replacement they can again mount a serious challenge for four top this season.. IMO they can be more dangerous than City..

Liverpool have today confirmed the capture of Italian international midfielder Alberto Aquilani from Roma, with the Reds' official website confirming that the player has signed a five-year contract.

The 25-year-old is currently recovering from an operation on an ankle injury, and is expected to be fit in around four to eight weeks time.

Roma defender John Arne Riise, a team-mate of the midfielder's in Rome as well as a former Anfield star, thinks that Aquilani will prove to be a success with Rafa Benitez's side.

"When I first came to Roma, I didn't know a thing about Aquilani," said the Norwegian, who moved to the Italian capital a year ago.

"I knew all about Francesco Totti, Daniele De Rossi and Philippe Mexes, of course, but Aquilani was the player who surprised me the most in my first months with what he could do.

"He's really good on the ball, with good passing, good movement, he works hard and is a good professional.

"He likes to have the ball at his feet but not because he likes to dribble, he just wants to keep the team moving. He never stands still, he's always on the run.

"He certainly runs more than Xabi and is probably more dangerous in terms of getting in the box and trying to score goals.

"When I came to Rome he was my neighbour and helped me out a lot. He's a good friend. Liverpool will be getting a very good player."

Why is everyone asking for David Villa at United? I certainly don't want him with us, he's too old anyway. :D And we don't need any more striker.

People are talking abt Silva to United not many are talking abt Villa.. Silva is a great winger but I feel Jesus Navas can be just as good if not better.. strange no one talks abt him.. and wrt Villa.. he is a very good striker.. watch a replay of Spanish matches of Euro if you missed them ;)

Edited by Kralik

Silva and Villa usually come up every transfer window, but haven't heard much about them and United this time. Fergie has said they've wrapped up dealings for now anyway. Valencia looks like he's fitting in well and I hope Owen can stay fit! Also a good chance for our youngsters to show what they can do.

Real Madrid Reach Agreement With Bayern Star Franck Ribery For 2010 - Report

Fresh off completing the purchase of their final Galactico, Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid have already set in motion their project for 2010.

According to AS, Florentino Perez has already sealed a deal with Franck Ribery after reaching an agreement with his agent, Alain Migliaccio which will see the Frenchman sign a five-year contract starting in 2010.

The only obstacle that remains now is negotiations with Bayern Munich for the transfer fee and another soap opera is expected to ensue this time next summer.

However, the Madrid-based daily believes that it will be much easier to persuade the Bavarians to release Ribery next year as the player?s contract at the Allianz Arena will expire in 2011, thus giving Los Blancos a massive upperhand in negotiations.

It is reported that an offer of ?25 million could be enough for the 26-year-old, as Bayern could be forced to part with their superstar midfielder for nothing if his switch to the Bernabeu is delayed until June 2011.

Ribery could even be allowed to leave for anywhere between ?16m and ?22m if the international player?s union, FIFPro, take their case to the European Commission should Bayern continue to refuse to let the player go.

But Perez is unwilling to cause a conflict and jeopardise his relationship with Die Roten as he prefers to sit down and settle the matter amicably with his German counterparts.

It had been speculated that the Madrid chief was prepared to offer ?55 million to Bayern to attain Ribery's services this summer.

If it's tue, that's a pretty bad deal for Bayern. Unless Ribery sign a new contract with them he's gonna cost significaly less next year. But Bayern Munich is a very very well driven club, so I'm not worry about them, and it's a sure thing Ribery will sign a big new contract this year.

    • AMD RX 9070 GRE AI, Blender benchmarks vs 9070 XT, 7800XT, Nvidia RTX 5070, 4070 by Sayan Sen Earlier this week, we shared the first part of our review of AMD's new RX 9070 GRE. It was about the gaming performance of the GPU, and we gave it an 8 out of 10. As a follow-up, similar to how we did with the 9070 XT and non-XT, we are doing a dedicated productivity review for the RX 9070 GRE as well, where we compare it against the 9070 XT, 9070, 7800 XT, as well as Nvidia's 5070 and 4070. This will include AI, rendering, compute, and more benchmarks. AI performance, especially, is a very important metric in today's world, and AMD also promised big improvements thanks to its underlying architectural improvements. We will be pitching it against the data we already have for the RX 9070, and RX 9070 XT, but also the Nvidia 5070 FE, MSI GeForce RTX 4070 VENTUS 2X 12G, and Gigabyte Radeon RX 7800 XT GAMING OC 16G as they are in a similar price class, but also because we do not have a comparable 5060 Ti card lying around here that we can compare it against. Before we get underway, this is a collaboration between Sayan Sen and Steven Parker, who lent me his test bed. Also, there was no editorial input from AMD. First up, the specs of the RX 9070, 9070 XT, and 9070 GRE, which were given to us by AMD: Radeon RX 9070 GRE Radeon RX 9070 Radeon RX 9070 XT Boost Clock: Game Clock: up to 2.79GHz up to 2.20GHz up to 2.52GHz up to 2.07GHz up to 2.97GHz up to 2.40GHz Stream Processors 3,072 (48 CU) 3,584 (56 CU) 4,096 (64 CU) Ray Accelerator 48 56 64 AI Accelerator 96 112 128 ROPs 96 128 Texture Mapping Units 192 224 256 Memory 12 GB GDDR6, 18Gbps Clock, 192-bit Bus 432 GB/s 16 GB GDDR6, 20Gbps Clock, 256-bit Bus Effective Memory Bandwidth: 640 GB/s Infinity Cache 48 MB (3rd Gen) 64 MB (3rd Gen) Card Bus PCI-E 5.0 X16 Output 2x HDMI 2.1b 2x DisplayPort 2.1a Power consumption 220W 304W Recommended PSU 650W 750W Slot width 2x 3x Price (SEP) $549 $599 As you can see from the specs above, it is less than the standard RX 9070 in every way that counts, except for slightly higher Boost and Game clock speed. Design Moving on, the RX 9070 GRE we were given is an XFX Swift triple-fan, dual-slot design with two 8-pin connectors. At 30cm (self-measured), it will fit in most systems easily. There is no RGB either. The AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE by XFX from all angles. Test system Our test system consists of the following: Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini V2 Flow (Amazon|Newegg) ASUS Z890 ProArt Creator WiFi (Amazon|Newegg) Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus (Amazon|Newegg) Thermal Grizzly KryoSheet - 44x37 (Amazon|Newegg) 2x 16GB G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB (7200 MT/s in XMP) (Amazon|Newegg) Sabrent Rocket4 Plus 2TB SSD (Amazon) Windows 11 25H2 (Build 26200.8246) AMD shared a press driver based on the recently released Adrenaline 26.5.2 that we were required to use. We now move on to our benchmarks. First up, we have Geekbench AI running on ONNX. For some reason, the 9070 GRE does exceptionally well here in both half-precision (FP16) and single-precision (FP32). It manages to beat the RTX 5070 and RX 9070 non-XT, and is only behind the 9070 XT. Since Geekbench runs in short bursts instead of continuously hammering the graphics card, it seems the GRE's faster boost clocks are helping here. Next up, we move to the UL Procyon AI test suite, starting with the image generation benchmark. We chose the Stable Diffusion XL FP16 test since it is the most intense workload available on Procyon. The Nvidia cards do very well here, as even the 4070 out-muscles AMD's best fairy easily. The positive thing about the GRE is that it gets quite close to the 9070 non-XT in this test; this indicates that the VRAM does not play a very big role here, as SD XL relies on float16 (FP16). So this is something to keep in mind again. If you wish to work with float32 AI workloads, graphics cards with larger than 12 GB buffers would likely emerge as victors. Regardless, the gains are still massive on AMD's 9000 series compared to the 7000 series. Following image generation, we move to the text generation benchmark. This is one test where the 9070 GRE struggled, quite a lot. It seems that the 12 GB VRAM and lower memory bandwidth of the new Radeon 9070 GRE are hurting it quite a bit; the split is massive, especially in a test like Llama2, which packs 13 billion parameters. As such, in all the tests, the 9070 GRE is the slowest of the lot. Next, we tried Blender, and here the AMD GPUs were beaten by Nvidia. Rendering is something the Green team has always had a lead over the Red side, and it has not changed so far. On the positive side, though, the 9070 GRE shows significantly better results than the 7800 XT, which means AMD is on the right path. Catching up to Nvidia, though, will require a lot more effort. And we hope HIP and ROCm can keep improving. Wrapping up AI testing, we measured OpenCL throughput in the Geekbench compute benchmark. The RX 9070 GRE alongside the 9070 did not fare well here at all, even falling behind the 7800 XT. Interestingly, even the RTX 5070 could not beat the 4070 on OpenCL, so perhaps this suggests that OpenCL optimization may not have been a priority for either AMD or Nvidia in the modern era. Conclusion We reached the end of our productivity performance review of the 9070 GRE, and we have to say it's a mixed bag. Unlike the 9070 and 9070 XT, the GRE excels in some areas while losing ground fairly easily in others. Similar to how it happened in gaming, any time the card's memory subsystem gets hammered, it tends to fall behind the others. This was the case with text generation, wherein we saw the VRAM sometimes hit its maximum available 12 GB of usage with larger model sizes. So what do we make of the RX 9070 as a productivity hardware? It can certainly be used, but you have to know it has its limitations. For those looking for a GPU that can deal with more, AMD recently unveiled the Radeon AI PRO R9700, which is essentially a 32 GB refresh of the 9070 XT with some additional workstation-based optimizations. On a similar note, the new Ryzen AI Halo platform is something you can consider if you want to set up a local AI processing station. Considering everything, we rate AMD's Radeon RX 9070 GRE a 7.5 out of 10 for its productivity performance. Price is less of a factor for those looking at productivity cases compared to those considering the GPU for gaming, and as such, we felt it did quite decently on many occasions and can be handy if you need a 12 GB GPU and, for some reason, don't want to get Nvidia.
