Barcelona have reportedly concluded the transfer of Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Inter.

According to Sport, Joan Laporta, Txiki Begiristain and Raul Sanllehi met with Massimo Moratti late on Thursday and an agreement was reached around midnight.

The transfer will see the Blaugrana part with ?40 million plus Samuel Eto?o and Aliaksandr Hleb, with the Belarussian joining the Nerazzurri on a loan spell.

The Barcelona-based daily believes that Inter had initially informed the Blaugrana that Ibrahimovic was keen on moving to the Camp Nou, at which point the Catalan club contacted Eto?o, who immediately gave the part-exchange deal the green light.

And when Barca?s own negotiations with Valencia for David Villa all but collapsed, Laporta promptly contacted Moratti to arrange an emergency meeting last night upon receiving a request from the head coach, Pep Guardiola, to conclude the deal as soon as possible.

It is also speculated that ?Ibracadabra? will take a pay-cut in order to play for ?El Tricampeon? ? and also ensure that he does not eclipse Lionel Messi ? while Eto?o has allegedly demanded ?13m from the San Siro outfit for a period of five years, or ?65 million in total.

orly Fergie no more people :p

Despite Sir Alex Ferguson's statement that the club would no longer be making mammoth splashes in the transfer market this summer, Manchester United have completed a swoop for Senegalese striker Mame Biram Diouf, 21.

A statement on the club's official website indicated, "Manchester United and Molde F.K are pleased to announce that they have agreed terms for the transfer of Mame Biram Diouf.

"Diouf is to attend a medical in Manchester next week with a view to joining the club in January. Until that time he will remain with Molde F.K. on loan."

United chief executive David Gill intimated earlier this week that more signings may follow the acquisitions of Michael Owen, Gabriel Obertan, and Luis Antonio Valencia.

Ferguson added, "We weren't intending on signing anyone else after last week - we feel we have a full squad - but the situation accelerated to a point where other clubs started to make bids.

"So we had to decide whether we acted or didn't. We decided to act and he'll be last person we sign."

40 million + Samuel Eto'o for Ibrahimovic?

Eto'o is one hundred times the player Ibrahimovic is. After Torres, he has to be the second best striker in the world.

How many times can I fit the word "bull****" into this post? :p

Seriously, Eto'o is not the second best striker in the world. I wouldn't even put him in the top 20. Ibrahimovic is much better, and worth 40 million euros + Eto'o.

You need to stop watching Ibrahimovic's highlights wheel on YouTube and actually learn something about football.

You need to stop watching Ibrahimovic's highlights wheel on YouTube and actually learn something about football.

You need to get your facts right. Eto'o scores mostly tap-ins. And he can't be second-best in the world when Diego Forlan scored more goals than Eto'o in La Liga last season!

And no bugger wants him because his wage demands are ridiculous! Pep Guardiola actually had to give him an extra week holiday this week so he can find a new club!

Goals are goals, or do you think that only 'pretty ones' should count ?

If you want to speak of facts, Eto'o scored 36 goals last season including a goal in the Champions League Final. Not bad for a player who would not even make your list of the top 20 strikers in the world.

Don't get me wrong, Ibrahimovic is a brilliant player, but he is not in the same mould as Eto'o. He has the horrible trait of being lazy, in about eight games a season he will score a fancy goal or do a nice trick and everyone will ###### themselves silly over him for the next few months.

Your point about Forlan is void by the way, Eto'o scored more goals than him last season.

Fair enough, I'll concede. My fault for going with my brother's "facts". :p I just looked up La Liga last season, and yeah, it is true that Forlan scored two more goals than Eto'o but only in the league. And he seems to have something about any player that scores "boring" goals. He feels the same about Frank Lampard. He's probably still a little miffed about the Champions League Final. :p God knows why though; we were **** and that was that.

I do stand by my belief though that Eto'o is getting a bit big for his boots. If he wants to play for a new club, he has to lower his wage demands, because not even Man City would buy him with whatever he's asking for.

IMO Eto is good but not the second best in the world. David Villa and Aguero are both better than him and Pato and Vela will be better than him in the future.. i also feel Ibrahimovich is not worth ?40M.. not more than ?32M for that matter.. he is nothati> good.. however seeing the recent money paid.. ?40 sounds like a reasonable price.. but its not ?40M though is it? Its ?40M plus Eto'o who is worth ?30M thats ?70M for Ibra.. they must be:wacko::wacko:

i also feel Ibrahimovich is not worth ?40M.. not more than ?32M for that matter.. he is nothati> good.. however seeing the recent money paid.. ?40 sounds like a reasonable pri:wacko:ko:

Agreed. I'm still laughing at the ?80 million Real Madrid paid us for Ronaldo:rofl:ofl: Realistically, no player is worth ?80 million, possibly not even half that.

I agree.. but only the best players do that.. Bergkamp did that to stay with us and Villa is willing to take a paycut to sign with Barca.. I can't understand why they want Ibrahimovich? They have Henry and Messi and will sign Villa soon.. let Eto'o go Barca.. get Villa and Aguro or Pato..

Agreed.

Going from Barca to Man City is obviously going to be all about the money, he tried to milk them for all he can get and who can blame him? If I was going to move from the European Champions in sunny Spain to rainy Manchester and Man City...then I would want a lot of money! It is the same for a lot of players though, unfortunately it's all about the money now.

Agreed. I'm still laughing at the ?80 million Real Madrid paid us for Ronaldo!: Realistically, no player is worth ?80 million, possibly not even half that.

Yup.

Plus it may make Man Utd threads a bit cleaner (and more boring) as 80% of the bitching and whining from Liverpool/Chelsea fans was about Ronald:rofl:l:

Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, has confirmed that the swap deal involving Blaugrana striker Samuel Eto'o and Inter forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic is imminent, saying that negotiations for Ibrahimovic are "at a good stage" and "there is an agreement in principle with Inter".

He also noted that he has spoken with Eto'o, adding that, for the striker, his future "is not about the money".

The Catalan club chairman added that signing Ibrahimovic will cost the club ?45 million, Samuel Eto'o and the loan of Hleb.

Wow!:o:o thats one great piece of business for Inter..

I read on Goal.com that Arsenal have given permission to Ade to sign with City and he is set to have a medical there soo:p:p great news for us.. we should sell him and get a proper striker who doesn't miss from 6 yards..

Here's some Gunner's news..

Arsenal are to offer fellow London club Fulham a player-plus-cash swap deal in order to snare towering centre-back Brede Hangeland away from Craven Cottage, according to The Daily Star, who claim that Philippe Senderos is the defender deemed disposable by the north London management.

Daily Star

Emmanuel Adebayor is set to remove all doubts over his future today, as he undergoes a medical at Manchester City.

Adebayor had seemed minutes away from signing for the Citizens earlier in the week, before expressing last-minute doubts over how the deal would be perceived in his native Togo.

However, according to The Sun, those doubts have now been erased, and Adebayor will today undergo a medical at Eastlands, where he is set to earn around ?130,000 a week.

City will pay Arsenal around ?25 million for his services, and a work permit has already been granted, meaning the signing can be completed as soon as he passes the medical.

?25M.. fair enough.. we can get a great striker for that money..

Like this man..

Real Madrid's sporting director Jorge Valdano has today revealed that no offer for striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has been forthcoming from Premier League giants Arsenal, and, indeed, there has been only one serious offer so far for the Dutchman.

Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart remain the only club to have made a concrete bid, and the Netherlands international, only six months into his time in Spain after a January move from Ajax, is said to be still considering their offer.

"Only one formal offer exists and that is Stuttgart's," Sky Sports reports Valdano as telling Spanish media.

We can also start Eduardo and give Vela + Bendtner more chances.. but I hope Wenger signs a big name of Henry/can Nistelroy caliber..

So lets get this straight..

Craig Bellamy, Benjani Mwaruwari, Carlos Tevez, Ched Evans, Felipe Caicedo, J?, Robinho, Roque Santa Cruz, Valeri Bojinov and soon Ade and they still want Forlan?:

and another thing.. how come there are no City fans here?:pp

Isn't Jo at Everton this season and chances are he will sign for good at the end of the season because Moyes seems to like him.

I lol at Bellamy though so much money wasted...thank you Man City :p

He is.. you are right.. but still lets see who else they sell.. these are too many forwards for any team..

btw.. is Iron Man 2 coming soon? :p

    • An actual cosmic "Eye of Sauron" had been looking straight at us all along by Sayan Sen Image by Kovin P. Vasquez via Pexels | Not representative An international team of researchers has solved a long-standing mystery surrounding a distant blazar known as PKS 1424+240, helping explain why it produces some of the brightest high-energy gamma rays and cosmic neutrinos ever observed despite appearing to have a relatively slow-moving jet. The findings were published on June 6 in Astronomy & Astrophysics Letters. The study addresses a broader challenge in astrophysics: understanding how extreme cosmic objects accelerate particles to very high energies and produce very high-energy (VHE) photons and neutrinos. PKS 1424+240 is located billions of light-years from Earth. It has attracted attention for years because it is both a powerful source of VHE gamma rays and the brightest known neutrino-emitting blazar in the sky, according to observations by the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. It is also associated with one of the strongest peaks in IceCube's nine-year neutrino sky map A blazar is a type of active galactic nucleus powered by a supermassive black hole that pulls in surrounding matter and launches jets of plasma moving close to the speed of light. What makes blazars unique is their orientation. One of their jets points almost directly toward Earth, making them appear exceptionally bright across the electromagnetic spectrum and allowing scientists to study some of the most extreme physical processes in the Universe. The scientists exclaimed it's like the 'Eye of Sauron' in deep space. Usually, the brightest gamma-ray-emitting blazars are expected to have jets that appear to move very quickly. However, radio observations of PKS 1424+240 suggested that its jet was moving much more slowly, creating a contradiction that became part of a long-running problem known as the "Doppler factor crisis." To investigate, researchers analyzed 15 years of observations from the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA), a network of 10 radio antennas spread across the continental United States, Hawaii and St. Croix. Using a technique called Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), astronomers combine signals from widely separated radio telescopes to create a virtual Earth-sized telescope capable of revealing extremely fine details. The team combined 42 polarization-sensitive radio images collected between 2009 and 2025, creating a much deeper and more detailed view of the jet than had previously been possible. The observations were carried out as part of MOJAVE (Monitoring Of Jets in Active galactic nuclei with VLBA Experiments), a long-running program that studies the brightness, polarization and magnetic field structures of jets produced by active galaxies. The project aims to better understand how activity near supermassive black holes is linked to high-energy radiation and neutrino emission. “When we reconstructed the image, it looked absolutely stunning,” said Yuri Kovalev, lead author of the study and Principal Investigator of the European Research Council-funded MuSES project at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. “We have never seen anything quite like it — a near-perfect toroidal magnetic field with a jet, pointing straight at us.” The image revealed an unusual geometry. The researchers found that Earth lies almost directly in line with the jet, with a viewing angle of less than 0.6 degrees. In simple terms, astronomers are looking almost straight down the jet. This turned out to be the key to the mystery. Because the jet is aimed almost directly at Earth, a relativistic effect called Doppler boosting dramatically increases its apparent brightness. The study found that this effect boosts the emission by a factor of about 30 while also making the jet appear slower than it actually is. “This alignment causes a boost in brightness by a factor of 30 or more,” said Jack Livingston, a co-author at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. “At the same time, the jet appears to move slowly due to projection effects — a classic optical illusion.” The nearly head-on view also gave scientists a rare look at the jet's magnetic field. Using polarized radio signals, they detected a clear toroidal, or doughnut-shaped, magnetic field component. The observations suggest the jet carries an electric current and that its magnetic field helps launch, shape and stabilize the flow of plasma. Researchers believe this magnetic structure may also play a key role in accelerating particles to energies high enough to produce both gamma rays and neutrinos. “Solving this puzzle confirms that active galactic nuclei with supermassive black holes are not only powerful accelerators of electrons, but also of protons — the origin of the observed high-energy neutrinos,” Kovalev said. The research was conducted under the MuSES (Multi-messenger Studies of Energetic Sources) project, which investigates how active galactic nuclei accelerate particles and generate different cosmic signals, including light and neutrinos. Scientists say understanding how protons are accelerated and linked to neutrino production remains one of the major unanswered questions in astrophysics. The findings help explain why some blazars can appear to have slow jets while still producing extremely bright high-energy emissions. More broadly, the study strengthens the link between relativistic jets, magnetic fields, gamma rays and high-energy neutrinos. Researchers say the results provide new clues about how some of the Universe's most powerful natural particle accelerators work and offer important insights for multimessenger astronomy, which combines different types of cosmic signals to study extreme events in space.
