Codemasters reveals F1 game details

Recommended Posts

codeM are trying something no one has ever tried.

lets talk about that after we've experienced it ourselves.

too much realism will ruin the game, & they've to design the game for gamepad & KB.

noway i can play it w/o TC on a gamepad. +manual gearbox :p

anyways, watch this -

Hamster stalling & spinning in a baby formula car :p

Does anybody know if this game will feature the crappy games for windows live stuff that is required for Dirt 2?

yup.

Why do you find "GFW - Live" crappy? Just wondering, seeing as it does it's job, and does it well.

Agreed. GFW Live is great, and it works well with Steam without getting in the way. :)

Agreed. I've never heard anyone say NFS Shift is the most realistic, but yeah, since they managed to screw up drifting, I'd call it more unrealistic than Ridge Racer. :p

Sorry to go even more off-topic, but there's so many different patches for GPL, I don't know which one to install! Meph, what's your recommendation? I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I've downloaded this one at the moment.

Sorry for the late reply, I forgot to check the thread.

The GPL Installer you've downloaded is the easiest way to take care of installing GPL and all necessary patches.

I can?t wait for this to come out, I am going to be playing it with everything at max and I?m sure my PC will eat it for breakfast.

No doubt I will crash a lot, like I did when I first played Dirt 2, because I was looking at the scenery :D

Man, the driver in that video was terrible! But they were playing as Massa, so it's true-to-life. :p

I'm guessing almost all of the assists were turned on, as the handling looked really unrealistic.

The Massa at Monaco does suck. There is a good discussion about it over at the planet-f1 forums and it seems to be a case of a bad camera, bad driver, and the difficulty set to the easiest with all the aids being turned on. Here are some better ones which were posted:

Massa at Montreal (harder difficulty for sure) -

Adrian Sutil playing it at Gamescom -

Monaco with aids off -

Barcelona with aids off -

That was a great watch. Gives me confidence in the handling physics when you take off the assists.

Couple of things to say though:

- you can already see how multiplayer is going to have problems. People skipping huge parts of the track, and problems with lag in tight spots and people trying to re-enter the race

- why does he get a proper F1-style steering wheel? :p

Here is one of Sutil doing what appears to be a multiplayer race using the wheel setup they have at Gamescom:

The guy wasn't driving, or the steering wheel feedback is just not there. None of the actions he performed (including switching gears) registered on the screen.

In other videos (like

) you can actually see the steering wheel react in-game accurately, while in the above he (the steering wheel) had a mind of it's own.

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with ad blockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Samsung Browser'. It has very little bloat and is a nice-looking web browser with an inbuilt 'Ad blocker'. I also really like the web browser called 'Floorp' that is based on Firefox. This browser can also install Chrome extensions. I have a system wide Ad blocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the web browser, but over the whole system. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt ad blocker because of that.
