Codemasters reveals F1 game details

I'm trying to decide which format to buy.

Looking about the web, my PC doesn't seem to have the power to run it well so that leaves me with PS3 or xbox.

Now I'm not bothered about online, I'm more interested in career mode.

I love the xbox controller for racing games, I fine the triggers to be comfortable but the xbox is only on a 720p 22" TV

The PS3 has 5.1 surround sound, 37" 1080p TV and I have the clip on triggers but I just don't feel as if I get the same response with the triggers compared to the xbox controller..

Definitely going for this on the PC. Even if it's half as fun as driving f3000 on GRID I will love it.

Looks like I'll be running with the 'onboard' camera, rather than the head cam.

I assume this will be DX11 like Dirt 2 was, so my PC may be needing an upgrade from my 4870.

I can see F1 being delayed on the PC. Like Dirt 2. It will get close to September and Codies will announce they need to delay it for extra polish.

I'm sticking with the 360 version for now. To be on the safe side. If it however does appear to get released with the console versions, i might just change my pre-order.

I will be getting the PC version which is due out on 24th September 2010. (Same date for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) :D

I play Dirt 2, Need for Speed Shift, Grid, Blur (for a bit of fun) and the best F1 game to date on the PC GP4 ( in know it is old, but at the moment it is still very good)

As you can see my PC spec it will play anything, and I am looking forward to playing this game not only for the game play, but also the visuals, with everything turned up to the max :yes:

I did have the 360 version pre-ordered at ShopTo for ?31.98, but I decided to cancel it this week, and go for the PC version.

And no, it's not because of "you-know-what"; the PC version will have one thing that the console versions won't (besides better-looking graphics and potentially higher framerates): mods. It's why I play RACE 07/GTR Evolution, and rFactor; they have hugely dedicated modding communities (especially over at NoGrip), and even the older sims (GT Legends, GTR2, Rally Trophy) still get a lot of attention.

The mods for F1 2010 may just end up being limited to little things, such as camera angles and graphical tweaks, but I'd still welcome them with open arms. :)

If talking to the media is such a big component of the career I can see myself not bothering with this.

Also that's clearly footage from the PC version. Wouldn't mind seeing what the consoles look like.

Why is talking to the media such a deal-breaker?

If you've watched F1 for the last couple of years, interaction between the media/in-team rivalries has been more exciting than the races themselves. I see it as a huge plus point that we're getting some proper FM-style integration - I can't wait to annoy my team member then urinate all over him on the track :o

Of course, I'm hoping your behaviour off track may play a small part in how your rival drives in the next race etc.

Because it's ****ing boring? I play games to get away from boring things.

GP4 is still the only racing game I've played with genuinely realistic AI and the reason why I still rank it above every racing game I've played since. They would race you, block you, try to overtake, make mistakes (not just randomly spinning off - going too deep, running wide, letting the tail slip out, caving to pressure), etc as if they were real people. While other racing games have been great in other areas, I've yet to find one that is as good as GP4 for single player racing. In most games since they just seem to drive fairly sedately, with them receiving a cheating boost down straights (depending on difficulty) to try and keep them level with the human player. I'm amazed that with all the modern computing power at their disposal that developers still settle for such lacklustre AI.

However I have high hopes for F1 2010. Videos so far look fairly promising. :yes:

I don't even like F1 but the entire media aspect actually made me interested, such an awesome way to immerse yourself into the position of a driver in an F1 position instead of just quick jumping to

the next race.

Anything is better than what Sony and EA did to this license years ago, when all they cared about was updating the roster and cars.

I look forward to all the changes they are making, F1 deserves a better game.

Casual games are fine by me if they don't have pointless things thrown in. I want to be able to skip cutscenes and other non-gameplay material. I play the game primarily for the game, the surrounding material comes second. Otherwise I may as well be watching a movie.

Cant tell you how excited i am about this game ever since it was announced in 2009. I was a bit scared about Codemasters because ever since Race Driver 1-3 i havent liked any of their games, all the cars feel floaty and wierd but this has promise, especially excited about the off the track stuff.

Not really. I've only bought two games this year exactly because the quality is so low and there are better things in the world you can blow £40 on. The DLC fetish is what is killing gaming, not people who have an opinion on a new feature.

    • OpenAI is rolling out a major upgrade to ChatGPT memory by Pradeep Viswanathan OpenAI is rolling out a major upgrade to ChatGPT's memory, making the system more capable, current, and scalable across long-term use. Memory allows ChatGPT to remember useful details about users, including their preferences, projects, and constraints. Instead of starting every conversation from scratch, ChatGPT can use this context to provide more relevant responses in future chats. OpenAI first launched saved memories in February 2024. That feature allowed users to explicitly ask ChatGPT to save information into its memory, such as travel plans or writing preferences. However, this system had limits because it depended heavily on users giving clear instructions to remember something. Additionally, saved memories could become stale over time. In April 2025, OpenAI expanded memory by allowing ChatGPT to reference past chat context outside the saved memories list. This was powered by a background process called “dreaming,” which automatically curates memories from chat history. This made ChatGPT better at learning from natural conversation without requiring users to manually save every detail. Today, OpenAI announced a more capable and compute-efficient memory architecture built on top of dreaming.     • I work for a video production company in Australia. The camera operators shoot footage and then pass the SD card over to the editors. Much easier than handing over the entire camera. Plus, on a busy day you can hand off the SD card and then pop another in for the next shoot. Or, you might have used multiple SD cards because you need the extra space for a long shoot.
