District 9 (2009)

I found it to be comedic more than anything...the nerdy South African inspector was the funniest....haha but it was not a great film though...could've been better...still entertaining but on a different level.

I was just kidding :) I generally don't care for sequels, for the most part.

I know ;) I am actually starting to turn against them.

I enjoy getting to see the characters again when a sequel happens, but there should be a limit though.

I was more original stuff. And while I didn't care for District 9, it was at least original. Something different.

Great movie. Something is bugging me though I'm sure I saw a trailer where there was a "prawn" and it chucked a humvee at two soldiers? I didn't see that in the movie?

yeah it was the robot in the trailer that chucked the vehicle.

The movie feels mediocre, certainly not bad, but definately not great. However if I wasn't a SciFi fan, it would probably be bad.

HOWEVER, it does feel a lot like the intro to what could be a great movie or trilogy. It's as if it was made as the introduction to a new great SciFi universe/movies

Saw the film earlier today, went in with low expectation, and came out thinking that its one of my top films of the year. It wasnt set in the US for once, and for me its a film that stands out in the huge sci-fi genre, just seems to have a different take on it and reminded me of cloverfield which i think is a great film (but a bit overrated)

9/10 and look forward to the sequel im sure they'll do as long as that dont mess it up lol

Movie was alright. Not worth the hype is received. I thought the story was a little lacking and some of the bits to be a little tad to the extreme. Other than that though, it is still a great scifi action movie.

As I said not a greta movie, but a good intro to the sequel.

Sorry double post (couldn't edit)

I think most people's problem with the movie is they expected something like Independence Day or something similar. Pretty much a movie with big explosions, visual effects, and action. If you go into this movie expecting this, you WILL be disappointed.

This is not what the movie is about. It's a cinematic representation and twist on the problems current South Africans are facing. If you actually do research on what this movie is about, you will probably have a better appreciation for it. Some things are supposed to be left open. I think a sequel would also ruin it.

I honestly thought it was a good movie and give it an 8/10.

    • how about fixing the performance?
    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350. I mean I see what you mean, that it's a decent price compared to what's currently available, but you really should put a disclaimer in this articles explaining that it's still multiple times more expensive than it used to be.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
