[Offical]Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Recommended Posts

Sadly I can't afford this till tomorrow (payday) and couldn't risk the money being taken from my account, else I would have pre-ordered as well. Will be popping to the local independant shop though to see if they can let go of a copy early :)

Still waiting for mine. I'm guessing because i'm on the Isle of Wight, UKMail have one van to deliver to the whole island.

If you do the tracking, clicking from Orders from Shopto, and do detailed, it will tell you if at least its on the van for delivery.

Wow.. what a game!!!! I'm on chapter 22 i think..and this is one of the first games (if not the first) that I have played for 10 hours straight without stopping. The game is unbelievable. It's such a cinematic experience that you simply can't stop playing, it feels like an awesome adventure movie. Something in between Romancing The Stone and Indiana Jones..

It's terrific, I loved Drake Uncharted but Among Thieves simply blew me away. I was expecting a lot but this game is probably the finest game this generation and quite possible one of the best games I've played so far in my life. The action is phenomenal, the acting is dead on and visuals take your breath away from time to time.

From the very beginning the game gets a grip on you and doesn't let go. It's literally like a movie and transitions between gameplay and cinematics are completely seemless.

Terrific and a game to own for a long time if anything just to replay it after a while once you finish.

What's the final chapter in the game? As I said I'm on 22, I'm assuming I'm very close to the end.

great game! awesome graphics, best i have seen other maybe MGS maybe. Gameplay is fun, except the stealth sequence was pretty lame. The AI made it really bad. I was beside a guy i had to take out and nothing would happen.... i would bump into him and everything, and it had no effect.

But other then that, AWESOME!!! I am playing on hard, and the game is pretty challenging. The next gen filter is kinda funny.

This game is great! :D

The graphics are superb (easily the best of this generation currently) and the voice acting and animations and incredibly believable. I feel like I'm watching Indiana Jones, only better. :p The gameplay is incredibly fun, and the stealth is great (the cover takedowns are just awesome; slamming some guy into a concrete pillar looks so painful :pinch:).

A must buy in my book, even if only for the first hour or so that I've played. :p

I only got to play the game for maybe a half hour, but I've got to say that I've already been blown away by the presentation and the gameplay so far. Again, like DL said, the game just feels more refined than the first, which was already an amazing game. The graphics are phenomenal. The animations and textures are spot on, and the game sports a palette that touches upon every color in the spectrum, not just shades of green and brown.

Why not just play with an easier difficulty? Trophy ###### :p

Hahahaha, its just for the Crushing trophy. Turns out that you can only use the tweaks you buy in the difficulties you've completed, so my Crushing run will be "naked".

In the mean time, I'm finding all the treasures and getting all the kills for all of the remaining trophies :D

This will be the first game I'll get 100% trophies.

And everyone who has the game, you should buy the Doughnut Drake skin as soon as you can. Its the funniest thing ever to play as.

Welcome to the club :)

So, is this game any good? lol.

Might have to take this off my rental queue, and get it for my b'day in December. Already have SW:TFU-USE, GoW:Collection, and GoW3 on order.

aghh mine didn't turn up!

Just found out they delivered it to the wrong town. I am in sandown and they delivered it to shanklin. Luckly a card was left so i've rearranged it for tomorrow and they're going to ring me when they're at the address. I dunno why they don't just make a note and say SANDOWN!!!

I had this problem when i had my 360 repaired. They kept taking it to shanklin.

Naughty Dog: We did not expect the critical reception we're getting

There's a saying that deems humble people as the most successful. They don't brag about what they've accomplished, they don't go around badmouthing the competition, and they certainly don't imitate. The Naughty Dogs have demonstrated their humbleness, even as they bask in the praise of rave reviews for the critically acclaimed Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

You'd think after creating such a genre defining experience that they'd have anticipated this was coming. Well according to Naughty Dog's Travis McIntosh, this sentiment could not be further from the truth. Speaking today in a live chat with the Official Playstation Blog, he said:

"We knew we had something special while working on the game, but did we expect the critical recognition we've been getting? No, when you're as close to a game as we are it's far easier to see the flaws than the full picture. It wasn't until near the end when the story and the cut scenes finally came together that we realized that the game was as good as it was?"

On an entirely different note, Neil Druckmann later added "We love that so many girls enjoy Uncharted..... it's part of our motivation in creating such strong, well-rounded female characters."

Naughty Dog dev confirms cross game voice chat.

"I think they wanted people to have fun and ejoy the show since all dead players can talk to each other no matter what team you are on. But I will suggest it anyway. Not to mention that the next PS3 firmware update is going to allow cross game chat. So if players use that instead of in game communication then they would also be able to communicate enemies positions." Posted by ReklissAbandon, a Naughty Dog Dev.

Anybody up for an online match?

I'm currently 70% into the trophies, but I cannot be bothered right now to complete the remaining ones (one of them is beating the game in Crushing), so I'm playing online.

If you don't have me on your friend list, PM me and I'll send you my PSN ID.

    • My father still uses a programme written in dbase3. Still manages to work with a little help from dosbox.
    • Microsoft hides these secret Windows 11 performance boost settings available on every PC by Sayan Sen Windows enthusiasts often look for ways to extract as much performance out of their systems as possible, and it's often the case that they try and do so while trying to minimize the heat and power consumption. This is especially relevant in the case of mobile Windows PCs since laptops and notebooks tend to get hot and management of that heat and power is harder in such a form factor. As such users often turn to techniques like under-volting which can be used to squeeze out the maximum capabilities of a chip while also maintaining lowered power levels. There are official apps from AMD and Intel with the likes of Ryzen Master and XTU (Extreme Tuning Utility). While these are quite handy, most enthusiasts probably prefer to dig into the BIOS and play around with settings there like Curve Optimizer on Ryzen, which lets users set various frequency-voltage scaling values. These are essentially called P-States. If you are not familiar with them, Processor Power Management is done through Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) P-states and C-states. While P-states or performance pwoer states handle CPU voltage-frequency scaling, C-states deal with CPU sleep states so that some of the CPU functions, which are not necessary at that moment, can be disabled. The P-states and C-states work together to make the processor run more efficiently. It helps the OS and apps determine which cores can be parked and which should be boosted. Of course not every user is an enthusiast or knows the technicalities and integrities of how things like overclocking or undervolting work. Thankfully for them Windows itself offers something pretty cool, though it is hidden by default on all systems. By default, Windows only has two P-States, "Minimum Processor State" and "Maximum Processor State." However, this can be changed with a Registry trick to expand the options under a secret "Processor performance boost mode" dropdown. This essentially enables the HWP or hardware P-States available on a device, and these are not controlled just by the OS itself as the underlying hardware gets involved too. In total there are five Processor Performance Boost Mode profiles that control how Windows requests and allows CPU turbo/boost behavior under the different power policies. They are: Disabled: In this mode, processor boosting is effectively turned off. The CPU will avoid entering turbo or boost frequencies and instead operate closer to its base frequency ceiling. This can significantly reduce power consumption and heat output, but at the cost of reduced burst performance and responsiveness in short workloads. Enabled: This is the standard behavior where boost functionality is allowed under normal conditions. The processor can opportunistically increase frequency when workload demands it, balancing performance gains with power and thermal constraints as managed by the system. Aggressive: Aggressive mode favors performance more heavily, allowing the CPU to enter higher boost states more readily and sustain them longer. This should in theory improve responsiveness under bursty or heavy workloads but increases power draw and thermal output compared to the default enabled behavior. Efficient Enabled: This mode still allows boosting, but with a stronger bias toward energy efficiency. The system attempts to use boost more selectively, avoiding unnecessary frequency spikes when the performance gain is marginal. Efficient Aggressive: This is a hybrid approach where boost is still performance-responsive, but the system continuously weighs efficiency more heavily than in Aggressive mode. It aims to deliver noticeable performance improvements while reducing wasted power in less demanding scenarios. Here's how to enable the Processor performance boost mode: Open Registry Editor: Press Win+R, type regedit, and click OK. Go to: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7 (where HKLM stands for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_) Modify the value of Attributes from 1 to 2 (you can find modify option by right-clicking) After that, exit Registry, you should now be able to see the new "Processor performance boost mode" dropdown menu: As you can see there are now five new P-States or CPPC states or power profile available that help define the boost mode processor setting on your PC. Wrapping it up here's a quick run-down of the settings as defined by Microsoft itself. Setting Description Disabled The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is disabled. Collaborative Processor Performance Control (CPPC) behaviour is disabled. Enabled The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is enabled. CPPC behaviour is Efficient Enabled. Aggressive The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is enabled. CPPC behaviour is Aggressive. Efficient Enabled The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is Efficient. CPPC behaviour is Efficient Enabled. Efficient Aggressive The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is Efficient. CPPC behaviour is Aggressive. Aggressive At Guaranteed Windows calculates the desired extra performance above the guaranteed performance level, and asks the processor to deliver that specific performance level. Efficient Aggressive At Guaranteed Windows always asks the processor to deliver the highest possible performance above the guaranteed performance level. In the next part we shall be comparing these settings to explore how much of a benefit or regression they can provide in terms of performance and power efficiency. If you decide to change the values on your system and are experiencing problems like crashes or an overheating PC, make sure to revert the steps back to the original state.
    • I think he means you haven't reviewed previous UFC games. Of course it doesn't matter... Every time you just report on something that involves the President even if just simply what happened you guys usually get accused of being anti-Trump. We live in fun times.
    • So how did you solve the problem? Disabling Secure Boot isn’t a solution.
