Halo Reach Thread

You could tell the Halo 3 was a mess. I remember all the trouble of activating the game with the disc and how they had to extend the beta time. Yeah, it felt kind of like a waste of time but oh well. Now, do I trade in a few games or do I just not even bother spending the money to just own ODST again. Hmmm.

Honestly, the beta is only available until May 19th.. I would just rent it from Blockbuster (or even try a mom and pop rental) instead. No sense in spending money on a game that still goes for $30+ retail. That is.. if you'd rather spend $10 to rent (or whatever Blockbuster is) or if you've got Gamefly.

True. One thing I'm taking into consideration is the fact I will be gone for about 5 days, leaving for my girlfriends graduation from Basic Training from the USAF. Just not too sure. I did have gamefly but I stopped a while back once I lost my job at Adidas. So, now it all comes down to...how much I really want it.

It's almost akin to a pistol except it takes 4 shots versus the pistol's 5.

The DMR and the Pistol both kill in the same number of shots... And the DMR is very different and far more of a patient marksman's weapon than the Pistol. The pistol is a bit more flexible, though. First game of Reach was SWAT and I had a +17 with 25 kills. I really enjoyed SWAT in Reach.

Don't disagree with her she's a girl, on a tech forum like this you don't do that maaan!

The DMR is basically a Halo: CE pistol just different cosmetics. Truthfully, they're almost in one in the same. Except the DMR is for distance and pistol is short range. Which is why I see so many people already just using their pistol when they're not able to get a hold of a weapon that's on spawn.

SWAT is a host game. Never liked it. At least people won't be switching to Elite on here when SWAT comes up.

Edit: And as far as shots required, I'm just basing it on my own experience thus far and what I've read everwhere else. Some say the same, most say otherwise. If I could play it on LAN, then I'd be able to tell you better answer.

After about a week of this Beta, I'll have to write up a major essay for B.net in order to get across my criticisms of the game. There is so much right but a few things wrong about it. Just need to play Invasion before I can really say anything about balance (Spartans vs. Elites is the last part of the equation).

Wait, whut? The DMR takes way longer to take a kill than the CE pistol. The CE pistol was a really quick 3 shot kill. I believe DMR takes even longer to kill than with the Halo 3 BR.

Anyway, to anyone playing: Are you guys having trouble seeing the Pistol and DMR cursors during battles?

Well, the DMR is a single-shot versus the 3-round burst from the BR. The DMR is nothing like a BR. It doesn't take "even longer", just another shot (or two.) So yeah, I still say that the DMR is almost like the Halo: CE pistol.

And nope, not having issues seeing the reticule. Are you not seeing it when you're not scoped or when you're scoped?

Rather than seeing the cursor, I find it hard to tell if I really am getting headshots with either weapon. It might be due to the intense kicback animations of both weapons blocking my view but I rarely expect headshots with the gun.
