Windows Live Wave 4 Milestone 2... Some screenshots and info

Recommended Posts

How many people still use the official Microsoft Client without any modifications? I personally do not even use it, I use Adium on my Mac and Pidgin on my PC

looks like someone puked up a rainbow.

Haha, very nice comment :)

Anyway, back on topic, im sure i can just adjust any stuff that i didnt like with themes / hacks from MessengerPlus once they release a version that works well and stable with me.

I must be the only person who actually likes the new Windows Live Messenger :p (or, at least what we've seen of it). I love the fact the Windows Live teams seem to be focussing more on the social updates and the only situation where the extra interface elements would be an annoyance to me would be if I had a lack of screen space; if that was the case, I'd just turn the extra panel off :) If the team are adding things which are options, I do not see why they should be complained about so much because some people will like them.

I'm looking forward to trying out tabbed chats as well (Y)

The ads and the huge bloated look is ugly. We need something beautiful, we can have updates and all, but it needs to be cleaner. Get rid of the ads, you are already rich enough. We need WPF implemented and 3D effects. That way we can have a UI that can fit in social updates, but this 2D bloated look won't work.

Looks terrible.

I hate this stupid "social networking" crap - it?s so 2009.

How is it so 2009? I think you'll find the Facebook membership is still growing in size. I love the new direction Windows Live is going in and the social updates which will be present in Windows Live Messenger 2010.

I don't see why they integrated social networking into the application. Nobody really uses that stuff except kids.

 I know many older people who use Facebook, especially those between the ages of 20 and 30. I also know many who will be happy to see all their social updates in one place, not to mention how much of a godsend Facebook chat support will be (seeing as the chat service on Facebook.com often does not function very well).

Source?

Source?

A source for what? :s

I'm speaking from personal experience. You don't have to believe me, but from personal experience I've seen many people between the ages of 20 and 30 using Facebook. I imagine there will be official figures somewhere - maybe I'll look around - but either way, why would Microsoft include something in their software unless they are sure people will find it useful?

Can you hazard a guess as to which age-group contains the most users of Windows Live Messenger? I'd imagine it's the same as Facebook.

Heck, I've seen a lot of people 40-50 use it. including my mother, actually my grandmother's even on facebook.

    • I tried to get the latest secureboot certificate for my old Dell 7010 Optiplex machine.   I restored the default settings to Secure Boot. Big mistake.  Now when secure boot is on. The machine doesn't boot and complains about no booting devises.  The computer's secure boot can't find where to boot and the information apparently has to be entered manually.  Secureboot's settings are now years old and it can't find a new configuration.  What could be done here? There are plenty of files to choose from in the secureboot menu, but I don't know what to put there for each of the four Windows 11 upgraded from 10..... originally who knows what (used machine)
    • I see you're still rocking that g700 mouse
    • They need to follow the standard for AAA game but they will go at lowest level for triple a game because will sell more, earn kudos and the milk it for years anyway. look how much they milked gta 5 and how they milked the original 3 - San Andreas and vice city. it is probably going to be a fun game but then they allowed someone to remake classics that somehow were more broken and worse then original i hope they don’t ###### up this one!!!
    • In addition to the "sidebar app list" and "Collections" features, Microsoft will also deprecate the "Drop" feature. Before you publish this news and credit another site, here is the original source: https://x.com/i/status/2067838711870439583 .
