Intel, Nintendo Collaborating on New Console?

Recommended Posts

It isn't really a rumor. Since Intel and Nintendo have worked on CPU's since late 90's for their home console. The Flipper for GameCube and now the Broadway with Wii. It's only logical that Nintendo and Intel continue the partnership. And yes, backward compatibility is key. A new console from Nintendo will not be here until 2012 at the earliest. Shown probably E3 2011.

You're thinking of IBM, not Intel :p

Also, a "Wii 2" won't happen until 2012, guaranteed. I won't be surprised if there really is a "Wii HD" launching this year, with the ability to upscale every game to HD quality (with similar results seen in Emulation). I'd quite like that, in fact.

?

The Wii have 512MB onboard flash memory for offline storage. Not much, but it does. It can play DVD's if you really want too (homebrew). They didn't add it for two reasons; a) License cost. b)The majority of people have one or more DVD player.

Its a little late to add this, but he also said Wii does not support dual-layer DVD. It does, both the homebrew DVD players and Super Smash Bros: Brawl prove this.
