Can you post updates to Twitter/Facebook during the down time with any news? and progress?

We are planning (I hope) to embed a CoverItLive thing in the downtime page, so you can chat to our staff who have nothing better to do while we're down, about the new site and new features etc, we'll be giving updates through that, IRC (Please register for that in advance, the IRC registration page will be taken offline too at some point), and probably twitter as well. I believe our twitter feed syncs into Facebook, but don't quote me on that.

I wouldn't say I can't wait or anything, but I hope it'll be good. That thing at the top that budges everything down once a page has loaded is very annoying and will be glad when it's gone.

Well, there's only a few days left for this to be useful but you can minimize the "Latest Forum Posts" (mini-forum-spy) thingy by clicking on the "-" button.

Besides posting racy hot messages in the staff room, and quoting things out of context... yes. :p

If I ship over pounds upon pounds of coffee, would this hasten the upgrade process on Friday? :D

Shipping CPUs to the servers would probably be more helpful, I can sleep through most of it tbh, most of the time is taken up by updating the PMs to Conversations, which is an automated process.

    • Windows 95 offered the ability to add and edit the right click menus, on a per file type basis. This feature seems to be missing in the new file explorer. Are they bringing it back as a "new" feature?
    • It's nearly time to replace my aging Founders Edition 3080, it doesn't OC as nicely as it used to and it's running around 10c warmer than it did when I first bought it.  I don't have budget for much more than what I spent on the 3080 and locally, that means the best GPU I can manage is a 9070XT. On this basis I have a few questions: 1. At present I don't use ray tracing, if this was to change, would this GPU be an issue? 2. How does it compare on a performance basis? 3. Are the drivers worse or better than those for nVidia? 4. Linux support, is it there? 5. Anything else I should be aware of if I were to make this change? 6. Is it a good idea or shall I try and keep the 3080 a little longer.
    • What OS is that? It looks a bit like Mac OS but the command line suggests it isn't, either way I like it!
    • Outlook classic is inherently better than new outlook, for a number of reasons. That said, if the only reason people need office is to read email, they should just use thunderbird.
